I started betting on Stake in 2021, and I experienced what is called "beginners luck". I won some substantial money, but convinced myself I was an expert and could never lose...until I did.

Fast forward nearly 4 years and all I have to show for it is $100,000 in losses, $100,000 I could have used to buy gifts for loved ones, $100,000 I could have used to pay off student loans, and oh by the way, they are going to close my account if I don't verify soon. I was just scrolling through some of my betslips from the last few months, and I found this parlay I almost won. 6/7 of my predictions won, and it would have been close to $134,000 in winnings. That would have been my total net losses + my debts paid off!

I'm simply tired of this. I will not be verifying the account because I've decided that I will not be betting anymore. I've put myself in a difficult situation and I have many restless nights and nightmares because of this. I don't think I'm a bad sports bettor, in fact many of my predictions win, but I am addicted to parlays and I have been chasing my losses for too long. The pressure was just too much for me.

That is sadly how the story goes for 99% of people who get sucked in deep to this addiction and I do feel sorry for any gambler who ends up like this. It is a long way down to rock bottom and an expensive lesson to learn, but you have to take pride in the fact you identified it is a problem - many people never shake the habit. The hardest part is letting go of all that money you poured in, it's gone and you will never earn it back the same way. Do not be ashamed, we all stumble and fall in life, just consider it a lesson that you have learned and you will be richer in the long run. I think it’s just kind of dangerous to start gambling with a win, because you will find it difficult to stop even when you start losing, because you are going to be having the confidence that you will win back your money, and you won’t want to give up, because of the win which you started with, the confidence will still be strong. Op I'm so sorry about the loses, well it's better you took a great decision earlier before it even got worse than this. Mistake most addicted gamblers make is that, they don realize on time their mistake and work towards it. Its possible some realize on time but the urge for chasing after loss would definitely mess with their head not to give up so easily and by the time they realize they must have gotten into problems.  A lengthy game with just one cut can be very motivating to keep playing.  At some point it makes feel like an expert predictor who missed a single tip, forgetting how the entire system run on luck. First of all, it is very bold of you to admit openly here you are addicted to gambling and how much you have deposited to casinos and how much you have withdrawn from them.
Hopefully you can get your life back together and not to deposit as much into casinos to the extent which could affect your personal life and finances...
Sometimes I have come to believe it is not only about being greedy on casinos or sport bookies, you know, there are several aspects of life in which greed could actually accelerate de loss of money and wealth, in business and in the corporate world there are countless of examples about it.

If you have experienced loss of money while gambling and you have calculated your loses it is because from the beginning you had some expectation on beating the house and pocketing some money in the process, which is the wrong mentality to have... you are supposed to forget about your losses and simply to move on from them and continue to gamble (if it is a source of join and entertainment for you) otherwise, it is wiser just to quit and find other hobbies or activities to spend your money in.

You're still lucky that you only lost 3K and not more than that. Since you told that you were addicted to gambling, you could have lost a lot more but thanks god you understand your mistake. If you gamble with a plan, you will recover from this loss but still, you have to control your emotions and it only comes with experience. I don't think there is any gambler who did not make mistakes but the ones who understand early save themselves from big losses.

It's a dangerous pattern that most gamblers follow, judging from the OP's story. If he's telling the truth, he was a victim of his own overconfidence. That's what led to losing big, and such types of losing can happen to anyone, not just sports bettors.

Assuming that the story is real, losing $100,000 is certainly hard as it could be a life savings or a retirement plan. It's better off be invested in Bitcoin and that would probably grow double or even more for the years to come.

But that's a gambler's life, we lose and keep on losing if we lose grip to ourselves and the money that are already in the safe.

Also, OP really likes to play with fire. Betting almost 1000$ on 134x odds, what do you expect? High rollers can do such bets because it doesn't hurt them, but somebody that's broke? Not a good idea.

Getting as far es having to win only the last game is a miracle on it's own, losing that last one is a tough blow to say the least. You took your shot and you lost, that's how life goes sometimes. Sorry about your loss and the ugly experience of being addicted. Indeed, I can relate to all you have posted because I have had experience not exactly the same as yours but something close. I was lucky not to have gone too far into being addicted because I was still able to control my gambling and the amount I put into gambling and how often I gamble too. Another good thing was that I never resorted to borrowing to gamble or putting all my money into gambling. What you need to do now is to take a break and think of other ways of raising funds because in your present mood, you cannot get any lasting solution from gambling.

Lol. However, nobody knows what the outcome of their game will be. It might happen to also be a jackpot. Most gamblers understand and can relate to it regarding btc investment but they want fast result and that is what gambling provide. So you can be lucky to win big while gambling.

I also wish that she'll learn big from that losses. Whoever won't lose with that amount of losses is crazy, with $1k to $10k losses, that should have hit her big already and learned her lessons but not. She keeps on going on with huge leverage with big bets. I'm a gambler but I am not this as intense as her.
