Hey guys
I finally found my wallet private key from 2016!

But now I have a problem. How to swap BTC from the old network to the new network? What wallet will allow me to do this?

Your question is similar to the question that was asked not too long ago. This is the thread which will also be helpful for you:Withdrawing from paper - best practice

You can use Electrum wallet for it. Make sure you go through that thread.

Hey guys
I finally found my wallet private key from 2016!
Did you find an electronic file and whether or not it is encrypted or the alphanumeric to the keys actually written down?

But now I have a problem. How to swap BTC from the old network to the new network? What wallet will allow me to do this?
What do you mean old network? What wallet were the bitcoins stored in from 2010? Have you been able to import the private keys to a new wallet?

In 2010, I was mining BTC on my PC.  I did this for one year.  I forgot about cryto currency late and remembered now.  I still have this computer and disk.  But I have absolutely no idea where the BTC is.
I finally found my wallet private key from 2016!
So your 2010-Bitcoin turned into 2016-Bitcoin? None of this makes sense.

This doesn't make much sense to me because most wallets are not intended to bother a user with the private keys. Wallets manage the usage of private keys where necessary, but a user of a wallet shouldn't need to see or write down a private key. On request, yes, but not under normal circumstances. Well and Bitcoin wallets usually contain more than one private key.

It may be a communication issue, hard to tell from the little details you give. If it's really a private key in crypto coin space, then you shouldn't disclose it for obvious reasons.

How to swap BTC from the old network to the new network? What wallet will allow me to do this?
Someone else already asked this, I do the same: what do you mean by old and new network? I'm not even sure if I can assume we speak of Bitcoin when your topic is posted in Bitcoin Technical Support board.

There isn't another network. There is just one bitcoin network since 2009.

Maybe you are talking about address format? You have an old address format.

Your address starts with 1, not with 3 or bc (both segwit) as new wallet software. This is not a problem, you can send funds from legacy address to segwit addresses without a problem.

No, this is a different case

If this is different case, then there's no old network unless you talking about lightning network?
If your BTC is in lightning network, I don't think you can still recover your BTC from lightning network maybe if the counterpart did not force-close the channel, you can still recover it.

However, since lightning network is not common in 2016, then your balance should be in your mainnet wallet. Just import it to wallet that supports private keys, like Electrum and hoping that your funds still there.

But all this looks like bs..

You was mining in 2010.. Now you lost wallet from 2016...

I find that hard to believe. You claim to be an old Bitcoin miner (which amazingly many, many people claim to be) but don't know the basics of using a wallet. And in those 14 years you couldn't bother to learn how to use a wallet, even though you've been using Bitcoin in 2016.

I have no idea what you're up to, but you're wasting everyone's time by posting riddles instead of a detailed description of your "problem". This doesn't belong on the Tech board.

It's also possible that OP confused with one of altcoin that comes from forking Bitcoin (e.g. BCH). In this case, OP probably should read this thread LoyceV's Bitcoin Fork claiming guide (and service) which mention wallet that support those altcoin.

What kind of mumbo jumbo nonsense is this?
Bitcoin network is the same since then first days in 2009, there is no new and old network, so you dont have to ''swap'' anything, just import private keys into Electrum or some other open source wallet of your choice.

Bitcoin never changes networks, it will remain on the same network where the genesis block was created. As long as you still have your private key, you can open it in any wallet you want as long as they support importing bitcoin private keys. So, you don't really have a problem here, you just need to import that private key and you still have your bitcoins, on the same network and still the same amount of bitcoins as the last time you saw them.

There is no such thing in the Bitcoin network it's only happens with the shitcoins they switch from one to another and the holders need to swap before a deadline, but the bitcoins from 2016 or 2010, you will still be able to import the same coins in any of the wallets via private keys/mnemonic phrase

For starters just use Electrum which supports every address type.

I think you're onto him/her.

In 2010 you had to manually start a miner, so you had to know how the whole thing worked, know some basic code commands, spend time on forums to learn how to do it.
You had to do a lot of research and figure it out, so I find it hard to believe that someone who was an enthusiast in 2010 would forget how to use a search function 14 years later and think there are old and new bitcoin networks.

With Bitcoin, if you have private keys, you have your coins. If you lose your private keys or keys are stolen by others, you lose your bitcoins.

Now you can import your private keys to a wallet software like Bitcoin Core, Electrum wallet and check its balance. With Electrum, you can try to check and don't check BIP39 to see what addresses you have and what wallet gives you no empty balance.

There is nothing like old network and new network. Bitcoin blockchain has only one Bitcoin network. There are Bitcoin forks like Bitcoin Cash, and more but they are altcoins, and not Bitcoin.

LoyceV's Bitcoin Fork claiming guide (and service)
How many Bitcoin forks are there?
Importing your private keys into Electrum

With Bitcoin Core, you will have to do Initial Blockchain Download IBD, and it takes too much time. If you don't want it, use Electrum wallet.
[Guide] Verify and download Electrum wallet

Hey guys
I finally found my wallet private key from 2016!

But now I have a problem. How to swap BTC from the old network to the new network? What wallet will allow me to do this?

While a lot of users has made some points of you complicating things here in reference of your previous post, I won't jump in to justify that but it i may ask, what is the old network you have there and why do you want to swap? I am only concerned to tell you not to be so attracted to trends.

No, this is a different case
Probably his wondering if its legacy, native segwit or address format since bitcoin network has different format right. But still its only one network running in bitcoin.

Have you manage to retrieve it?
