Nodes verify/validates blocks mined and the transactions included in the block. It invalidate any block and transactions that become not valid.

Just like @ Charles-Tim has already said, a node acts more like computer they helps you to store a copy of the Blockchain, validate transactions and helps maintain the integrity of the network so they all follow the Bitcoin protocol..

I think that most miners who use ASICs will not answer this question for you. They have many other problems, and most beginner miners study other information. When I started mining, I did not even study how the blockchain works for the first year, because I was worried about profit and proper equipment setup Cheesy

Aside from what other member said, full node give necessary data to construct a block. By data, i mean previous block hash and TX on mempool.

And learning that is optional, since miner usually connect to mining pool through stratum protocol where you just need to configure the ASIC.

As a newcomer to mining, there is no shame in not knowing a lot of information, but after learning about the hardware and its configuration, it is better to learn how the blockchain works.
Imagine a situation where you are talking to a professional builder and you ask him what cement is made of and he doesn't know. This is a real story that will help you avoid signing a contract with a bad builder.
