Before you can edit the Bitcoin Wiki, you need to have editing permissions enabled on your account. They are not granted by default to prevent spam, as the Wiki is not moderated frequently.
On this thread, you can request for edit permissions, which I can give by whitelisting your account. Having said that, there are a few steps that you need to follow before I can give you access:
- You must submit at least three edits,
at different times, to this thread. (edits to multiple pages will count as a single edit.) Each submission should be at least 3 days apart.
- The fourth time, if you are still interested in editing yourself, you need to post a short description here on what kind of stuff you will make edits for.
The reason why I have this system in place is because I can't just grant access simply because you ask.
Exceptions will be granted for well-known users and recently active members with a sufficient, undisclosed amount of merit or green trust. [Deliberately opaque to prevent exploit.]
I may also decide to assign temporary editing privileges at my discretion.
Do you really need edit permissions? If you are just looking to make a single change on a page, then it is better to describe it here so I can do it myself. It is not a good idea to enable accounts for editing that are rarely used. They can be hacked and re-sold to spammers.
How to requestThe format is largely similar to the old thread:
Username: <your Bitcoin wiki username [This is usually NOT your bitcointalk username]>
Edits: <describe the edits you wish to make here. You may use pictures and multiple lines if necessary.>
If you cannot create a Bitcointalk accountLet's say you cannot sign up because of the reCaptcha or cannot post because of Evil points. In that case, you can send an email to
bitcoinwiki-requests <at> notatether <dot> com
using the exact same request format. Make sure the title of the email is "Bitcoin Wiki Editing Request" or
it will be directed to Spam.
