You have already gotten a lot of positive comments, feedback, and support from the community. I'm sure theymos would notice and consider your application, and I hope, I really hope that he does that. We already lost many of our wisest members of our forum. We wouldn't wanna lose such a helpful and valuable member of our community (Bitcointalk).

Little correction: It's been 1 year, not 2 years. Even though I registered in 2022, I wasn't active at that time. I started posting around from August 2023.

In that case, the success is even greater if it only took you one year to achieve something that others take much longer. I have no doubt that you will continue to progress on the forum, because we need new members to replace us when we leave one day (for one reason or another).

Fair point. Some users have been waiting for years, for example, @bullrun2024bro. His application is almost 2 years old, with only one month remaining!

As 2024 comes to an end and Bitcoin is close to reaching 100k, let's just hope theymos surprises us all by approving all the valid pending requests/applications, such as your application and others, in celebration of course. Fingers crossed!

Try not to get skeletonized in four months, I can see that the applications get a long time to get accepted it any. Much like the development hell of the new EpochTalk forum - I guess that name is still correct, I dont check that section anymore.

I also have the feeling that no new sources are going to get appointed anymore unless some older ones become dormant or merit circulation takes a bad turn.

Hello @Lucius without me having to come across this your application I wouldn't have known you are not a source. Though like I understood I was thinking those with higher merits records are all source, but I didn't know my instinct was wrong. Having to see you not a merits has also made me felt bad because you deserve to be one and also there are lot of reputable members who is meant to be approved but theymos isn't paying attention to them just as you are.

Though had raised topic about this but from the comments over there it seems to be like when there is lack of merits circulation or a particular local board aren't receiving merits before he would consider and even as that, most people also said that those who felt they are lacking merits can as well report their post to those who are reviewing profile. But currently if am not mistakenly, only two people who are doing that right now which is Filippone, and LoyceV, while the rest are on mobile (any profile they wish like meriting or when they comes across quality post they merits). I believe he would approved your application.

Anyway I strongly support your application.

I don't quite understand why Lucius wasn't given merit source status, when theymos recently appointed a few of them. It seems that the focus was more on the local boards, I don't know if that's why. In any case, I don't think there's much more to add. I also support the application, even though we often have different points of view.

I find it strange. There's a combination of biased merit sources, extreme merit farming in local boards and an insufficient number of merits being distributed in boards like Bitcoin Discussion. There are a lot of shitposts in those sections but there are many good posts that receive very little to no merit, or they get them from the same people over and over again.

I think Lucius and apogio could be a good fits.

I agree with you, you are very observant. I wish I can have more smerits allocation also, I will be able to give more merits. There are many good posts that I am seeing which I am not giving merit just because of the little smerits that I am given monthly. But I think with time, it will increase.

I am told that these people aren't merits source I wouldn't believe because they distributes merits frequently than most people, and of course I am also fully in support of them becoming merit source they could do well in distributing since they reads alot and comes across of lot post.

I agree, I don't frequently encounter merits on the Bitcoin discussion part of the forum,  even though there are posts that are worth meriting for. Apogio and Lucius are great candidates who already contribute a lot in the merit system by frequently distributing any available sMerits they have. Imagine what they'd do for the community if they were merit sources.

We ourselves need to stop hoarding sMerits, myself included, and provide to the community by giving out, especially to newer members who are worth it

Many quality posters who also happen to be merit sources avoid Bitcoin Discussion precisely because of the shitposting and spam generation that happens there daily. You can also find merit-worthy posts in Beginners & Help, but that sub is also not a favorite destination for merit sources and many will not spend their source merits there. I can't blame them. There are many occasions where you come across a thread with 15 posts, for example, and only a few make any sense at all. The rest is just repetition of what was already said.

There is no doubt that the last cycle of adding new merit sources was exclusively focused on local boards, and that is something that is positive for those parts of the forum. On the other hand, the admin obviously thinks that there are generally enough people on the forum who have enough merits for distribution in the general part of the forum.

I personally see a lot of posts that deserve merits, and with what I have it's hard to reward even 10% of the total number. I know that there are members who have topics where links to such posts can be posted, but wouldn't it be easier if those who are active daily and have the desire to contribute to the forum themselves awarded merits for good posts?

Those who see what is happening in the background know that I have reported on hundreds of topics and thousands of posts in the Bitcoin discussion over the years in an attempt not to be destroyed by spammers and various fanatics who regularly post nonsense there. I think that board is perhaps one of the most important, considering that it is the first one at the top and anyone who visits the forum will open that board first and get their first impression based on what they read there.

I agree, you've noticed that the B&H board has also been left without, let's say, its main sponsor since @DdmrDdmr stopped being active in that part of the forum, and before him, a few other members who were also active there. I hope that this will change in the future, because there are a few members (including me) who are ready to distribute a lot of merits if the forum decides that it is necessary.
