-snip-
They'll keep on jumping from country to another that's too open and corrupt and they can easily pay for protection. They will repeat the process while them earning lots of money from the gamblers that are too addicted to them bringing them more money repetively too.
Yes, it is always done by rogue dealers who just want to profit from someone's addiction.
Of the thousands of gambling websites that are created, all of them have been integrated with one server so that it will be very easy to manage them so that the profits will be greater because every gambling website gets extraordinary profits.

Their servers are also in areas that are not reached by laws that prohibit Gambling,
they are quite secure and thousands of websites are only spread out in areas that have the potential to get a lot of players with amazing addicts.

Developing countries with many individuals who are easy to pay so that everything can run smoothly will be countries that make profits for illegal bookies.

Illegal gambling will continue to carry out such a practice if there is no bold action from the government itself,
even more people will become addicted and then result in a lot of losses for its players.

Just want to share this news, which I think is very relevant to the topic.

The closure of POGOs might be one of the reasons why the Philippines is no longer on the dirty list, and that’s a good thing. This could improve the country’s chances of securing loans for development.

If POGOs had remained open and crime reports continued to pile up, the country’s status might have worsened. So, credit to the administration for taking action. Good job!

Quote from: https://business.inquirer.net/507959/ph-exits-intl-dirty-money-gray-list PH exits int’l dirty money ‘gray list’
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines is set to enjoy lower foreign remittance costs for its millions of workers overseas and better investor perception following its removal from the global dirty money “gray list,” which had put the country’s system against money laundering and terrorism financing under heightened scrutiny for over three years.

POGO isn’t a typical gambling operation, it’s run by Chinese operators and caters to gamblers outside the Philippines, meaning the country benefits mainly by collecting taxes without the risk of its own people getting addicted to gambling.

However, due to illegal activities linked to POGOs such as money laundering, crypto scams, and employee abuse. the government ultimately decided to shut them down completely by issuing a cease-and-desist order. As for new casinos opening in the country, they won’t be part of POGO since their target market is local players. Unlike POGOs, they are carefully regulated, so they aren’t the real problem.

Yeah the intension is not bad but the reality that happened is by far from what should it be, it's a gateway where casino will operate online and the revenue is for the government as taxes are implied, but just like what you just mentioned those illegal activities that being linked to this business really affects the name of the country.

Good thing that it was been prohibited in terms of cleaning the name and gaining the trust back to the international financial institutions as we they now start catering loans without any doubt of link money laundering.

Good thing that it was been prohibited in terms of cleaning the name and gaining the trust back to the international financial institutions as we they now start catering loans without any doubt of link money laundering.
With this news, I’m sure the administration will use it as an opportunity to borrow more money again. During Marcos' administration, the Philippines’ debt increased significantly, which is why, although this news is good, if the loans aren't used for real development, we’ll suffer in the long run.

Just look at the current administration, they have fewer projects compared to the previous one. If they keep borrowing without proper allocation and results, it’s just going to be another burden for the future.

I just heard this on the news, and it seems like this senator has a point. He said the government banned POGOs, which serve foreign gamblers, despite the huge tax revenue they generate. But at the same time, they legalized PIGOs, which cater to local gamblers. Isn’t that actually worse for the country, considering the Philippines is not a developed nation?

Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero has called for a review of Philippine Inland Gaming Operators (PIGOs), expressing concerns over their impact on Filipinos following the ban on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

That makes sense. The reason POGOs were allowed in the first place was to create jobs, generate tax revenue, and prevent locals from getting hooked on gambling since their market was outside the Philippines. It was only banned because of poor regulation. But now, they’re turning the country into a gambling hub for locals, despite the high poverty rate. A lot of people will definitely suffer from this, and it’s not a smart move.

Agree with both of you, they're bringing down POGOs which the intension is to create tax revenue outside our country while legalizing PIGOs which the direct clients are those poor gamblers in our place which we all knew that will have a bad side effects to those who will deeply engaged, let see if how Sen Chiz will prioritize this issue a good diversion in terms of impeachment hahaha..

That just reflects the kind of people sitting in the government right now. We already know how the system works, if the country struggles and people remain poor, they’ll rely on the government for aid like ayuda. And that’s exactly why politicians who hand out ayuda stay popular, while they continue to steal from the country’s funds.

Maybe the president has some interest in local casinos, or maybe his friends are operators. There’s a lot of money in that industry, especially since gambling particularly online gambling is huge in the Philippines. But these are just speculations. We don’t really know the real reasons, especially since the government also earns from gambling taxes.

Senators say it ruins the lives of the poor, but there’s also a positive side to consider. Instead of a total ban, maybe there could be efforts to educate people about responsible gambling. A harsh ban affects everyone, including those who play responsibly.

Only one senator said that, but that’s how they see gambling that it can ruin the lives of the ignorant and irresponsible. In the end, it’s the same thing. The government loses tax revenue from POGOs but gains it from PIGOs. The problem is, it comes at the expense of the poor, since they’re the ones who gamble the most. The majority of gamblers come from low-income groups.

Good job!
It is undoubtedly a good job but it is not fit for those who were dependent on it. If they could be warned and fix the problem and run the business then it could be better than closing the site, which could save all sided people which could not be possible for closure.

Trust me, there must be more than meets the eye on that. Whether with POGO or PIGO, we should know that politicians are self-centred beings and as such they evaluate where their interest lies first while taking actions on things. The senator may have a point but did he consider the overall implication of revenue and job loss to his country or he simply wants to be seen to have made a point? Those who were affected by that closure could be sole breadwinners for their families and that's hard enough, isn't it?

I guess there's politics behind and there's no intention to fix or do anything aside from closing it. This new administration is using pogo to make the former Administration as a bad and corrupt. They just wanted to show to the people that the former administration that they idolize is not the same from what they are thinking.  That's the reality behind. Just saying my personal take about your opinion.

But at the same time, they legalized PIGOs, which cater to local gamblers. Isn’t that actually worse for the country, considering the Philippines is not a developed nation?
So what's the difference between foreign gamblers and the country's gamblers? Isn't the profit the same, there are still some who enter the government. Maybe there are some other policies in it or maybe even certain interests that make the government decide on the regulation. But this is indeed quite confusing, they ban something but legalize it for their own citizens, is it possible that there is a fear that gambling has so far been more profitable for foreign gamblers than local ones?

Only one senator said that, but that’s how they see gambling that it can ruin the lives of the ignorant and irresponsible. In the end, it’s the same thing. The government loses tax revenue from POGOs but gains it from PIGOs. The problem is, it comes at the expense of the poor, since they’re the ones who gamble the most. The majority of gamblers come from low-income groups.
Actually, it is true about the effects of gambling, related to poor life, criminal increase, online loans, and so on that make many negative calculations. Yes, as happened in several countries, especially developing countries, the problem of gambling, especially online gambling is currently being widely discussed, because the effects are very extraordinary. However, if in developed countries, isn't that not a problem? In fact, it becomes one of the sources of income and also taxes that go into the country's income.

Just saying my personal take about your opinion.

Whatever their reasons may be, POGO has already reached a point where fixing the issues seems nearly impossible, making closure the only solution. The regulators in charge aren’t doing their job, they’ve been taking bribes from foreign operators, turning a blind eye to what’s really happening.

In fact, it almost feels like they’re being used as spies. This administration seems to be making a lot of allegations to paint POGO in an extremely bad light, despite the fact that it generates billions in taxes for the country.

Maybe once there’s a new president, POGO could make a comeback, but this time, under stricter regulations.
