Perhaps the title of this topic looks a little provocative, but this is exactly what I wanted to say: "Your goal is not to be better than 90% of other players. Your goal is to make a profit in the long term or just enjoy gambling."

of course that is true, you know most gamblers often claim they are better than the rest of the gamblers simply because they win more often than others but that doesn't mean they are smatter than others. that is not a good habit i must say. in the game of gambling, no man is an island of knowledge. our goal in gambling is gambling for fun, and if opportunity of winning jackpot comes, then it is to our own advantage but not a thing of being smatter than others.

In fact, there are many gamblers who boast about their gambling success, but they never think that winning at gambling is only a matter of luck, and luck is not always with everyone. In fact, they start thinking about gambling with excessive importance, and they think that they are the smartest, where luck plays the biggest role.
In fact, this kind of thinking gradually leads a gambler to excessive gambling addiction, and gradually leads to destruction. Therefore, the real purpose of gambling should be to have fun, the jackpot in gambling is never your own skill, the jackpot will only come because of good luck.

I quit agree with you that this kind of schenerio can lead a person to get addicted because of the intimedation gotten from a friend that regularly win. But for me, I don't see any need why I will get addicted to gambling simply because my friend make jest of me or see me as a gambler who is not smart enough to win pretty well. I know many people will fall to such category of getting addicted because they want to prove a point to their intimidators , but I don't think that is necessary for a wise Pearson to do that.

We could set many things as goal and see to them if we can achieve them, if not all but close to them all, we may not be better than others as you have said, but we could do in our way way to be more better than others from our own approach, some of us will keep looking on what others are doing and wont focus on how we can also develop ourself to do more better than them, we should only learn from others and create time to develop something new for our own personal self to make us more better.

I don't see anything wrong if someone want to be better than others in gambling because that's what happen in real life, it's all about competition. But, make sure to check financial capability before doing that, it's almost impossible for a gambler with $100 bankroll to beat a gambler who won $2 Million by gamble $10K per bet.

It's unrealistic to turn $100 to $2 Million, but you can always try to chase the multipliers since how small or big the amount you gamble, in multipliers it's all same.

I agree with you because the game of gambling is as competition of disagreements which means you would always have to prove your possessions of being outstanding even though it is such a friendly or fun contests.

But while we take this personal in a short run while the games lasts, we should always be concious so that we don't turn out to regret at last if it affects our bankrolls and paves us the awkwardness of bankruptcy.
Hence it is a game of wagering our money, it is necessary to understand that the competition is who wins and not who is richer.

I don’t mind if others are better than me as  what matters to me is being profitable in the long run. That’s the main goal, and if I would achieve it, it’s like proving Im better than the majority. I’m not sure what percentage the majority is, but if it’s 90%, so be it.

We can say we’re better than them because we make a profit while they lose money. In the end, sportsbooks will still survive and stay profitable, but a few smart cappers can enjoy being on the winning side.

Don't think about others, if comparing yourself to others is useless in succeeding in gambling... they won't know how big losses feel and neither will you to them, just be yourself.

The important thing is that we ourselves know about responsibility, about long-term profits in bets that are mastered then that's good... I also do it in Sportsbook.

Well, I personally can be said to be a gambler who falls into both categories, meaning sometimes I gamble to seek profit and sometimes I also gamble with the aim of seeking pleasure, and usually especially for me it depends on the situation, because there are times when I need some money to buy something like the goods I need, but that doesn't mean from the start I really gamble with the full intention of making money, simply I am still ready for the risk.

IMO, on the other hand, honestly I think the results in gambling can never be compared because in any activity that runs based on probability it can never be measured whether the victory you produce is much greater than others or not, and there will always be other people who manage to achieve a greater number of victories, the point is it all depends on luck.

My goal is to be better than others not in terms winning or losing but in my mindset with regards to gambling.
My goal is to ensure that their gambling addictions don't become mine.
My goal is to not be influenced by the punters and their tricks on social media.

OP you are right but still it depends on the type of gambling we are talking about. If it's sport gambling I would say yes because you don't have to worry who gets more win than you or who can predict that you but the main goal is for you to also win, I have even seen people rubbing heads together to get a winning game.
But if it's a gambling game that requires you to square off against another player or players then your goal is to be better than your opponent in other for you to win.

How can you compare to others when you don't see what they are playing or betting? Maybe in poker games, yeah, but it requires more than luck when you play it. And so our obvious goal is to win in the end no matter what. Maybe we could:

I often repeat that I pay special attention to those truths that work equally well in both trading and gambling. So this truth works equally well in both trading and gambling. Decide what you need gambling for: for profit, for pleasure, or you play it because of research interest. And if you play for profit, then always remember that often the desire to simply be better than others is a very tricky parameter. You can deceive yourself.

You are right to mention that it both applies to trading and gambling.

With trading and gambling, you have set your own preferences and expectations. We have all different set ups and different methods of doing for either so to compare ourselves to other people is fruitless and pointless to be frank. Since we have so different styles, you don’t know what this person is doing or what that person is doing. How much they are spending and etc.

It’s important to just make sure you make profit.

How can we be sure of profit when the results of gambling and trading are highly dependent on chance or luck? In my opinion, we can only minimize the risks and on this basis calculate the probability of profit. But the lower the risks, the lower the profit. I would not consider gambling as a way to make money at all. It is better to treat gambling as entertainment and then you will not have unreasonable expectations.

Trying to make gambling a competitive thing is absolutely a wrong way to think, no one is better off than anyone, it's just a matter of getting lucky. The goal is to either have fun or find a way to make profit from it instead of trying to be better than other people at it. Remember that everytime you win is based on chance and luck, everything you have won can be taken away from you if you are not being careful. You can try to improve the knowledge you have about gambling not because you are in competition with anyone but because you are trying to make profit for yourself.
