Although the question from the OP was for players who somehow got addicted to gambling, to my luck I can’t say about myself that I got very carried away by gambling. Still, as a beginner and trying person, I always try to pull myself back when I want to risk more than I should.

This is not far from my story as well, i wouldn’t say i am an addict but sometimes i do get carried away with it sometimes by gambling more money that i should while most times by gambling more times in a day than i planned. Gambling discipline is very important to always keep us in check but at the same time very difficult to maintain, we sometimes get carried away and shift away from the discipline that prevents addiction even though we are aware of its consequences. Being able to pull oneself back as been as a result of the reminders from this forum, it has helped me alot.

I don't think its everyone of us that get addicted in gambling, except if there are situations in which we are addicted and still don't get aware of the whole thing, i see addiction as a misplace on priority for gamblers, i wont blame for some that got themself into this because they have much handling time for gambling than some other gamblers do, but if we are truly engaged in doing so many other activities that take much of our time, we are likely not to be addicted because we don't even have the required time enough to do so.

This does happen, or I mean I will say that something you experienced is also experienced by myself and maybe other gamblers where we are very likely to be carried away by the atmosphere, and I think it is quite natural to happen and experienced by a gambler, because there are indeed many things that look tempting every time we run a session, such as being fooled by a game that looks like it has a good round which actually ends up trapping us.

And also another scenario is about emotions where this happens when someone is in a losing situation that makes them dominated and controlled by their emotions to behave impulsively and ultimately regret it. I think all of that is natural because after all we are social creatures who will never be free from mistakes for a reason, but make sure to keep evaluating yourself so that these mistakes don't happen too often.

That's us and we know when we're about to get addicted and so, there's no story to share on how we became addicted.

And that is the reason why we can control ourselves because we know what we should do when we think we're near to that. Doing other activities will help someone who's about to become addicted.

The emotional being of that gambler is going to change when it's about the addiction that he/she might get through gambling. We all have our own stories to share but not today for me.

I have never been addicted but perhaps there was a time and I never noticed but I can say for a fact that I'm not too much of a gambling freak. I gamble sometimes because I see my friends doing it and they influenced me back then but now, I do it at the descrete of my choice but I can share one of the guy I know. I have a gambling friend, this guys was struggling in school, he was good but not financially okay and was using gambling as a means of taking care of his bills.

Long story short, he finish but because there was no means to make money, he was over gambling and things didn't work well again when you give him money, he will use it to gamble and not use for the purpose you have him but he quited and now has a gambling physical shop where people come and gamble in his shop. He is doing okay and ever since then, he has never for once gamble in shop or outside another place, that's his way of discipline himself

Though I have not been directly addicted to gambling before, but I have witnessed people who were struggling with gambling addiction, of which I'm sure one of the primary reason that causes gambling addiction is when people rely on gambling as their only means to financial freedom, because there are a lot of people out there who has no job, but gambles everyday with the mindset they will someday win a jackpot, but when the jackpot fails to come, they keep gambling, with the mindset they will someday win till it turns to a habit/addiction.

I agree with you. And that's what happens to everyone who is addicted to gambling. They think unrealistically. They live too much in the imagination that they will win the jackpot, become rich and use the money to buy branded goods. I am also not a gambling addict but seriously there are some of my friends who are addicted to gambling and in fact they are not aware that they are addicted to gambling. When they get their salary without thinking they will deposit more than 50% to gamble. They think if they get at least a 2x or 3x multiplier their money will be more.

Well, it all started when I newly got into gambling, then I have not fully understood that gambling is not supposed to be handled as a real source of income, because I saw people who were winning money from gambling, I thought it was easy but after I started,  it wasn't so easy the way I have thought, so I keep on trying and I lose a lot of money then.  I didn't struggle with the habit for a long time before I retraced my steps.

Initially I was able to bet on regularly and within a certain extent, gambling was only mere entertainment. However, after I got a number of wins large enough, it was really able to change my perspective on gambling, gambling is not only a means to get pleasure but also to find profits. The big victory I have ever gotten to make me forgot all the limits that I have made about gambling. Throughout the night I continued to do gambling until I forgot what was my duty, my daily life became increasingly unproductive and my financial became irregular, I continued to pursue victory that I did not necessarily get until I was not aware that I had experienced many losses until spending half From my savings. But not enough to get there, ambitions to restore the losses experienced and achieve a number of benefits to continue to peak until there is nothing left. And at that point I just realized the bad behavior that I did in gambling, and without thinking, I think to end everything is to end the gambling activity itself. I decided to quit gambling, and reorganize everything that had been lost due to uncontrolled gambling behavior. This decision is not easy, but I realize that constantly trapped in a circle of losses and ambitions to return the missing money will only lead me to further destruction.

Stopping gambling gives me space to recover, both in terms of financial and emotional.

At first I was very against gambling but over time I can't imagine when I started hanging out with friends and became addicted to gambling. But I have occasionally participated in offline gambling in that case traditional card playing but currently I am so addicted to online gambling that I don't like it if I can't participate at least three days a week.

Some of my gambling friends are the reason why I am addicted to this gambling today but I am mentally preparing how to get out of this gambling.  Although it would be very difficult for me to come out initially, I discussed this with a psychological doctor who gave me a lot of advice on how to get out of this terrible addiction.

If they can cure their addiction then they should not worry anymore. I think the ones who will experience that ' dark story ' are those people who are not yet playing a gambling anymore but we should not worry because I think they are not hanging out in this section of the forum, as these people can swear that they will not play gambling anymore for the said reason.

Gambling addiction is a hard problem to solve, so don't worry if you think you are struggling combating your own issues because all who are affected with it can also experience the same thing. What is only important here is that we already started something. In your case, you said that you already cured yourself, so you already have something to get proud of. You can now be a good inspiration and motivator to others who are yet to venture the same path as you.

Having a good people beside us is an advantage because this speeds up things for us and we are lucky for this as there are people who are not really blessed to be on the same position as us, so they only do things manually.

The only advantage they get here is that it makes them more stronger or more knowledgeable. Not only gambling but there are other rewarding stuffs too that if we don't have a control of ourselves, we will become addicted on them. So, having a strong control is always a must on them.

Even if they playing gambling, they will still have a chance to control themselves because they see how they can prevents the chance to get addicted to gambling by using limitation. Gambling addiction is a serious problem that people can gets if they can not control themselves when playing gambling and that already happens to many people.

We can teach many people to stay away from the gambling addiction but that will only work if those people wants to do the suggestion and realizes that playing gambling excessively can makes them addicted to gambling. Well, I'm still playing, just like others, of course, because of money/profit. I want to win more like I usually did since I started in crypto until before the pandemic. I feel like I have become more aggressive. I don't know, maybe because of the inflation. So my desire for more winning has become greater. I will eventually stop if I ever reach the amount I feel like I'm satisfied with. Still a reachable amount and not that high. Of course, if I ever have a steady stream of income soon, I'll just focus on that. For now, these 2 reasons are the one that can make me stop or lie low.

This is not my story, but my neighbor who became addicted because he was influenced by his friends even though he was still young and productive, but because many of his friends influenced him to gamble and he saw his friends getting a lot of money from it, he became a gambler and unfortunately he was addicted. He sold a lot of his parents' property, stole, and did many other criminal acts just to gamble. His parents had even given up because he was very difficult to talk to and tended to feel right. I don't know how he is now, but what I heard is that he is still addicted to gambling and even drugs. This is a lesson for us that someone has the potential to become addicted to gambling when he is influenced by others - choosing a healthy friendship environment can keep us away from bad things.

Sometimes in life it's the once who gets influenced by someone else thats gets more into that negative lifestyle and become extremely addicted and obsessed by it.. choosing your friends wisely is a good way to go but don't forget the most important; Do not become a bad influence to others, gambling not done for entertainment purposes should be a personal thing, sharing those ideas with other people and trying to convince them to gamble like yourself is a very negative influence on them

There is still some addicted gamblers that is aware that they are addicted but their problem is that they can not control their urges of gambling. I agreed with what you said, most times loneliness make us to gamble. Most days I gambled when am less busy because I feel lonely and needed something to keep myself a little bit busy, although I also make sure to deposit little money so that I wont spend much (just the omes I can afford to lose). But am happy because I don't get too close to gamble so that I won't become a victim of addict to gamble.

Yes, especially if those who are influenced and those who influence are someone who is close to the person who influences them, such as having a friendship where in the end, the possibility of getting caught up in a deeper way is something that will definitely happen, such as getting caught up in a cycle of addiction and I am sure that there is also a big possibility for them to get caught up in a cycle of addiction for a long period of time when they have a strong environment with gambling.

As you said that we have to be wise in choosing friends, yes that is quite true, but I think the most important thing is to have a stance, in the sense that even if for example you have a friend who has bad habits, don't let yourself be influenced, you need to really maintain awareness and a rational point of view in terms of judging what is good and what is bad, so I think no matter how bad our friends are, if we are firm in our stance, I think we will not be affected.

Yes, it would really be just that too impossible for someone not to be able to notice their current condition when dealing up into something specially if they are losing money.It is really just that there are people who would really be that tolerating such condition on which it would really be causing up with these negative outcomes or situations just because they do really let it happen. Just like been said that it would really be that impossible that you cant think off clearly on the things that you are currently dealing with. If you've been seeing that you are losing money then why would really be making yourself that continue and would really be busting up all the money you do have? It all started when I played my first casino games I didn't know was beginners luck at that time because I kept winning for a while, I thought I had a master strategy that could keep fetching me more money, then I increased my stake so I could make more profit but that was when I started losing, but the more I was losing I kept on trying to recover my losses using the martingale betting system. This addiction wiped out my savings and I kept losing till I decided to put an end to it. Do not get addicted to gambling it would lead you into depression

gambling is just a game that involves betting. we can just have fun but not like that. most gamblers come to gambling games to win. even for gamblers who only think about having fun. I'm sure they still have the thought of winning the bet.
I know there must be limits to gambling activities. and that's what will help gamblers not get addicted. One of you starts to get addicted when you spend all your salary to bet. and after you lose you are confused about your fate before the next pay period.

I will try to limit my envy so as not to become addicted. although several times I have bet beyond my ability. there is no real way to get out of gambling addiction except bitter experience. it can make us more aware of the importance of control from within responsible gambling.
