My router forwards port 8333 to my PC, which runs the client in server mode. But I currently only have 9 connections from the internet, which seems low to me. What are your numbers?

I believe by default the client aims for 8 connections. There are commandline/config arguments that you can use to specify a higher count.

You should have a lot more than 9. My client has 64 connections right now, for example. Looks like something is blocking port 8333.

It doesn't matter, what I try there seems to be some hard limit of 8 connections, which I don't understand. The maxconnections= parameter in the bitcoin.conf doesn't help (default should be 125 anyway), leaving out the bitcoin.conf changes nothing. Tried disabling the Windows Firewall, no change ... remove IPv6 stack from my router, no change. Disabled IPv6 on my WLAN card, no change. The addr.dat is 32 MB in size, so ther should be plenty of options knowing my IP, right?

Maybe you have confused TCP and UDP in your router or something. Or you have forwarded it to the wrong IP address.

Afaik it needs TCP 8333 and that is what's activated in a port forwarding rule + 6667 for IRC. Dia

I haven't bothered with that patch in a while, and now my node that accepts incoming connections rarely goes over 20 or so. It restarts every night, so it doesn't have time for a slow build up.

9 Connections is absolute maximum and that is after it ran for 8+ hours ... a bit strange, but at least there ARE connections ^^. Will try 0.6 RC2 as soon as it get's released ... RC1 doesn't work for me, GUI freeze.
