Try to seach in that email the keywords like bitcoin and crypto, maybe that will give you a hint.

What does your windowslive email have to do with whether you had coins or not?
Did you use that email address to register with an exchange? Or did you use your email address to store a wallet file / seed in your drafts?

There's a likelihood they did and the only way to find out is searching keywords like Bitcoin.

Hello, so the thing is I'm not sure do I have coins. I had windowslive email years ago and I'm trying to find out have I even had coins.
You should first make sure that you have coins stored in your email, and if you do, try to check your windowslive email carefully. Sometimes the email side can be Hague, because your email was not registered with the exchange.

Hello, so the thing is I'm not sure do I have coins. I had windowslive email years ago and I'm trying to find out have I even had coins.
I don't understand you, you are doubting if you have a coin? Did you buy a coin or let me say did you invest in bitcoin or any coin, talking about your email, I don't think email has anything to do with whether you have a coin or not, if you have a coin in any exchange and have a password then login in the exchange and if you forget your password then you can use to email you use to register the app and get access to your wallet, but this one that you are saying you are not sure if you have a coin I am confused here. If you think you have bought a coin for years now and you forget your password you can use the seed phrase if have it and if you also have your email then you can get access to your wallet but if you don't have the email or seed phrase it will be very difficult for you to recover it if you believe that you have a coin then you can work and get access to it but if you are doubting you don't then leave it and start another way of planning to buy another one.

Hello, so the thing is I'm not sure do I have coins. I had windowslive email years ago and I'm trying to find out have I even had coins.
Your question is meaningless if you didn't buy bitcoin. You sound as if you don't even know if you bought bitcoin again. Well if you ask me i would say you shouldn't bother atol, because if you had one, you should be searching for your seed prase to sign in to your Wallet not searching something you are not sure of. Now if you search and find you once bought bitcoin and you don't have asscces to it, what different would it make? So it is pointless to search for the unknown.

You don't have coins on a windowslive email but you probably have kept the seed phrases or the recovery mnemonic phrases/words there which is the reason why we don't recommend doing it. That is just for the context maybe I am misunderstanding you and this is what you really meant but for the sake of clarity, that's what you have in there. You can visit outlook.com Windowslive account are now manage there Sign in through your windowslive email and password to access your mail. Maybe you can find something there Success.
In addition, this might help. using windows live mail - how to sign in?

windowslive is discontinued, I can't access email.
If that's the case then you cannot recover your old funds from whatever wallet or platform you use. So maybe try to do back tracking from the past to see if you can get a hint on what possible email you use and password set so that you can access back your old coins. This will be a though job for you especially if you forget already your those important details. But maybe you could find another hints maybe you store your password or anything on offline places since usually that's what people do especially if the account is important they write it on notebooks so hopefully you do the same to.

Perhaps because I have witnessed a similar case recently I'm interpreting what the OP means this way: he used his windows live account to register in some wallet, and now tries to access that wallet but he doesn't have the keys, nor the password either, and can't get a new one because he lost access to the email too. But the OP should explain the case better. If he truly held BTC in a platform accessible with that account, and can't log in because of that reason, if the solutions above don't work, in the worst case he can try to patiently guess or try to remember the password. But if he doesn't know whether he had anything there, it may not be worth the effort.

Yeah, that was also a thought by heretik that he had registered prolly to an exchange or online wallet and he can no longer remember it. If that's an old online wallet or an exchange, it's possible that those were out of service and gone forever together with his email if he didn't get any back up from there like those recovery phrases and only relied to the username and password of that platform.

Hello, so the thing is I'm not sure do I have coins.
You no need to have access to the wallet to know whether there are funds left, just the address is enough. Do you remember making any transaction from/to that address then it is possible to link the wallet address even you don't have an address. Talking about email, I don't think it's possible to recover access to it assuming the exchange is still operational and even if you accessed it's going to be nearly impossible task to access the exchange wit no data at all.

Reading your last lines, I'm not so sure about that. I remember that after the disaster of Cryptopia, users who lost access to their email addresses recovered control over their funds by taking a series of steps like answering to questions like the estimate balance, info about transactions (date, volume, addresses funds were sent from,...), IP addresses, and KYC ultimately. It can be difficult to remember all that information, but definitely easier than guessing your seed phrase, so perhaps the OP can consider this solution too.

That's not really a lot OP remembers. If OP can't remember having bought coins anywhere, there's hardly much to do. Probably one thing is certain, he never had own custody of whatever coins if OP left them in custody of whatever site or online wallet. OP, try what Ambatman suggested You can visit outlook.com Windowslive account are now manage there Sign in through your windowslive email and password to access your mail. Maybe you can find something there ...
I don't know what retention policy is applied by default. Your only option is to search in what is available when you succeeded to gain access again to your old email account. What's the reason you come up with your very vage story after all those years?

I am almost convinced that Outlook Addresses are being deleted after years of not being used. So unless OP has accessed his Email in the past few years, their Account is likely gone for good unfortunately. OP needs other information if they want to retreive their Coins, not an Email that probably does not even exist any more from a provider that has long since changed.

That is why it is important to keep our password and seedphrase safe by writing and storing it in a place where can't be reached out easily by anyone or even share it with your trusted one for situations like this. OP, if you are unable to recall all needed details and get through all alternative provided to you by forum members, that means you have to forfeit that account and forget about it and avoid such situation from occurring again.
