success or failure depends on how sony develops their blockchain technology. because many large companies have developed blockchain technology, but in the middle of development they abandoned it for whatever reason. so let's just see how sony develops their blockchain technology and how it can benefit them.

By developing about blockchain, I think Sony will pursue progress towards a better direction, for the future by seeing the potential that everything can be created according to their expectations, and playing an important role by holding a process in the digital world in today's era.

Indeed, Sony is a big industry, so they make blockchain a part of the user, and Sony sees all of that as a big opportunity for the future, even so they have considered it carefully, yes, we will continue to see the developments.

I really hope so. Innovation, not marketing basically nothing for the future of the blockchain for the sake of bloating it and hype around it Grin

Will Soneium have its own native token?
I hope so, now this is a real application of token with a known brand/company.

Do you think Soneium can be successful and bring benefits to Sony?
With or without soneium, sony is already a successful company. So what I think with what they're doing right now is just adopting to the trend. There's potential and projected benefit for it that they've seen and that's why they're making it. It will be better if they're going to do it with games and able to earn real money but have a different and better twist than p2e.

Should companies develop their own blockchain or should they use existing blockchains in the market?
They should choose the existing ones. I've seen in the past that there have been attempts to it but because those companies that have done it weren't known, they're not able to make it.

I don't see anything new? or anything integrated that would actually improve their services or the experience of their users. In the first place they're acting like web3 was something that had a web3 only userbase but no lol, any web3 users are probably users of your regular ol web, if there's any actual difference. Not to mention that they probably won't even touch the D from decentralization, let alone decentralization itself.

Personally, I don't think big companies need to touch blockchain. I don't see any reason for them to do so lol. I'd much rather they improve their damn services instead really.

Yeah. But if companies need to launch their own points/rewards system, they'd need to use Blockchain tech for that. Especially for security and immutability. Creating a L2 network instead of using the main ETH blockchain (L1) is a smart move. It will eliminate unecessary burden on ETH. Plus, the company will be able to control its own chain without limitations. Now, I don't know what consensus mechanism "Soneium" will have, but I guess it will be one that will prioritize scalability above all else. It will be centralized, of course.

I think other companies will copy Sony's Blockchain model if it becomes a huge success. Perhaps, "Soneium" will provide benefits to PlayStation users? The only downside about L2 networks (and Blockchain in general) is that you need to be connected to the Internet to be able to use them. So if you're offline, you won't be able to obtain any benefits. Let's see how the working product ("Soneium") will perform. As long as customers show interest in it, don't expect it to go anywhere soon. Smiley

I think sony also interested in the prospect of getting revenue from their blockchain as well, though its not much if depending from revenue generated purely from transactions fee, they can always create defi or gamefi, integrate it with their game, now they can impose fee if they enabled micro transaction inside the game. sony definitely has something in mind with the creation of this blockchain that could generate astounding revenue or at least have the potential to.

opensea, the biggest NFT market place literally generated around $300m at peak NFT trend a year and I think this is what intrigued the higher ups of sony to repeat the same thing.

Also consider the fact of how much funding can go into it, and we shouldn't stop hearing about it anytime soon Grin
Though, sweet words are one thing, the real use-cases and usability - are another.
Only time will tell how this one will live up to the standards.
