Again, the never-ending problem of addiction makes a person think maliciously just to get money, and what makes him upset is to gamble, a prison sentence for that employee is a place for rehabilitation in my opinion, because he will be away from the internet or gambling environment he will receive direct guidance from police officers to become a good person when socializing again after getting out of prison.

There is no need to feel sorry for a person like this, because it is his time to learn and understand his mistakes and repent for the excessive gambling that brought him that far.

Yes, the employee should be in rehab because to be able to cure him of his gambling addiction, it is necessary before he makes the same mistakes after this case, but actually this has happened a lot in my country so it wouldn't be strange if there was theft and fraud committed. by financial services just to fulfill his gambling addiction, my friend once stole money from his office just to be able to finance his gambling, it is very clear that someone who is addicted to gambling should be rehabilitated and not allowed to work because that will be a misuse of his authority.

I think there may be other stories where other people might feel sorry for this case, but we have certainly seen a lot of things out there how someone who is addicted to gambling really harms himself, even other people, let alone relatives, you should never feel sorry because this is a disease that they have consciously committed to finance their gambling, I am sure that consciously they also know that their gambling addiction will harm them so they don't try to stop committing crimes that they shouldn't, so the only way is to stop their job and go to rehab. Relatives must support this so that the employee can be cured quickly. There are many gambling addicts who find it difficult to recover because there is no support from those closest to them.

Prison is the best place for rehabilitation and punishment for a thief to fulfill their addiction, it is the best place he can feel today, however he needs to understand what remorse means and what trust means not to repeat the same mistake in the future.

If it is indeed common in your country, how to find or identify that someone has a severe gambling addiction, because maybe if we understand and understand the nature of people who are addicted to gambling it will be easy to identify them, so that companies can rest the workers from their jobs for rehabilitation, because it is true as what you said if it is allowed to happen the same thing continuously, can abuse authority, commit fraud just to be able to get money to cover the cost of gambling, it is very worrying if it is considered common in your country sir.

How far do people go to feed a gambling addiction?

In this story we have a young bank teller, 28 years old lady, who stole 28,000$ from four different elders who were suffering from health and cognitive problems. Her goal was to fuel a gambling addiction, as presented by the defense at the court.

Families must be attentive to their elders when going to the bank and dealing with money in general. Scammers and thieves are everywhere and always ready to take advantage of the vulnerability of such individuals at an advanced age.
Those who are thieves/cheater has no country, no social, No nationality, no religion it can happen to anyone from any country, any society, any religion. And those ho are addicted might have lost their common sense basically which is good or not and those who have no basic common sense which is good or not may commit anything which is not ethical.

Yes, this could really happen and it isnt really that shocking that it would really be coming into a point that you wouldnt really be able to control it out on which just like been said that
there's no country, religion, status of living on which on the time that gambling addiction had a hit on you then most likely you would really be that having that kind of potential
on doing those criminal acts specially on making use of others money. How much more that this one is really that a Bank teller? Temptation is really that high on which considering that
She's really that prone with money then high chances that you would really be ending up with having this kind of actions. This is why it would really be that recommended that
you shouldnt really be that mixing up your gambling activity with your job because that will surely be that ending up on this kind of situation.

You are definitely right on this one on which on the time that you would really be that get addicted with gambling then high chances that you would really be that making yourself having that kind of tendency that you will really be making use of other peoples money on which how much more that you are really that indeed working on a Bank? You would really be able to easily find up ways on how you would be doing it.
Just like on what you had mentioned that it is really that too strong when it comes that kind of temptation since you are really that dealing up with a work which you could see money and we do know that control and moderation or simply with discipline about doing such acts isnt really that too strong when addiction hits you hard. This is why its important that you should really be that at least be wary on the actions that should really be taking because regret would really be that always in the end.

They have no morale in short. What they think, is how they can get money from anyone, no matter who is their victim. So yeah, ethics is not a question anymore here because it is not part of their everyday life anymore.

As you can see or read such situation in your everyday life, better take precautions to combat such scenario and avoid this from happening to yourself.
You can- limit your exposure of your personal details via online answering of forms, if you are in doubt to the person who you are talking with - better stop and think for a bit what he is trying to extract from you, report individuals if you are witnessing some kind of fraud - it maybe can save someone from getting duped to strangers.

Because that person is unethical. As you've said, no matter who the person that teller was getting money, that's not right at all. Sweat and long years of working just for that young lady to steal the money from those elders. I cannot imagine how she's able to do that without her conscience ticking in. Well, I guess that whenever you're already addicted, you have no compassion and morals anymore because what matters to you is about how you're going to gamble next. I feel bad for the victims that they have no means of fighting back while their money was snatched away by that teller.

She's already knew what she's going to after the incident and it's not worth the risk to do it. As if it's the kind of risk that many are going to take but sadly, there are a lot of addicted gamblers that are ending up with this thing because they no longer have money and they cannot control themselves. So, a good reminder is not to be intense with your bets. You can gamble as much as you can but use your money for betting and never bother any person just for your sake to gamble and to continue your vice when it's no longer fun anymore.

In short, learn not to trust no one most particularly when money is involved. Thieves/cheaters are everywhere, they can be your friends or worst relatives waiting in the corner to find perfect timing to steal your funds. However, with gambling addiction, if you know you are too emotional to gamble your own funds, then don’t gamble, or gamble with an amount you can afford to lose. Gamble responsibly, get rid of gambling if you have no funds at all to sustain your gambling addiction.

This is a different case though but you're right that when it's about our money, we have to be careful of whom we trust. This case is with the bank, and the bank has that teller that gambles and became addicted to it resulting to steal money.

She thought that she can get away with it, she knows the process and potential loopholes of it. But then, still got caught.

She deserved to get caught for stealing money and they're elders already for which she assist properly instead of playing nice but stealing behind.

Gambling is a severe addiction that distorts a person's brain in such a way that he cannot imagine anything else other than gambling, we can accept it as a type of mental disorder. A bank teller is so disordered by gambling that he is forced to steal from his workplace to manage gambling money.
When he tried his best to manage his gambling money, he couldn't think of anything else, so his brain couldn't pick an easier way to deal with his gambling addiction and manage his money, so he stole $28,000 & Tried to cure gambling addiction.

That's their job, they have access to the system and the money, so if they get tempted to steal for any reason, they can, but they must face the consequences of their actions since they will eventually be caught. Banks have reconciliation processes to trace any discrepancies, ensuring that missing amounts are identified and the responsible party is held accountable.

I believe the company should conduct regular employee evaluations to assess whether they are still fit for their roles. In this case, if the teller was already addicted to gambling, a thorough evaluation might have revealed his behavior. Evaluations shouldn't be limited to interviews but should also include investigations into employees' lifestyles.

I disagree, I mean banks have security and they should issues security clearance. Perhaps this is want the teller has, she has been given access because of protocols and that's why she might have been looking for that database and have identified individuals that she is going to target and so she did it.

If there will be chances, then the banks could degrade what security the teller can access with. Maybe the teller has access because she needed that in her position. So there is a loophole that this banks need to close so that they can prevent this from happening before.

The banker in question is struggling with impulse control. He did all that without calculating the consequences of his actions. Gambling excessively led him to have such a disorder, and at a point, he got overwhelmed and stopped thinking about the consequences of his actions if he failed. Probably, within him, winning was the only option. He never thought about losing all that money.

Gamblers need to develop a strong self-thought on the repercussions of every action they take. It'll help boost their impulse and emotional control.

This is what many people neglect these days about gambling and the dangers that involves it. when you start this activity for fun, without knowing or understanding the side effects of gambling long, heavily and chasing your losses and not knowing when to stop.
The bank teller in this story is just a victim in my opinion, anyone else in her place would do the same or worse to feed that strong addiction, desire to keep gambling or the willing to recover some losses and keep losing each time. This lady was imagining that she will make up all the losses with a huge win, unfortunately that wasn’t the case for her.

Overall, we can’t say that this lady is not guilty for what she did, since she had many options to either use only her salary or income for gambling. However, lack of understanding or warnings about gambling addiction is what causes these addiction. It is the same comparison with drugs addiction, if governments could end and fight well the dealer, producers and companies that are making the drugs we wouldn’t find that amount of addicts everywhere. While drugs are different than legal gambling casinos or betting store, they are both addictive and should be considered dangerous.

It wasn’t a he; it was a she. Anyone, whether man or woman, can become addicted to gambling**no exceptions. That’s why casinos always remind us about responsible gambling. Regarding the person in the news, she was the one accepting deposits, releasing funds, and probably had access to the accounts, making it easy for her to manipulate the records. She knew whom to victimize, but no secret is kept forever, so in the end, she was still caught. What happened is that she will be charged with theft and will surely lose her job as well. I hope we all learn from this and always consider the consequences of our actions in advance.

TSB Bank teller stole $28,000 from customers to feed her gambling addiction

How far do people go to feed a gambling addiction?

In this story we have a young bank teller, 28 years old lady, who stole 28,000$ from four different elders who were suffering from health and cognitive problems. Her goal was to fuel a gambling addiction, as presented by the defense at the court.

Families must be attentive to their elders when going to the bank and dealing with money in general. Scammers and thieves are everywhere and always ready to take advantage of the vulnerability of such individuals at an advanced age.

This is quite a huge amount of money, in my country Nigeria this is also something that goes on in banks that many people are not aware of , some bankers are gamblers they use the funds of customers to gamble and sometimes this puts them in a whole lot of trouble, but they cannot get arrested for it otherwise it would tarnish the reputation of the bank, so they simply fire them immediately... Addictive gambling is very bad, anyone going through this might actually be in denial but it's a real problem, gambling with other people's money is a line you shouldn't cross

Check the part of your post that I highlighted in bold, thats a wrong way to say this, you should have used the phrase, "satisfy her gambling urge", rather than say "fuel her gambling addiction". To fuel a car means to give the power to move when you start the engine, put it in gear and accelerate, this in other words simply means that, to make something worst, to increase, which is to say that, if we are to go by your phrase, it means she stole the money to use it to make her gambling addiction worst, to increase her addiction to gambling, which is wrong if you ask me, she rather stole the money as a means to satisfy her gambling urge.
Anyways, please don't mind me, I usually do this once in a while, no hard feelings 😁.

And that's by the way, now to the subject being discussed, I am not surprised at all, I've heard, read about people who did worser things just for the sake of gambling, adduction to gambling can drive even the smartest person nuts, specially when he or she has no money to satisfy the urge, they can go to any length, and for this lady, it was possibly easy for her because she works where she gets to handle money every day, the difference is that it's not her money, but then, a gambling addict who does not have his or her own money to gamble with, will surely do exactly same thing she did, don't blame her, blame gambling addiction. 😊

It's not surprising that people could go as far as doing anything at their reach to gamble.. haven't you read much more stupid cases? Where a person absconds with money for a legal wedding, just to satisfy his urge?

On the other hand, it's terrible that the lady lost control of her mind and actions up to the extent of making away with such a huge amount, just to gamble... This is how I view this whole addiction shit : you're putting in money to gamble for a huge return right? But nothing comes out from it and you keep repeating the same process?? So, I'd say there's more to it than just making money... Maybe the passion? That's a discussion of another day!
