BTC Pumpkin Carving Contest #2- @Mods

QQ , what would be the most appropriate board for it this year? I had it in collectibles 2 years ago as prizes were crypto coins but since all winners lived far outside the US , shipping to their countries was just too risky and ended up sending btc. Will probably just do that again, hence why I’m asking. Thx!

@Theymos hopefully you can assist me again with stuff like voting like you did last time. Would be much appreciated!  

Of course would appreciate a pin too when it goes live. It was such a big success for the forum last time, have to think it’ll be well received again. I’ll promote on r/bitcoin too and Twitter and what not, see if I can drive some more activity and new member sign ups.

I would say you can post it in Services board or Games & Rounds board.

In Services there are art contest or designs, while in Games & Rounds there are pie contest, pizza, and even art contest too.

If you're still in doubt to give either collectibles or BTC as the reward, better to post in Games & Rounds I guess.

Yeah decided will just go w straight digital orange coin. Figured games and rounds prob the best board, but was curious what Cyrus/Hilarious/Welch would prefer most or be best for them or whatever. Just a curtesy post. Well and to give some early heads up /help needed w pinning and help build in some voting parameters that only Theymos can assist with.

i took part myself two years ago and am already looking forward to this year, if time permits, there will be a pumpkin from me too

I’ll be upset if ya don’t !   I’ll also be doing one this year (carving). Last time I was between moving and starting a new job i believe and just got too busy.

Anyway I don’t care where I post it really, just want to do it where mods feel is best. Or maybe they don’t really care 🤷‍♂️ (also wondering if doing it self mod’d would be preferable and easier on them. The previous board where it was done can be okay for it however, it's no longer a new thing here and everyone that is active on the forum knows about it. If you post and the mods founds it not pleasing in the section then they can move it to the preferred section where they think is more suitable for it. Howbeit, I have never participate in this I would be very happy to join in carving one.

It's great that the Pumpkin Carving Contest is becoming a good tradition of this forum.

You say it "ended up"? Getting a reward in bitcoin is becoming the best reward one could wish for due to the cross-border nature of this cryptocurrency and within the framework of the BTC-forum, any other reward would look strange. Only BTC-transactions, only hardcore!:)

I think it would be a good way to attract attention to the forum bitcointalk.org from other internet platforms, especially when the reward is real bitcoins. I'm sure this year you, @ChiBitCTy, will get tired of expanding the list of participants in Pumpkin Carving Contest, and then, you will be exhausted choosing the winners.

A topic where you ask people to guess the price and give their reasoning would not be incentivized posting warranting movement to Games & Rounds. But because there is a prize, it is incentivized posting and should be moved to Games & Rounds according to the rules-as-written.

However: Almost all rules are subject to mod discretion. The reason for the rule against games with incentivized posting outside of "Games & Rounds" is to prevent unfair/excessive bumping and "last-posts"-filling except in "quarantine" sections which people can ignore.  In El duderino_'s games:
 - El duderino has no incentive to cause spammy replies. The prize is a true gift.
 - The game has a pretty high entry requirement which prevents the replies from actually becoming spammy.
 - El duderino_ very much prefers that the games be in Speculation rather than Games & Rounds.

Therefore, it's most appropriate in this case to apply mod discretion and make an exception to the rules as written; El duderino_'s future games of this sort can stay in Speculation.

Thanks Loyce! Games and rounds it is. I just wanted to be extra mindful of the mods with this. I think I’ll do a self moderated thread as well. Should have probably done this last time.
