HBO Documentary alleges Peter Todd is Satoshi - Bitcoin Creator

The long-awaited HBO documentary on Satoshi has premiered, suggesting that the Bitcointalk user Peter Todd is Satoshi!!.

The film creator Cullen Hoback, believes Satoshi may have logged in the wrong account to make the adjustment. Given the newness of the technology, it would be challenging for anybody other than the creator to execute such a fix.

Little background check on who Todd Peter is: Todd is the creator of RBF and also one of  BitcoinCore developer at Coinkit, said to have bought his first Bitcoin in 2010 that's two years after the Bitcoin white paper was released.

It should also be known that Todd Peter said he knows who owns the private keys to the 1.1BTC Satoshi wallet and declared himself as Satoshi in 2013



So many fingers are pointed at Peter Todd for his early involvement in Bitcoin development and what he has done to the Bitcoin community.

Peter Todd denies it, he wrote " I'm not Satoshi" on his X account.

Is it even necessary to know who he is? , I do think Satoshi is the most humble man on earth to have hid his identity. Satoshi has done his part and has decided to make himself unknown so I do not think there is any need digging deep. The question is that , if Satoshi is known would it make any difference, will it not be exposing him to government attack and will it not lead to the end of bitcoins if pressured by the government?.
I think the bitcoin community should forget about the whole thing and focus on making the technology much more better .

Even if what they said seems right , then it will he true that he did not build it single handedly.

Here I rest my case on Satoshi but I do really think, he has done the best thing to this generation. We will keep appreciating him even in his pseudonomous

Anybody can be accused of been Satoshi Nakamoto, just the same way Sir Theymos has many times been accused of been the real Satoshi too. So I'm happy Peter Todd was able to quickly come out earlier today to clear the rumor of him been the real Satoshi as HBO claims in the documentary that is currently circulating across the internet.
However, I was able to do my own personal research about Peter Todd's 5 Bitcoin wallets he has used on to forum to see if I could find any with a huge sum of Bitcoin (i.e from 1000 to 50,000 BTC) but I couldnt find any, but only one of his wallet where he was seen to own just only 638 BTC worth $39million dollars with today's current price.

So I doubt Peter Todd been the real Satoshi

I guess there is nothing to think about since the accused (if it's a right word), has already come out to deny the rumor that was made claiming that he was Satoshi. Though, whosoever made this conclusion from those few post, actually made the claim based on what looks very much like an evidence to him, but if we all look at it from different point of view, we might slightly disagree.

Now, let's take the first image above for example. I believe majority of us on this forum starts our conversation with "of course" especially when we agree to someone's statement, so I don't really know why HBO would come up with a conclusion that someone actually created a thread, and later on accidentally login into another account to agree with that same thread that was created. The whole story doesn't add up.

And as for the second image, I can't really understand what the entire discussion was all about, but he never used the word "I", but he used the word "we". So he wasn't just the only one that figured out whatever they where interested in finding.

The bottom line is, the accused has come out to deny the claim, so we all should probably move on with our lives and wait for who is next to accuse of being Satoshi. It might even be you @OP.

I believe this is not the first time,on several occasions lot of persons have been accused of being Satoshi.Fews weeks back,I was watching videos on YouTube and I came across a video where a man denies he's Bitcoin founder.The whole shit about the real Satoshi is just tiring and not really necessary.
I see no reason why the world is so curious to discover the real Satoshi,an inventor chose to be pseudonymous, should that be a stress to others? Satoshi Nakomoto will be recorded on history as one of the greatest inventor because of his unique identity.Its actually a wise decision Satoshi has taken never to reveal himself to the world,let's just take a good look at this,the governments are against Bitcoin and if they are against Bitcoin how much more would they treat the inventor of what they are against,it's clear that he won't be treated fairly so he knew it before time.

My own take on this matter is everybody should relax on trying to find out who Satoshi is. If Satoshi wanted to be known he would have made it possible from the very beginning. Just imagine what it would be like for someone who created one of the most talked about innovation in today's world to keep himself unknown. Not many people would have done that, as many people have wanted to be known so that they will be given awards upon awards and their name going down the history lane. But this is someone who cares about the liberation of humanity from the oppression of governments around the world and choose to be anonymous then why are we bothering to know who he is. People should stop chasing clouts and focus on other matters. If Satoshi is known it will change a lot of things and this is what Satoshi has tried to avoid from the beginning. So whoever that's doing any form of digging should stop it and embrace the gift that Satoshi gave to humanity.

this has been my opinion on this issue. If Satoshi felt it was necessary that his identity be revealed, he would have done that long before and would have gotten a lot of recognition by the international community as well as the Bitcoin community. For his safety and that of Bitcoin, he has decided to remain incognito and people are still trying to unravel his true identity. If Bitcoin wasn't successful, no one would have made an effort to discover who Satoshi is but now that Bitcoin has become one of the most talked about technological innovative a lot of people are trying to hide under it to show that to they have a knowledge about who Satoshi is. If they needed concrete information about Bitcoin, the likes of thymos would have been even the right person to point hands on for help and not trying to depend on whatever post create by a forum member for their claims. If they like let them bring up names or someone should come out to claim that he's the Satoshi it will only take a while before people discover it's already a false claim. Whenever the real identity of Satoshi would be unravelled that's if it will ever be,  it has to come with tangeable claims that can't be denied relating to his number of Bitcoin holding still in his possession and other reasons that will make us believe that such person is Satoshi. But outside of those kind of things, all this once are just for views and nothing more.

Nothing much wey peso go think rather than believing sae the puzzle of who Satoshi be, it's hard to solve. The more people try to solve it, the more their findings are to be wrong, getting the wrong results of whom they thought Satoshi to be.

I like the way wey Peter Todd don come out openly to debunk the information alleging him to Satoshi. By now, HBO go don rest with his unravel discovery of Peter Todd to be Satoshi.

I don't really know why most people can't understand that the whole Satoshi unveiling/discovery thing isn't working. Satoshi literally left with no trace, which is even surprising to see that the current advanced technologies and computations can't get a valid data that id's him. He was literally smart enough to make the whole thing clean. I have watched few videos on YouTube where they most times say that he probably lives among us, and he can be anyone of us.

If I remembered correctly, he said something like leaving Bitcoin in safe hands, before disappearing. He has done a great job by introducing a technology that comprises of multiple great ideas, so we should probably make use of the available technology, especially as Nigerians who understands how important Bitcoin is, especially in this current economic crisis.

Absolutely! I believe HBO only went through all that stress because of the traction they would get and mindshare among crypto users and they were right. Satoshi is one key piece of Bitcoin that everyone is yet to crack — they did so well because it got everybody talking. There were plenty of market voters and players for market to max bid who HBO might say is Satoshi in their documentary and a group of people went on to create endless shitcoins based ob the narratives.

In all honesty, we are all Satoshi and this long time quest of finding out his identity has ti stop.

The Govemment are the ones making research trying to uncover the identity of the creator cause that's their only chance of controlling Bitcoin, just the way they're regulating Ethereum and other Centralized coins today. The Bitcoin community has nothing to do with it.

So it actually shows that wallet is Peter Todd's active Bitcoin wallet he sends money into it regularly.

Peter Todd isn't Satoshi Nakamoto.  Please, it's better to focus on topics that add value and increase ones understanding rather than dwell on the subject of finding out who the originator of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency is.

Ever heard of a wallet dust attack? Those coins do not appear to be something Todd would transact with; instead, it appears that some people are sending dust attacks to track the wallet's activity. It happens. It's also possible that he just wants everyone to believe he has no other wallet than this one in order to get everyone off his back.

There was no such thing as a signature back then, and if I were Satoshi, I would surely create another account under a new name so that I could continue to answer questions while impersonating someone else. There were too many issues to be answered when he went missing; Satoshi might still be here on the Bitcoin technical board answering questions and solving problems: he couldn't have disappeared without reading the forum.

I laughed when I read this, I considered your statement to be sarcasm because why will signature be the first thing to come to your mind abi you think say Satoshi broke to they run signatures assuming it was available then? What should come to your mind for someone as influencer and respectful as Satoshi to create a second account, should be to hide his identity (stay more anonymous).

Obviously he isn't, I think theymos is lol. Infact we're all Satoshi. Anyone contributing to the growth/adoption of Bitcoin is Satoshi in my books. Bitcoin isn't a one man project as they're trying to make it one. We're all involved in Bitcoin growth so we're all Satoshi.

God, looking at some names on that thread and how long they have been into Bitcoin, I can only imagine how wealthy they should be if they bought then and held up to this day. We might be saying the same thing in the future so guys don't forget to buy and hodl and forget about who's or isn't Satoshi.

I've talked about a similar topic in another board recently and I'll still stand on the ground that HBO only pulled this recent stunt of giving a fake name just to attract more subscribers, Satoshi is a name that everyone who's into Cryptocurrency or has an idea about it are so eager to know and they (HBO) are aware that whether they give a fake story about his identity or not the idea of identifying the person behind the name would make people more anxious to watch the Documentary thereby attracting more subscribers, like i said in the other thread, they played a smart one and it payed off cause lots of people were really anxious to know who they'll mention. Well at this point the identity of Satoshi is not my problem and has never been since am more focused on building my portfolio with more Bitcoin, infact if Satoshi wanted to take the glory for his creation he won't had made himself anonymous and just like CryptoprenuerBrainboss has said, we all who contribute to the growth of Bitcoin through buying and selling are the Satoshi's and what matters is accumulating more of the coin for future purpose.
