On Sept. 30, Alejandro Arcos was sworn in as the mayor of Chilpancingo, the capital and second-largest city of the Mexican state of Guerrero. The newly elected mayor didn't even last a week because, on Sunday, he was assassinated, with his head severed and placed on the top of the vehicle as a reminder to local government officials that cartels run the show.

Sad news. It can happen anywhere even in the US. The two assassination attempts on the Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, were not carried out by Mexicans but by traditional Americas. You wouldn't generalize that because a mayor was shot by drug cartel, then all Mexicans moving to the US are criminals. There are criminals in all countries of the world, which is why one of the documents for visa application is a police report that shows that such an applicant has no connection with crime.

Historically, the US has always been a friendly country for refugees and those fleeing violence, racial discrimination and political oppression. I don't think any government can stop this flow because even the US has been structured to accept them.

Well this is obviously disgusting and very disturbing news coming from Mexico, even though cartel violence is a relatively common thing there, sadly. It would seem to me this specific politician had very strong convictions against the illegal trade and possession of drugs, which were completely contrary to the business of the local cartel, so it was decided he had to go, for the business to continue with no friction in his jurisdiction.
The fact they left his head on the top of his vehicle was because the whole thing was supposed to sever as some kind of warning against other regional politicians who dared to do against the will of cartels... May he rest on peace

Oh yes, it's a sad news to experience but the truth remains that this can happen anywhere including in the USA. As a matter of fact, Donald Trump have narrowly escaped murder attempts for the second time which occurred during his recent political campaign rally. There are also incidents of Republican politicians like Scalise Steve who was shot in 2017 and another attack on Pelosi's husband which occurred in 2022. So it will be inaccurate for the OP to make such conclusions yet.

What I can say alternatively is that the political violence in the Mexican country is mostly associated with the drug cartels and other sheddy business umpires thriving in the country. Making it quiet mandatory for politicians in the Mexico country to attach more intelligence to their team and become more security conscious about their dealings because this incident is just a signal to the next occupant of the same position as well as others to not lose their guards.

In the USA, anyone commiting a crime would try to stay low profile and hide from police and law enforcement as long as possible, so they can avoid going to prison, obviously.
In the case of Mexico, it is different. Those assassinations are supposed to be warnings and a demonstration on what likely is going to happen to those who dare to oppose drug Lords in Mexico. There are no drug Lords in the United States, only distributors, so crime works in a very different fashion.

Also, amplifying criminal acts committed by immigrants seems to have turned into a viable political strategy in this presidential race, it won't appeal to many people but it will certainly fire up the Maga crowd.

The US has always allowed people in from other countries. There are migrant workers from Mexico all over the place. Questions are:
- To what extent are they being monitored when they cross the border?
- Are they being prosecuted properly when they act criminally?
- Why are many of them receiving so much monetary help when other people in the nation are living in poverty?
- Why are they being invited in? - for political reasons?
- Why are they being allowed to vote?, something that has never been done in the past, and is not right... should be considered election interference the way they are being used in the voting process.
- Why are loads of them being dropped in certain areas?, like the 20,000 that were dropped in Springfield.

There are many other questions like these, like questions related to diseases they might be bringing in... like Covid.

The simple assassination that is in the OP shows that there might be a lot of criminal activity coming in with these folks. Seems that drug cartels are being 'invited' in by the current administration.

That’s terrible, Mexico has some truly wonderful areas to be but this is a reminder of how dangerous it can be there. The cartels are extremely dangerous but usually you don’t find trouble with them if you are just a regular citizen. There aren’t any details on it but I wonder if the Mayor was getting in the cartels way of business.

But the average people are also benefiting from the spoils of war. The reconstruction contracts and the shady oil deals in most destabilized nations are used for the good of all. I pay the taxes I am required to pay. Do you pay Japan taxes? Probably not. Why not? Because you aren't required to pay Japan taxes.

In reality, someone who stops paying taxes he never owed in the first place, is someone who is benefiting both himself and the taxing authority. Taxing authorities don't want to be collecting taxes from those who don't owe the taxes. Why not? They can get in legal trouble for collecting taxes that are not owed to them.

People in the US are not charged with "tax evasion" for not paying IRS taxes. Rather, a person that has the same name as the man/woman does is charged. And the charge is made by THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. In the US, a person/man/woman is allowed to face his accuser who gets sworn in, and gets on the stand to be questioned by the accused. THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA can't get sworn or take the stand, because it is just a name on paper. This means that there is no accuser. No accuser means no crime of tax evasion.

It all falls under more than one Constitutional things. The first is the Contract Clause. Nobody, not even government, can take private property from people unless they agree to it by contract or agreement. The second is the 6th or the 7th Amendment where there must be an accuser in court that can be questioned.

It's funny how you think that government can steal private property from people in the United States.

Of course this kind of violence is extremely easy to end by ending the drug wars. We don't need an elite class telling us what we can and cannot put in our own bodies... that is for us to decide individually, not for a bureaucrat to decide for us. Human rights are actually very important and they really do work in real life to make the world a better place, as we wouldn't have drug war decapitations at all. Do you see the head of one legal pharmacy trying to decapitate the head of another legal pharmacy owner? It never happens.
