Gambling with Bitcoin Testnet (tBTC)

Bitcoin testnet, is the version of bitcoin made to do testing, that way developers don't risk money while they are coding an engine that involves bitcoin or a node. And it was supposed to never have a value, until an exchange decided to list it, and now it has a market.

So, the question here is, would you like to see a casino that allows you to bet with Bitcoin Testnet?

The risk about this "coin" is that it can be depreciated and restarted at any moment, that's why it used to be on version 3 (which is still alive), and version 4 is in the process right now.

If it's going to involve risking money, that is, if I will still have to spend money to buy the bitcointestnet, deposit it to the casino to gamble with it, why wouldnt I go for the Mainnet version of bitcoin instead?

If obtaining the bitcointestnet was free just as it was in the old days, in the first place, I bet it will even be stupidity to imagine that a casino will list a valueless asset to allow gamblers deposit and gamble using that asset, but since an exchange listed the bitcointestnet and It currently have a value, I still will not or can not use it for gambling since I did rather prefer to spend that money on the real bitcoin instead.
Specially when it is only listed on just one shitty exchange, what if this exchange decided to delist it? What then happen to the value?, it goes back to being valueless right.. Lolz.

Some casinos have their own coin for testing. It has no value and can not be withdrawn. Bitcoin Testnet is hard to get now.

It’s not a bad idea to bet on using tBTC because you are technically not using any money but gambling without risk. I think it is a choice that you can make on a site. It can be a simulation type of thing when you have that much in BTC, and you think it’s actual.

It can be a problem for people who might be addicted to gambling and have actual BTC.

I want to say in this regard when there was no risk how we can say that gambling? It's must have contained the risk then we can say that Gambling.
Otherwise, there is already demo option to play without any risk in most of the casinos. There already the casino used their own demo coins for playing gambling. And if there will be any option like gambling by using the bitcoin testnet then that will be also like demo playing.
And I can also say that most of peoples will say there is nothing fun on the demo games except learning the games.

Why using testnet to gamble while we have the Bitcoin itself, the name implies testnet I won't go use it for any other purpose except for the main purpose it was created as. In fact it's very good to gamble with trusted coin that has been listed in betting site than this one that is just listing on exchanged, however I never come across this exchange that listed them. Could it be that they are just trying to attract attention to themselves while people keep using that platform to trade and do whatever?

I also think it would be a bad precedent since such integration would mean it's functioning more like a regular cryptocurrency when it shouldn't have value and supposed to be for testing only. Though I would say if such actions continue and eventually booms (like more services doing the same thing), we may be seeing more frequent reset from developers, just a theory though.

I don't know if any casino or gambling site has the option to participate in gambling with testnet bitcoin as of now. However, it is not possible to say with certainty whether it will be launched in the future with the evolution of time. But since there is no valid value of Testnet Bitcoin so far, it is very likely that gamblers are not very aware of this Bitcoin.  However, gambling and casino authorities are not making any plans with this testnet bitcoin.

I was really surprised about this when I first saw a thread about it on Bitcoin Discussion. People will really take the opportunity to make money off of anything.

So, the question here is, would you like to see a casino that allows you to bet with Bitcoin Testnet?

I'd say I am indifferent to it. I mean, I don't really care if a casino allows gamblers on their casino to bet using Bitcoin Testnet. if I want to gamble I would rather use other altcoins.

This thread sounds some what incomplete for me, because what I know about testnet it mostly used for pre live activities, such as a demo activities that doesn't have any real life value, so gambling is somewhat more serious to be done on a testnet mode, when we can actually gamble with real live Bitcoin and if luck be with you winning becomes your portion and you can cash out in real life , any ways may what you looking for is somewhat different from what I can point out from this whole discussion so for that I will continue to read response and comments to get clearer picture of the discussions as we move on this topic.

Why would casino accept Bitcoin testnet?
There is no financial value for this coins, not counting shady exchanges, so only reason to use this coins is when new casino wants to test if everything is working correctly.
Bitcoin testnet is almost the same as demo money on casinos.

No I wouldn't like it. Bitcoin testnet should be reserved for development and should be free of charge and with no value in monetary terms. We would be doing harm by opening a casino on it. Better just stick to something else. It's a network for testing, not for play pretend that we have lots of coins. There could be a second or third testnet for less legitimate purposes anyway.

I would like to see how they're going to do it. But me, personally using it and having that thought for its value, I am not a fan of it.
It should remain as-is, being used for testnets is its main purpose and with that, it's better to have it from there.
If exchanges lists it like that and starts to give value to it, I won't be surprised if the time comes that its volatility comes from nothing to something happens.
But it won't also be a surprise if it goes back to being nothing.

Most casinos currently accept a lot of coins that already tick the same upsides of what the Bitcoin Testnet has to offer and some of them even have a play money currency when it comes to testing certain games.

I see no need for it. I mean it's called "testnet" for a reason, it's solely for testing. Adding a monetary value to it would completely remove the idea that it's for testing and would pretty much remove the use case it was supposed to have.

And a coin with value already exists? Bitcoin exists. Other alts exist that casinos also use. Going out from the norm towards something like a testnet coin JUST because it was listed in the market sounds like a venture towards losing money and effort instead.

The integration would be the same as bitcoin, it works with the bitcoin node but in the testnet section, even address are different than the address on the main net.

Selling and buying Bitcoin testnet with something valuable is actually kill the definition of Bitcoin testnet. Sure you spend money if you want to mine Bitcoin testnet, but don't sell it, take it like as volunteering.

Nope, There's demo version available so I guess its enough since for me there's no difference if we use testnet and demo account if we want to do a test play. Also what I think its waste of time for some people since sometimes its hassle that we need to send it first on the casino before we can play.

But if there's a chance that a casino would adapt to this option if they see lots of suggestion then maybe I would try this. But for now I'm not thinking about this option since I'm really fine demo feature offer by the casino. Although there's little demand for bitcoin testnet, I guess its not enough to convince people to buy this and use it to gamble.

It seems that most members don't get it, even if you have said it twice. Testnet coins have value since they are listed and people is willing to pay a price for them; and investing/gambling with them is extremely risky even if they are cheap, because they can go to zero at anytime.

Absurd. The value of tBtc is zero so the zero would be the casinos' profit, altquick's volume is so low that any casinos' winning will not cover their expenses on running even  vacuum cleaner to clean their computers from dust. For gamblers it would be just waste of time.   Gambling must  lead to the   measurable result for both gamblers and casinos.

Back to the basic question, what is the purpose of betting using the bitcoin testnet? if it eventually resets, i will choose to bet using assets on the main network. Moreover, with the possibility of a reset, will any crypto casino be willing to implement bitcoin testnet? they will also do useless things in the end, right?

Exactly, Besides tBTC is for testnet purposes so I really doubt a real gambler will still choose this currency to play in the casino instead of using casino fun tokens or demo mode. Most of the casino games now has a fun mode to try the games without the need to use test tokens.

So far, I never own or mine a testnet Bitcoin because I don’t have any purpose to use it. I think most of the testnet owners are developers which is not the market of the casino as players.
