It's happening to me right now, France vs Brazil, women.

It must be a record, at least for amateur games, perhaps, but they gave 16 minutes of extra time, which is incredible in itself.

It does happen frecuently in the different elite leagues, and in the most recent case, Euro 2024, how many games were won after the 90th minute, I think it was 8... and boy did we lose and win with that extra time.

Overtime has affected my bets more than 3 times, it doesn't happen that much with popular leagues though, sometimes I see this overtime as a trick for them to rig a game, I remember the experience I had with this last year, I placed a bet of 20 thousand naira, if was a multiple game of five soccer games, four were successful and I was patiently waiting for the outcome of the last game, I was quite happy that the team I gave straight win were one goal ahead of their opponent, it was 2-1 into 90th minute but the game still continued, the overtime given was more than 10 minutes...The game ended up being 2-2 , that's was a very stupid game...

But for sure they do have effect on our bets. I can imagine a game a bettor predicted to end draw and then after playing 90mins draw only for one side to get a goal after a lengthy added time of about 7-13mins. WTF.

Yea, I love the example you gave, and believe me, it has happened to me before. Extra time can affect a gambler's bet in a positive or negative way. I have actually staked on a game (1x) where I expected the first team to win the match, but an extra time was added to the game, which resulted in me losing the bet because after they have  already played a draw, the extra time gave them the opportunity to score another goal (1-2), and I lost the bet. In some bets, the reverse can be the case, and the extra time will be an advantage for the bettor to win.

I also feel the same way. In Euro, I was lucky because finally, the goal in extra time made me win the bet. I remember it was a match between Switzerland and Germany. Germany conceded 1 goal in the first half, and even until the end of the second half Germany still couldn't score a goal. It was quite frustrating but when there was an equalizer from Germany made in extra time which was very crucial. I bet on both teams to score. It was a fun ending for me.

The first thought that came to my mind about overtime was that you should bet on the draw. If that is the case, it affects the result of my bet. If you bet on the outcome or down the line, it would change the results and you would lose.

Those minutes are important, IMO, and they could be a game-changer for your bet.

A 1x2 bet on football usually doesn’t count overtime. But yeah usually the extra time is always ended up with draw result since most of the players are already exhausted to create a dangerous play.

I’m not sure if goal score for handicap bet includes overtime but this sucks if you have an under handicap while the overtime is too long that resulted to cover your bet.

LOL is actually fun sometimes having some of this tended feeling while you gambling with so much adrenaline rush in your body at once. interestingly, the prayers mumbled at that time may be answered and most of the times its not. those last minute deciders are usually the nightmare of most gamblers, just at he time you were thinking you have been able to win the game you get to loose it in the last minute and this is why whenever a them is winning by a goal and i placed a bet on them to win, until the last minute after the final whistle, i don't get excited or celebrate thinking i have won the game already because i know things can still turn around even in the last minute.

It sucks most times when the team you bet on is winning and there is a lengthy extra time, it will look as if the referee is bribed and against your bet because you know the risk involved on such additional time. The worst of it would be if during this excess additional time, the opposite team score on make you lose your bet. You would not accept that the game was on a fair play.

Like what most people said above, when there is delay in the match intentionally or not the referee will add additional time to cover up the wasted time in the match.

I also can't forget those extra minutes during the Euro 2024, it was always at least 5 minutes and sometimes even felt longer as I mostly have tickets on the matches to go under.

I've seen a few matches where they gave an extra 10-11 minutes, but 16 is a first for me, to milk that much time i'd assume the match was very defensive or sloppy with both sides not giving an inch.

These overtimes are scary. You feel like you're doing good and then they add 10 minutes and you're back to sweating, but i like it. It's the emotions that make me bet and watch a match with a standing bet.
I don't remember losing money due to overtime, but there's always a chance something will happen, especially that players give their best to change the score at the last minute so it's often packed with action.
It's also completely fair. Without overtime the winning team would always stall.

Before World cup 2022 we only seeing the longest extra time is only 5 minutes or less but everything was change after that tournament because some matches on big events now can have 10-11 minutes for extra time and this condition is scary us because everything could possibly to happend during over time which too long duration and it just happend for me several times that the recent conditions is at Euro Cup because goals from extra time has been ruin my bets several times

However about Olympic 2024 i just remember the controversial thing about the match between Argentina vs Morocco for football sport because at that time the referee too giving 16 minutes for extra time with the situation 2-1 Morocco leading the game but the referee has makes controversial decision about Argentina goal and the match have to postponed for over than 2 hours before the VAR make a decision to disallow second goal from Argentina and finally this match belong to Morocco

I am old... from time to time I see some new shortcuts, so I had to google what WyT means. Famosos my man, we both have seen so many "incredible things" I am sure, that is gambling. We can take any game as an example: recent poker hands you shared, long-losing steak in any in-house game or slot, sports bets that fall in the last minute. And all that is just one side of the coin... when we lose a hand in poker someone else wins, we can chase x10 and lose the entire balance after zillions of bets in any in-house game while someone hits a lot higher multiplier in the first 10 bets, and while we are losing a sports bet in the last minute's someone is winning their bet because they bet otherwise and they needed that goal.

Can we make any conclusions? It's on us to place a bet and take the risk... will it be a winning or losing bet nobody can say (maybe some God if you believe in any of them). So we can't expect anything for real, it's on us to try it and we will see what will happen... too much expectation can lead to big disappointments, and placing bets without any hope and logic is foolish & stupid

Who doesn't get annoyed when the team at stake wins the extra minute of time that doesn't make sense so we will assume like you the referee is being bribed, this fact is annoying especially when the team at stake just got a low score of 1-0.

Normally it won't be more than 10 minutes of extra time, but it depends on how much time is wasted during the match which is clearly as a bet will be very annoying.

I didn't watch the live match but after watching the footages on youTube, the extra time of 16 minutes + 2 minutes 48 secs and Var ignored a yellow card for an assault were very absurd.
4-6 minutes should be enough, because the match is running normally for 90 minutes. The ref seemed want to help France women to reach the final - match fixing failed 

I have tried to read all the replies here to get a conclusion, since I didn’t watch the match myself and couldn’t judge where if the extra time added is fair or not in this game. However, you have explained that it is not the case and the extra time is over exaggerated from the referee which means one thing, corruption! Unfortunately, we even with the VAR and many technologies nowadays used in football and other sports, corruption still exist with the observation of millions of people. It is a shame for France as they are the organizers of this competition and they could face penalties for this, beside that it is so discouraging for other teams next time to play knowing they would lose because of such manipulation, added to that other future organizers would do the same to win most gold medals by cheating and fixing matches.
The problem we observe in football, many times is the lack of punishment against the corrupted referees, which encourage them to take more bribes next time and fix other matches in the future.

When it comes to affecting our outcome due to fixing matches, it is an obvious negative point, even when you win due to such discouraging events you won’t feel good or comfortable about it, since you know if it happens again, you may lose instead of winning. Sportbooks can’t do anything about that.

Almost 2 hours of game, in fact this referee was really enjoying the game

It turns out that since the World Cup in Qatar, FIFA has instructed referees to give more additions than the current standard in world football, due to the excessive number of stoppages. And as they are also responsible for the Olympic tournament, this recommendation is valid and that is what has happened.

However, the amount of time that the referee gave was way beyond normal.... because the second half passed without excessive stoppages, there were only three substitutions, one goal and some moments of injuries and cards, without VAR. So there was no reason for so much extra time. And as if that wasn't enough, after the 16 minutes indicated, the referee gave three more minutes within the extra period, even with the ball rolling without many interruptions, absurd!

Finally, at least France has no excuse to say that they lacked the chance (or time) to draw.

I can recall the Spanish game in the Euro where Frances fans and players felt Cucurrela rolled away most of the 4 minutes added time and still, the referee with seconds to 4 plus minutes completion, proceeded to end the game.

In the champions league, while Real Madrid played Bayern Munich, the referee ended the game in the middle of an attack. The ball even went as far as the net but, in football, you play with the whistle and officiating.

When I bet on a football match and I put money on an underdog team and I see that this underdog team is winning and the game is very close to ending, it's in the 90 minutes and then they give me 11 extra minutes, man I get irritated every time this happens because it's very strange that the few times I bet on the underdog I've had this scenario happen to me where the underdog wins the game until the 90 minutes but they give me more extra minutes and the opponent scores an equalizer. This makes me very irritated, in the Portuguese league games and even in the Premier League it's very normal for a team to be losing but manage to reverse the result in the extra minutes. It's very irritating when this happens to me.

It has worked against me when It should've worked in my favor, and the more reason I hate VAR!, I placed some bets years back, I was winning the bet with a draw while I predicted 1x in favor of the home team.

At 90 mins, the home team scored an extra goal only to be ruled out by VAR after they've resumed play and the devilish Asst. Referee added 8 minutes to the time which the  opposing team utilized and took the lead in the final minute of added time.

My coupon turned both green and red under my watch that I wished I cashed out immediately the home team scored the goal.

I'm sure some bettors would be annoyed at excessive overtime let alone more than 15 minutes if that scenario didn't work in my favor.

Betting on 1X2 bets of course this is normal time plus extra time, but when the team being bet on wins especially the underdog team then the possibility of the favorite team can turn things around in extra time, if for example extra time is normal around 3-5 minutes it is natural if more than that I will be angry why this can happen.

What is clear is that upset is definitely there along with his anger. Even assuming if the extra minutes are not excessive maybe we can win, the fact is we are not in favor.

I don't understand how the referee made this decision, but in all the soccer matches I've seen so far, this match between Brazil Women's team vs. France Women's team is probably the only match where 16 minutes of extra time was added to the original time. 16 minutes is too big in a football game where the result can change in a minute. Those who bet on this match may have been tensed as to why so much time was added as extra time. If a winning team had lost and the undefeated team had won in this extra time, gamblers would never have accepted this result. I didn't watch the whole game but when I watched the highlights I didn't feel like 16 minutes was wasted in this match. And if 16 minutes out of 90 minutes are wasted then I will question the referee's match management skills there. No one would ever want to see a decision like the one the referee made.

Overtimes don't happen very often but have the potential to upset the apple-cart  and  make my betting hopes not destined to be realized. When this happens I feel shattered (disconnected from the game physically) and give malediction to the man in the middle.

Extra time is always too much for those gambler's that are already winning they bets and at the same time too short for those who want the team to recover and make a score to put them in Winning again, this is what it is and we can't do anything about that it just personal sentiments, but for sure extra time is a good features that gives the team equal right to make a change regardless of their position in the match, so a welcome development, but it all depends on the peculiarities of matches that allocate the right extra timing in a match so I won't take it very seriously as a bad features since extra time was implemented to settle crisis with timing of the match and team's position when it obvious that no team can win in current timing and there be a need for extra time to define in clear terms who the winner of the match is without any biasness.

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich game in the championship that you mentioned was a clear incident of violence eruption during a live match and the referee needed to do the needful.
