Can the ignore button be on the profile page  instead of each users post  display under avater.
I don't know if I'm the only one experiencing this while using mobile,I do mistakenly ignore user while scrolling fast  sometimes and that's unknowingly,  I do miss such users post on a thread when I skim  sometimes because it's somehow unnoticeable until I find out that I'm ignoring such users probably while scrolling slowly.

I do not think there is any mobile users that this would have not happened to before. You can periodically click on your profile and then click on Ignore user options to see the lists of people that you put on ignore. I do not see it as a problem. Most people I accidentally ignored are known to me immediately and I unignored the person immediately.

You can see your ignore list on this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;sa=ignprefs. You can modify it there such as adding or removing members that you want to be on your list.

Not really sure if this feature is on BPIP.org extension but you can use that extension to add extra feature in the forum that doesn’t have here by default.

Sometimes it happened, but you can always check that on your profile.

just navigate to "profile" and then "Ignore user options" so you can see the ignore list, there you can review.

You are absolutely right because I could remember when I joined this Bitcointalk forum new I normally witness something like that when using my mobile phone to an extent when I ignored a User I don't used to know that I have ignored a user it was one day I noticed it and ever since that very day whenever I'm going through a thread I used to be very careful and anytime my hand accidentally touches ignored user just immediately I we just unignore the person. However, just like as you have said earlier I think such thing normally happened to most of us here.

Not really sure if this feature is on BPIP.org extension but you can use that extension to add extra feature in the forum that doesn’t have here by default.

BPIP extension does not support this mini feature as I checked two latest threads about BPIP, no description on this feature. BPIP users can know it better because mini features can not be described in these threads.

Clicks and taps sometimes can cause unwated Ignore, it happens.

I do miss such users post on a thread when I skim  sometimes because it's somehow unnoticeable until I find out that I'm ignoring such users probably while scrolling slowly.

If you know that users well, and you are skimming posts in a thread, you see that user, it's easy to click on Unignore under the username. No need to click on username and go to profile page, and get problem that you want to be supported.

The ignore button under a user's profile in a post shouldn't be removed, however, it can be added to the profile page of a user additionally, maybe under "Trust" or somewhere else on the page.

The problem you are facing doesn't need the button to be removed, a better solution I can think of is to have a pop-up asking for confirmation before you can put a user on ignore only to make sure that you are doing it willingly or it has been triggered by mistake. This way, if someone clicks that button by mistake, it won't put the user on ignore directly but it will ask for your consent first, and it will only happen if you confirm it.

I will suggest this change to @PowerGlove and see if he thinks it's something he would be willing to implement or not.

Edit: Suggestion submitted. Hopefully he will implement the change and then there will be a pop-up notification when you click on the "Ignore" button and such problems wouldn't occur.

This is actually a good and worthy suggestion for this feature I think. We see this type of notification on different extension regularly. If this suggestion will be accepted, then It will be good to the newbie as well as the all members of the forum.


Look, in mobile phone the window of the site are too small to read the topic. But sometimes we have to do since we have no alterative devices. So if you have pc or laptop, you should use them when you are in the forum. But if you are willingly to use mobile phone, you have to be more watchful when yo are in scrolling until further solutions come.

This is mostly experienced by mobile phone users but if you are using a computer or laptop you won't accidentally ignore a user unknowingly. Don't know if there a feature to check ignored users, if there is then visiting often to check if there are users you mistakenly ignored will help because when a user is being ignored, you won't be able to see any activity they perform in the forum. Is there is a feature for checking lists of ignored users?

Well, I guess you are more fond of Linux OS than Windows, however, we are talking about mobile phones here, and almost 98% of people use mobile phones with touchscreens. So, when we are accessing the forum or doing anything in general on a PC or a laptop, the odds of clicking things by mistake are extremely low, but when we are using devices with touchscreens, the odds of unintentional touches or clicks tend to be higher.

So, even though my suggestion isn't only for mobile phone users, it will provide more convenience for people accessing the forum on a mobile phone. Since the forum isn't very mobile-friendly, small additions such as this one could be useful.

when you said profile it assuming that you are talking of the profile of that particular of any user, let me correct this impression so that we will not be saying that the ignore can be found on the profile, it's obvious and understanding that profile of any user carries the information of the user, the place you can see ignore or you will make that mistake to ignore someone is when the person has already posted in a thread, and you can mistakenly click on the ignore on the ignore button, but for the profile of any user, I don't think that ignore button is on profile, and people usually make that mistake of ignoring unknowingly when they're on a thread, maybe reading

No, I don't think it would be a good idea to add extra steps for ignoring members, and there are no buttons available on member profiles.
Bitcointalk is not perfect when used with mobile devices, some would even say it's bad, but maybe someone could make a simple script to optionally hide or move ignore button and other elements.
New mobile responsive theme would probably fix this and many other issues, but don't count on it to be released any time soon.

Yea, it will definitely happen to you if you use mobile, but I believe it's something you can get use to before your rank gets to full member. I use mobile more frequently and I did had such experience when I was still a low rank too but after I noticed it, I was being more careful while scrolling and I also  look out if there's any ignored member that was not added by me.

This type of mistake to ignore users only happens when you click on something like username (with intention to visit that user's profile page) or some icons under username like email, website and social media links if that user sets up these things on profile page.

I don't know you or other newbies don't do this. Click on these things by curiosity about that user intentionally, or click on them unintentionally (mistakenly in another word), will you continue to scroll up and down for reading posts?

If you do this action, you will see that Ignored user and wonder what happened, what is this user, why I ignored him?
This step will help you to Unignore that user if it was ignored by any mistake.

More time to ignore someone justifies the reason to ignore. If I should do an extra click to ignore an idiot once and for all, it wouldn't bother me. If I have to visit the profile of an idiot to ignore him once and for all, I would gladly do so.
To me, I think the most appropriate suggestion to ignoring a user is the one Op suggested. But I honestly do not think it's a big deal whether or not implemented. After all, the ignore system of the forum is not strong. If you ignore someone, you are not supposed to be reminded that you ignored them anytime you meet them on a thread and neither are you supposed to know they wrote in that particular thread.

While this might be an excellent after effect solution, I think the OP is more concerned with not having this sort of error occur at all. I have done this a few times and when I find out certain users are ignored without good reason due to error, I just unignore them.
The suggestion from OP isn’t a bad one, as it makes users to be more intentional about their decisions on either a user would find his or her way into the ignore list of some user and not by chance. While the ignore list might be on a side for an after effect solution, having to be intentional is paramount.
