Within the past few years, the world of gambling has indeed undergone lots of evolutionary stages which has potentially made quite a significant impact on the world of gambling. Hence the purpose for this thread, do you believe that virtual games are more addictive than the traditional real life games? Or the opposite.

This and several other characteristics of the Virtual games has the potential of leading gamblers into addiction.

What I really like about the virtual sports gambling today is that there is an option to just get your money back or they give you a payout option if you're unsure of the bet while you're still in it or if there is a possibility that you can win then the casino or app or whatever will give you a fraction of the payout. I just thought it very clever. I am really liking the betting apps tho they are a lot of fun.

I have never experienced that option, but I have done something that might be silly on a whim I tried it. I allocated some money to the casino with the amount of $ 50 and when the money was already in the casino wallet, on a whim I withdrew it again with the same amount but it was rejected by the casino with the note given "you must play first". From this I think that this option is not provided by all casinos, besides it seems impossible that a casino provides this option. With the length of time I have been gambling I have never experienced that, except as I said above on a whim I did it but it didn't work. Besides virtual casinos or not I think it is basically fun, but it depends on ourselves how we perceive it.

An unusual term is Virtual Sports Gambling. I'm used to the term e-sports. Therefore, at first I thought that this was some kind of new trend. In my opinion, there is no difference in the occurrence of gambling addiction between the varieties of gambling. The reasons for addiction are in the player's head, not where they play, in the real world or not. If this is an emotionally labile person, then there is a high risk of addiction.

There is no doubt you are correct but virtual  games or e sport as you call it can serve as a catalyst  to help speed up the addiction process, one can gamble on virtual games without really  getting addicted, as its almost similar to gambling on casino games. From where I'm from, majority of the gambler get addicted because  they gamble on football virtual games so a general conclusion has be drown that virtual  games are the main reason for addiction. And here is their fact, gambling on football games usually  take to to 90+ minutes before the final result is given out, and that could help slow the rate of gambling as gamblers have to wait for 90+ minutes and most especially their favorite  selections could be scheduled at week ends but virtual games can last for less than 5 minutes and its continuous through out the whole week days, however its easy accessibility makes it more available to be gambled on and abused by some gamblers.

It seems to me that football as a game, and as a whole subculture that has developed around it, starting from idols and ending with football fans, cannot be the cause of gambling addiction. This is just an external trigger for the onset of the disease, which some people have always been potentially prone to.
For example, there is such a game of Go - there is nothing at all depends on chance. But people play it for money and place bets! The problem of addiction is not in the games, but in the players.

Well, it's choice of the gamblers to either go for e-sports betting or for real sports betting. Both of those work for some people, while there's chance that the ones who prefer virtual games might get losses due to low amount of research available but if someone really understand's a player or team and knows their potential then such gambler can win some bets in e-sport betting. I've placed many bets on e-sport games in past and for me they weren't good and that's the reason I stopped betting on those games.

I have not participated in many virtual games. But i can definitely say that there is a wide difference between virtual games and the live sports games. It's not like everyone gets easily addicted to virtual games. Gambler can addicted both of the platform. I have been a sports bettor for a long time but when I was more addicted to sports, if there was no live sports going on I would focus a bit more on virtual games. Well, there is a good reason people around the world prefer to follow sports which are featured by real people, real professionals of the sports they play. It is always easier to become fond of real players and star players of their respective clubs, than spending hours betting on virtual sports, which do not give the same sensation of connecting to players and the choices they make during the match, those decisions which could make them become loved or hated by their own fan base.

It all depends on the individual, when we are talking about the effects gambling has on the brain individuality comes to the picture here...not everyone would allow the negative effects of gambling take over their mind, and both gaming systems are addictive it all depends on the gamblers preference. Totally the opposite in my case, I would rather and bet on a real sport event than Esports where this last one isn’t any fun to watch or observe the pure sport joy. In another meaning, what makes people addicted is that good feeling behind every experience you go through, with more times and chances to bet and reach the same level of satisfaction, adrenaline rush and winning joy from the bet, this is what makes anyone get closer to addiction and desire to repeat the same good experience, without thinking about the consequences.
Probably my experience in sports betting is different, I stick to only real events, sports I understand and enjoy watching, without betting on anything that I can’t observe or feel it’s based on luck, team skills, and analysis. While Virtual Sports in the other hand for me are only algorithms most of the time, something that is not realistic and cannot be joyful.

Virtual sports is a way to burn many stages for players to approach the results while real sports take participants more time as well as practice perseverance but in reality, real sports players are also very impatient and often find other sources to bet. And in terms of triggering more addiction, the absolute difference is not too much, one side will be more inclined to speed up the problem, the other side will provide more small ways, simply to squeeze more money from the gambler, and human passion will be endless once the game becomes more creative to make the illusion drug

Wdym traditional real life games? Like sports? or just gambling but in reality?

Oh I see, that's pretty different from what I assumed then. Also, pretty sure it's altogether different from "eSports" since that's a genre for sports on online games, not exactly the same as the "simulated and virtual" games that you talk about.

But anyway, I personally don't see any appeal to virtual sports themselves, especially since sports betting in the first place is to watch the sport itself and not just bet. I'd say if a gambler just wanted to bet they'd go towards regular gambling games like dice, slots, etc., compared to sports betting.

I guess you can argue that virtual sports were made so that an integration of say, sports and gambling games were made but honestly speaking, it would've been possible as well if someone made a game with intricate statistics of playable cards that are run into an algorithm to fight each other. That's basically what virtual sports are anyway, fight of numbers.

And to add with the escapism bit, if it's actually a thing pretty sure it's pretty low? Or at least, a lot minor compared to regular gambling addiction. It's not really gambling they're being addicted to in the first place after all, just the fact that they can escape instead. I'd imagine if VR was more developed then it's not virtual sports gambling they'd get addicted to, but VR itself instead.
