Sent to self (PM)

If this is being automatically done while sending a reply, this should be corrected. I mean while adding a reply to a PM, if myself is added to PM and a copy is sent to me also, there should be some notification displaying this. You cannot assume everyone to check the PM box to confirm this bug.

It might be useful in having to create like a draft but, that too exists and as such, sending pm to self seems odd and shouldn’t be.

I do send PMs to myself when I need to send PM to several members regarding a situation like inviting them in campaign and so on. It's a good feature for me so far.

I don't think that's a problem at all rather it's kinda useful. You can use this to save stuff you need. I'm guessing alot of forum users do that too. Think of it as your personal notepad! As for me, I do send a lot of PM's to myself to save information, or make reminders, or to make grocery list, lol. Maybe not on the forum but on other platforms.  If it isn't causing any harm, then let it be as it is. Even if it's a bug, it's a useful one!

You actually found this out haha I am surprised. I mean it's the most random mistake, and you found a mistake if it was not kept as it is now on purpose. In Whatsapp or on any messaging app I have to keep some text that I can get quickly, so I use my own number to send those things, and that's how I can easily access to the media and text quickly besides starring them.

I think now we can do the same here as this can be used to send ourselves messages of some topics or posts that we want to keep in mind to read later to post later or for any reason. It's not that efficient, though, but still with more efficiency I would love it and have to say there is no need for the admins to correct this feature.

You actually found this out haha I am surprised. I mean it's the most random mistake, and you found a mistake if it was not kept as it is now on purpose. You know, after the whole idea that backed up this thread and the way it’s proved useful to a lot of persons, I found myself using it more frequently lately. Not really on the forum but, it’s proved useful in saving links when I encounter something interesting on the web
Given that the history of chats are stored and could be regenerated, having to send pm to self has that unlimited approach towards recovery all the links. So yeah, I use it now, Philipma1957 bought me over and it’s pretty useful you know.

Hopefully, you're not using it to save sensitive stuff. This forum's database has been breached before.

If I wanted to save something or send it to myself, I would use an end-to-end encrypted messaging app. Not a forum's PM system. And definitely not by email (unless the email service also uses E2E encryption, like Proton Mail - which I happen to use primarily).

Sending PM to Self

I did it several times, maybe two or three times I sent messages to myself, I did that about 6 years ago, when I was still a jr member.

Only I didn't check the (To) and (Bcc) features.


My name was written there, so I immediately sent it and I received an email notification, but when I received the email I laughed to myself, why didn't I delete my name and write the recipient's name, stupid, it turns out it was my own fault, for me it's not a big thing, we just have to be careful first before sending messages to other people.

Of course not! No one is stupid enough to save their sensitive stuff in the forum's PM system. Like I said previously, I only use it for daily things, like making reminders, marking special dates, making a list, etc.

I have heard of proton mail before, a lot of times and have apparently seen a lot of users using it. Always wanted to give it a try but never did. Not sure whether it needs any special requirements or has any geo restrictions. Currently, I only use Gmail as my primary email service.

Later edit: Just registered, already loving it. Paid plan would have been better though!

Yeah saving links and editing the same messages is a good idea. I used the bookmark, but that would not be that efficient, as sometimes I am using a different device and different browser and without signing in too. And In order to find the bookmarked topics and sections, I have to search them manually, which eats up a lot of time, and the worst thing is on mobile I bookmarked them in different folders and on PC on different create confusion, which can be solved, but the topics are just too much now.

But from now on I will try to make a list of all the topics I want in favorites and then send them to me, so this will solve my problem ultimately. Thanks for the idea, as only the first time I had to be a little careful, as changing the username at every message can be mistake-prone, so, I can quote myself and make easy pms.
