I believe when comes to being the CEO of a crypto company,.it is practically impossible to stay anonymous and people not to assume one holds a lot of money electronically, in decentralized assets.
It is very unfortunate, how this person ended up being kidnapped in such a way in a country and city which is supposed to be high within the standard or living and having low criminality overall.

Those who are recognized for their investments in Bitcoin and other assets and are also public figures have not many options left but to hire professional and private security firms, not all people in such positions are willing to pay premium security.

Being a CEO of any company, not only in the crypto industry, it's impossible to stay anonymous. Unfortunately, people who hold positions in companies with large financial sizes or instant access to a lot of money, have a high probability of being targeted by criminals. However, having at least one security person, usually their driver, is very common but isn't enough and I'm sure that they know it. On the other hand, having a big security team clearly shows your wealth and most of the time isn't needed. Plus it can look like an invitation for criminals. But IMO it doesn't matter. If someone/them wants to harm you, they will find the way and the means to harm you. The question is how difficult you want to make it for them if they targeted you... Undecided

This incident can be repeated if you buy a luxury car, an expensive watch, or any indicator of wealth that has nothing to do with cryptocurrencies. It is true that privacy will help you avoid 90%, but you cannot hide all your wealth, especially if you hold a position such as CEO. Then, staying in a safe area and with a security team will help reduce such incidents.
This is just one problem with having wealth and being a stakeholder in a public company, where even if you don't flaunt wealth around people, they already know that they are wealthy, which they need to protect themselves. But how long will one need to be walking with private security all around? It's as if it's stressful and a cage kind of life for those publicly known wealthy individuals.
