There are multiple ways gambling websites detect that you are using a VPN:
1. You are using an IP that is blacklisted and known as a VPN IP.
2. Since VPNs give you a shared IP address, there is a high chance that many people visited the casino from different devices with the same IP. This way casino knows that there is something wrong with the particular IP and thinks that it's a VPN IP because it's shared by many people.
3. One day you log in via your original location, then from Germany, then from Singapore and so on. This gives them enough data to know that you are using a VPN.

Some of those techniques might not be accurate and may return some false positive results but that’s more than enough for the casino to flag the user’s account as suspicious.

I could be totally wrong but I have a feeling the OP is hoping to find a way to not get detected when using VPN. I remember the OP asking questions in the past as to whether casinos would confiscate the funds on an account if they found out the owner of the account was using a VPN.

Well regardless of what his aims of asking the question is, wether he want to use the format to hide under the radar of being detected and just like my first comment pointed out that the reason why some gambler choose to use a VPN is to avoid the restrictions, so for that the casino have developed mechanism to keep that under check and since the issue of VPN offense is debatable, some casinos allow von usage while other prohibite VPN usage on their websites and at that they clearly state it out on their terms and conditions which a gambler need to know if not he or she will get caught and account can be blocked with all the funds in it.

Just to clarify this point: if a casino allow the use of VPNs then they only allow it for users from non restricted counties.
If a casino encourages users from restricted countries to use VPNs or any other tools to bypass their own restriction, then such casino can not be trusted and you should avoid it at all costs, because no reputable service provider will help you break their own rules. Otherwise why having those restrictions in first place!

I’m not sure if he can provide specific answer since this kind of question probably falls on the NDA of the casino due to the sensitivity of this topic.

@OP think about this, If everyone here knew their method to detect VPN use I doubt cheaters will be caught frequently. Their method is far too complicated and hard to bypass that’s why it’s still working until now.

The only way I feel it will be easier for the casino to detect such users is if there is any activity they consider suspicious and they ask for any form of verification document that will reveal their real location.

Again, it's not the case and I am genuinely surprised why some think it's just about matching IP with KYC.

There are hundreds of websites out there that block VPN users, I know games that block VPN users, they don't perform KYC, they don't check your logs, and the moment you try to visit with a VPN  you get an error. It's not just casinos, sites with ripped movies, even damn porn cam websites that do this, not even talking about the big legit streaming ones.
There are ways to block a VPN the moment you access the site, many here have pointed it out,  you pay sum to a one of those websites that index VPNs and you have a blacklist with hundreds of thousands of IP updated to the hour.

There is NO WAY to permanently fool a website that wants to block VPNs unless you use a dedicated IP on your own server for it, the moment your IP is shared with other users it's the moment things can go wrong, maybe in a minute or maybe after 6 months but it will.

This is not entirely correct.

Most people are using dynamic IP address which make your IP address keep changing even you're didn't move to anywhere. Let's say that you're live in Los Angeles, but your IP address could show you're in Washington, Dallas, Boston etc.

Who is doing the assigning of the dynamic ip address, the isp or the router? Because one article I read elsewhere said  the ISP, the other said the home router. Can a home router also moonlight as a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)?

I read an article a while ago that VPN operators may offer you either the static or dynamic IP, it depends on their general service and the specific/special service options you subscribed to. But you should know that your local IP could be dynamic too without you interfering with it from home or anywhere. This is however common in most countries, even mine is dynamic. This is for security reasons according to what I further read about it. But this dynamism of IPs may still not hide the gambler from the detection of casinos, once the IPs are generally offed by VPN providers, they can be easily detected. Unless they offer you one of their uncommonly assigned IPs and make it personal for you, which you would have to pay more for.

I believe some other users here might have answered this same thing, but just incase, you need to know that this is something you can possibly only find out from casinos alone, or possibly someone who have worked in a casino before, if such a person is a user on this forum, then expect an answer if he or she will be willing to share.

But aside from the above, I will like to let you know that there are softwares that can accurately, or close to accuracy; detect and tell if a user is accessing a service or site through a VPN, and this mostly work if the user is using a free VPN which usually comes wit a shared ip address.
Maybe by searching through google, you may likely find some of this softwares, but it's hard to tell which works and which doesn't until you try them.

Well, you are right about the VPN, this is one of the surest ways for casinos to accurately without any doubt burst their users who are playing or accessing the casino through a VPN service, and one of the trigger for this is through the use of public VPN, public VPN exposed one ip address to alot of users making use of that VPN service, and if there be another person somewhere who was assigned the same ip address as you, and he or she is also playing on that same casino, this raises a flag on the casino's system for multi-account, the casino can then assign kyc verification for all the accounts that is using that same ip address, this is how some gamblers end up losing their money as well as their gambling account on that particular casino.

Some gamblers may have considered using a VPN to bypass country restrictions, others because they want to hide the real IP of their devices. Using a VPN for any reason is absolutely intolerable by any casino, so it's best not to use one.

Any casino can tag their account as suspicious not on the first day, but in most cases the casino will tag it when this account wins big amount bet and wants to withdraw the winnings.

To a very basic level, they may know about your location when you register and share your county details in your KYC. After that if you log in the site through VPN, your location changes and they can assume you are using a VPN. This is a very lame explanation of this by me but i am sure that with advanced technologies emerging everyday, it will be very easy to detect who is using VPN and who is not.

I was helping a couple of users with a gambling site solve an issue. So they showed me what wrong has been done by the users. Though they don't show me how they did it, I realised they have a special security system.

However, detecting VPNs isn't a very hard task when you have been using a gambling site. They would analyse the IP address, geolocation, DNS request, and advanced fingerprinting technique. There might be more ways to detect, I am just mentioning, that are simply available over the internet. This is a million-dollar game, they must have advanced technology.

Aside from that the inconsistency of the time zone registered on the platform.  Indeed it is easy for the gambling platform to detect players that use VPN and they are very confident when they accuse players of using VPN to breach their terms of service.

True that even if a person uses VPN on their first visit of the site, the gambling platform can easily tell whether you are playing VPN or not after some days of activities on their platform due to the process stated on the earlier replies.

There's third party services you can subscribe to prevent spam and these services are pretty good to detect VPNs.
Not only do they have extensive lists of which provided supports what IP, if an IP gets recorded as a VPN IP it stays in their database forever as a tainted IP. Moreover they also gets reports from their partners. If you DDOS a site with your IP, overgo rate limits all the time, try to post spam etc. you get put on the naughty list. So all this collective intelligence is accessed by online casinos through a simple subscription. If they want to block VPNs completely you stand no chance.

I don't know if there are any special tools they use, but to me, it's very easy to know who is using VPN in some cases. And they can also confirm their suspicions by asking the user to provide KYC verification documents, which clearly show their country of residence, which will be different from the IP address the VPN will give to the gambling site.

I think this your answer is very correct for the Op to take home. There is no specific tool or software or app for that jobs but if the person device IP address has been changed from one direction to another place then the person is using VPN. There are times, the person registered with VPN but along the line because of one thing to the other he would like to use VPN and once he does the location change.

Thru IP the owner can see your IP and if there's sudden changes on the activity especially with the location used and it frequently happen then they assume that that user is using VPN. There are some instances that they verify the real location of the user thru asking them to do KYC that's why some people found out located in restricted regions then got issue regarding on that situation.

I dont think that any gambling have such application to detect a particular person who is using VPN in their website because VPN used to do with a location so any person can claim that there are in one particular location why there are not in that particular location so we don't need to blend anybody concerning that so I know very well that the different persons make different location so I have not seen any gambling website who is interested to know the location to our gambling with in their platform except that there is a suspicious customer that they have to track to know if you identity

Oh sir John? I think I have heard of that name before. I think this man also owns a casino review site if I'm not mistaken which specifies or specializes in Slots games, hence this is why there is a Slot word in his name . It's great to have him here because we now know if who to approach in case this question sparks up again in the future. I think not many who uses a VPN are cheaters but some are only comfortable about it. This might still be related to privacy.

There are cheaters that have been caught out but their violations are different and they may not be even using a VPN to do their operations. Anyway, I think there is no way for a casino or any other websites to detect that we are using a VPN and if so, then VPN services will not grow this huge. There is still KYC now and that must be their only way to screw VPN users.
