I am not a gambling addict but I would share what I have heard via some addicted victims.
First it begins like ignorance by which the gambler fails to realize that he is loosing excessively just because it is affordable but yet, it makes their savings staggering by which they are becoming unable to meet with their targets at the course of gambling.

So are aware of their looses from onset but are desperate to win and recover their looses before they could withdraw from their pressure of gambling.
And at the course, they looses more over and over until they becomes aggressive gamblers getting exposed to loose beyond their pasts.

The only way to do away with addicted gambling is a realistic realization that you have lost a lot unprofitably and while still gambling desperately that you must win, it creates more chances of your more losts.
And While you embattle to bail yourself out of it by yourself and you could not, try to be a good listener to when others talk to you about your gambling manners because at times we might actually be gambling wrongly while we think we are doing the right thing.

I haven't been on the wheels, but, I've had a rare view from the very top! do you know those set of people behind every traditional casino's counter? I was part of them! My gambling problems didn't last for a long time. It lasted for a few weeks, and I was fortunate to discover the cause of it. And with the help of some materials online and meditation, I was able to overcome it. The problem I had was loss chasing. I thought that I could recover my losses if I gambled more. This led to over-gambling and excessive loss of funds. With the help of some materials I saw online from some gambling platforms, I discovered that you cannot beat the house. It became clear that pursuing losses was a waste of time.

I also observed that if chasing losses was ideal then people who always do it would have been successful gamblers. But a close look at these loss chasers shows that they suffer from constant losses. I then advised myself to have a gambling plan that guides how much I spend on gambling per time. In summary, I was able to overcome my gambling addiction through educationn, meditation, and setting up of a plan.

Being addicted to anything in this life is very much unhealthy, not just gambling, so as an individual that have been addicted in the past, I know all it entails and addictive gamblers state of mind anytime they have money in their hands.

On my own part, it started when I starts gambling with what I can't afford to lose, sometimes as I receive my pay from the job am doing, the first thing that gets into my head is how will I be able to double that money, and by doing so most times I lose everything, sometimes I will stop when I have lost like 80% of the total money.

And sincerely speaking, what triggers me to continue doing that is that I just want to get back the money I have lost, and that makes me lose even more.

But everything changed one faithful day when I lost all my salary at once, that same day, I sat down and start thinking, asking myself how has gambling help me?  After all my pondering, I discovered that it's not helping me in anyway, instead it's just milking me dry, so I decide to put an end to it, initially I thought I can't keep to my words, but as the first week and second week pass that I didn't gamble, that gambling urge start leaving me, so that was how I stop till today.

Although the question from the OP was for players who somehow got addicted to gambling, to my luck I can’t say about myself that I got very carried away by gambling. Still, as a beginner and trying person, I always try to pull myself back when I want to risk more than I should.

However, I observe my acquaintances: someone still gets out of it every time by inventing a new story to borrow some money from people for games. Others, who have learned a big lesson from their passion, are now using the services of psychologists. I can say for sure that when undergoing treatment, these people give a considerable amount to doctors, and I think that returning to gambling after such an expensive treatment would be very thoughtless.

I was a lottery and poker addict about 10-15 years ago, there was no day without buying lottery numbers as well as no day without playing poker.
Cant really remember for how long I did it but it was more than a year, I stopped because I was in financial issue as the effect of playing it every single day.
Luckily I could get almost what I've lost on that addictive period due to a jackpot hit on lottery (hit it with after I sold my old car), then I decided to stop it because I experienced myself how hard my life when I had financial issue.
Lesson learned for me, I have no idea what I've done if I did not hit jackpot after I sold my car It was like a blessing time for me that change my mindset completely on how to deal with gambling.

There is no story that will help except someone discipline himself. You will see many addicts and advice them but as you are advising them, they will be saying the opposite and not yielding to your advice at all. Gambling addiction sometimes can be regarded to something like madness. They may not even consider themselves as addicted and looking for many ways to earn money from the gambling site that they are using. What I know that corrected some of them are long term losses of money.

I have been telling my stories about my first gambling experience on the other thread that i was so often to playing traditional card and this also causes me to became an addicted in gambling because at that time i cannot control myself and always to gamble for everyday even i didn't care about my jobs and my family anymore and this addicted also caused me to losing my jobs because during works i was unable to focus and always thinking to gamble

Addiction to gambling does not happen instantly; it's an accumulation of desire, motivation, greed, frustration, and satisfaction; it becomes a habit if done regularly, so the habit becomes embedded in our system.

I started betting on horse racing. I aim to win a few laps for fun and excitement because I've seen how some people react and what their actions are like at the betting station. It became a passion after a few weeks of betting because I'm actually able to predict some laps. I just thought then I just needed more time and effort to have a good prediction ratio.

I got addicted to colour games, but it's not something to be alarmed about because the colour games in our locality are seasonal; there are only colour games when there are fiestas, and after the fiesta, all gambling booths are taken down.

I can say that I was addicted because I played for hours and borrowed money to sustain my addiction.
My addiction stops from triggering after they are gone, and I'm back to normal, I like to conclude that absence of the stimuli stops the addiction, and that's what happened to me.

I once dreamed of making money from gambling. I thought gambling money could give me a big chunk of income. I will realize my dreams from that position. In such a situation when I started betting I got a win and got more excited and also took part in a few more bets at the same time but because my results were good there I continued to spend a lot of time in gambling. I use to be addicted to gambling away my entire signatures campaign earnings before, and this effected my financial life alot because I always feel empty at the end of each week, when I lost my pay on either sport bets on dice, and when I realise that I was gradually becoming addicted, I decided to check out what the cause could be and I later discovered that.

Why I gamble all the time and with all my payment is because I belong to a casino signature campaign that pays directly into my gambling account and this become a trap for me to waste my money until I hard to pull out from that situations.

Sad to learn about this, and glad that you were sensible enough to pull away, for me, I am still wearing a signature where it's payments is directly sent to my account on the casino, and it's been more than 2 years now, and I've never for once, been tempted to use my payment for the week for gambling, not once have I tried that, if I must gamble, I must first withdraw my payment for the week into my personal wallet, then from there, I will decide an amount I want to spend on gambling, and then deposit that amount back to the casino, then use the rest of the funds for whatever I've planned to use it for, this strategy have helped me over that years to ensure I never make the mistake of gambling away my pay for the week.

I am trying very hard to be completely abstinent from gambling but although it is a bit difficult for me, I have 80% self control and believe that I will be able to control myself more in the future.

Lack of education for me about gambling is the main reason I became an addict for certain period of time, suffered much losses, struggled to understand how it’s hard to stop and couldn’t notice that I was chasing my losses for so long. OK, definitely sure bud, with such a high level of self control, sure you are gonna get through with the gambling addiction even before you realize it, and thank goodness you are working, which is a great distraction from the urge to gamble which is something that usually grips it's victims times when they are less busy or totally ideal, this is why the best way to deal with addiction to gambling is to get busy with other stuff, get really busy that your brains doesnt even get the chance to think of or about other things, in a little to no time, you discover that your brains have adjusted and no longer remembers to remind you of gambling when you usually should be gambling.
