Once, Russian President Putin dreamed of leaving Europe without gas. In his words, Europe would freeze without Russian gas, and he did everything possible to make this threat a reality. Since January 1, 2025, his dream has come true, gas from Russia has been shut off. But here's the problem: along with the loss of the ability to blackmail Europe, Putin has lost the Western currency that was so necessary for the war in Ukraine. Putin's plan to blackmail the West has turned into an economic problem for Russia. The USSR, known as the Evil Empire, became history for economic reasons, and the same awaits Putin's Empire, known as the Empire of Lies. (1) It is no coincidence that the portrait of a liar-killer with completely soulless eyes was depicted in the magazine "The Economist".

 Yes, Putin understands very well that Russia's share in global hydrocarbon purchases is decreasing, which threatens Russia with a collapse of the economy, in which the main role is played by the sale of raw materials, primarily oil and gas. If the project to deliver gas from Qatar through Syria and Turkey to Europe is realized, then Russia will forever lose hope for the European market, which is fatal for the Russian economy. If under Assad Russia could hinder this project, then with the fall of his regime Russia has no such opportunity. Today Putin is desperately looking for ways to start negotiations with Trump in order to conclude at least some kind of peace with Ukraine. But here the West has firmly established for itself the principle of no negotiations without Ukraine.

It is obvious Russia underestimated the capacity of Europe to keep themselves warm and with energy during several winters, it it was tough in the beginning to them, obviously but they have learned to live without having to depend on Russian energy any longer. Putin despites free Europe, so much so he wanted to rule it indirectly through the power of gas.
My personal prediction is this all situation with Russian energy and the war in Ukraine will only accelerate the transition of Europe towards green energy, in the meantime, while the are at it, they will continue to supply themselves with other providers of oil and gas, like the United States and some State members of MERCOSUR.

What is the Black Sea Corridor that Russian took from Ukraine going to be good for? Pipelines, and other stuff... that currently runs through Ukraine.
