Having overconfidence can make us in trouble because we will underestimate the situation that can change anytime. We will not think that how will the feeling when we just lose more money in gambling. Hilarious storyline he must have been thinking that gambling is always favourable  to  predicted games but little did he know gambling is no respecter of anyone or anything at all but except the fact that your on a higher chances of lucks which is quite rare. Strategies are just there for the use of the gambler to guide his predictions of games and not that it's an assurance to earn us a win but some gamblers get carried away with a strategy they tried for the first time and it worked out well as predicted.
