The real Trump pump can certainly pump bitcoin to more than $80,000 American dollars. I am very much certain of this.
The strong resistances like the one at $70K can not be easily broken ONLY with a hype (that is what the pump you are describing is). If we get to $80k in the near future it will be for other reasons.
We are already close to breaking that resistance. Hopefully when the news about the Mt.Gox refund fizzle out and a positive fundamental happens afterward, we will see the momentum to eat up that resistance and target the ATH. I strongly believe that we will see bitcoin at $100k this year. This is not difficult at all given the history of bitcoin after halving has occurred.
You may have misunderstood my post. I didn't suggest we aren't going to reach $100k (and a lot higher than that). But I said we won't get there with "hype alone" which is what this ongoing Trump nonsense is, fake emotional response and market participants who act that way don't have enough collective buy strength to push the price that high.
We will definitely reach $100k and beyond but it will be for the same reasons as before: growing adoption/demand. And not because some stupid presidential candidate on the other side of the world gave some fake promises.
If Trump wins again, the American economy might start booming. Imagine what would happen if the US government had its own Bitcoin reserves. It will mark the end of stubborn inflation for good.
US has sticky inflation because the government is printing $1 trillion every 100 days while the world keeps dedollarizing (so less nations are buying that debt). No amount of bitcoin can solve that.
