Is your win a function of luck or how much you know a sports?

I tried out something while I was watching some games in the ongoing Olympics and this is what I did;

I looked out for sports I wasn't conversant with the athletes and didn't  know who was better at the sports and did a random prediction on the outcome of the game. I did it for swimming competition and some random boxing yesterday and out of up to 7 predictions I made, almost 6 went the way I predicted it.

It reminds me of writing an objective examination in high school and when you're done with the questions you're certain of, and you just do some random selections and luck could shine on you and you get up to 70% from your rough prediction.

I have not tried this in real games that involves using money but would want to know if anyone has ever tried it before.

Like you, I didn't know much about sports. Due to not knowing the sport well and not having a good understanding of the players, I did not get very good results by participating in betting. I lost first few bets in my life but they were all on football I bet on many famous clubs in football but later I lost those bets too since then I no longer bet on football I bet on cricket. But I bet on cricket game and my bets have been very successful. But experience in sports betting makes your winnings much easier. But it has to be believed that gambling also depends entirely on luck especially in terms of playing dice games, slot games etc.

No matter how experienced you are in gambling that does not guarantee your win because gambling is not by experience but by luck sinve it is not a skill but an activity to entertain yourself. If a gambler have it in his mind that luck is the major factor to make us win, most gamblers will minimize the rate at which they gamble and allow nature to take place in their games in stead of chasing their wins. No one is a seer to know when his next win will be.

Are you also aware that the more skill you are in sporty the better chance of you having luck than someone who don't have the skill and yet want to rely on luck? It doesn't work like that. If you are very good at making calls in gambling, you need to make the right choice of games so that even by precision, you will get close to the expected result. If you know more about Manchester United and Southhampton, you know the option best to bet.

I'm not sure in the history of betting someone has rely on luck and made it from gambling, they are rare but someone with the skills can make a good call and you will see him make a good amount of money. I know some guys that love betting draw on matches and they do win sometimes but someone without skill can make that call unless for someone that love betting on casino games but that's not what the OP is asking.

So recognize what you want to do in gambling and I think in this case we must have an interest in what sports we want to do in betting later so that we don't just focus on the thought that we will definitely win when we only bet on big clubs because the situation is not as easy as we think in the match.

We have to look at the statistics of the game so that we know whether the bet will go well or not even if it is for a big club but when the situation is not favorable for what is used as a bet in the end.

In addition, it does not mean that when we are in a big club we will definitely get a profit from the start because in the end the odds that are owned in a match are only probabilities but do not mean to be the determinant because there could be surprises that we cannot even expect when the match is held.

A lot of it is luck but in terms of sports betting vs something like slots yeah it can sway in your favor if you are up on everything that can alter a sporting event you are betting on.  I have never (at least I can't rember) betting just randomly on something.  For one I use it as entertainment to enhance watching that particular game and second why not bet on something you know a little about.  People claim they can continually beat the books and win regularly on sports but I don't believe it.  Those same people would just be beyond rich if they unlocked the code to always beat the pro pickers.
