This has been the ways of the scammers to scam people before its going to your home asking anything then offering medicine, drinks, investment, etc, although i would say its still working, because some people are still doing the pyramid scam with a soap, meds , vitamins, and  a lot more.
but now they are also in social media, telegram, whatsapp, viber, what stupid is they are just changing their, name, which made me think that they become stupid by changing their name, but not the mobile or account, what made me laugh is they never change a profile picture, sometimes i entertain them when im bored asking them a lot of things, when it comes down to money, i slowly stop chatting, and they will bomb you with messages, maybe some fall for this but lots of people already learn, keep safe guys its holidays they will be all over the place.

It seems like someone just resurrected this scam technique I thought have died a natural death. @DYING_S0UL faced similar experience with this telegram scammer recently and I am glad he was smart too not to get convinced to proceed with the transaction. I am glad this issue is brought here so everyone will know about it  and know how to respond to these scammers when they finally meet them.

FYI, this is not the first time I have faced this particular scam. There were literally countless time, every months someone from this fake fragment sent me these offers! Sometimes offering $5000, sometimes $10,000, even $15,000, I once got. This method was like on the back of my hand! I could tell what their next message would be! Lmao!

I could have just blocked them right away! But then I though, life, why not waste their precious time! Let there be one less victim they can scam.. Grin
Grin funny you. There was a time these method of scam was so rampant that almost everyone was talking about it. I also got same offer from a suspected scammer. After a while, I stopped reading about scams related to username sales and the fragment platform. I thought the scammers were no longer getting victims and now boom! They are back again with  the old tactics and in full force. I am always relieved in my heart when people call out these scammers to protect others from falling victim too.

I'm glad scammers are becoming very stupid enough to make their scams very obvious to tell unlike how it was few years back. Scammers and becoming really dumb and I'm happy for them lol Grin I've had series of scam attacks but non seems to succeed because I've understood how they operate and most importantly understand that there is no free money in the world especially when the offer seems too good to be true. I wouldn't recommend anyone to sell or make trades with anyone who they have not physically met, the only exception is if the person has a known reputable guarantor.
Right from time, they have been stupid and it's easy to detect if the victims were not stupid too. Most of the scam methods lacks sophistication and complexity, just that the victims were too desperate not to let their brain think a little about the offer the scammers is preaching to them. If some scammed victims had let their brain think, they would unravel any trick the scammers is using on them. One of the repeatedly used scam method is "haste", the scammers likes to put the victims in a state of haste so that the victim doesn't have time to think well before acting.

Telegram is one of the platform that has different types of tactics used by scammers to lure their victims.I haven't received such message as yours but I've received different tactics from unknown personalities on telegram, few months back different individuals sent same deceptive message to me on telegram with the intention that I might think it's real since the message has appeared twice and from different individuals, but that literally made it more obvious that it was a way to steal my credentials and hack my account.I even created a topic then to promote awareness amongst the users of Bitcointalk most especially the newbies, they benefitted from it because they're more vulnerable than the experienced ones. Here is the topic- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5548712.msg65547638#msg65547638

I have used Fragment in the past, and even though it requires you to connect to the Telegram wallet or any other TON-based wallet like TonKeeper, it doesn't require you to have a specific amount of TONs in your account for receiving a payment like the scammer was telling you. You need funds in your account if you are buying something from Fragment, and it's also false that you will receive funds through Fragment because even though you can buy usernames from Fragment, that doesn't mean that you will receive payment from Fragment after connecting your account and accepting a certain request.

I know what he was trying to do. He would basically make you connect your account with the website, and then make you purchase something from there, possibly a username, that he has listed there, I don't know how the listing system works on Fragment, but he was probably trying to do something like that.

That whats seemed strange to me. And the next thing was "you are about to give an access xyz.com to your TONkeeper wallet" Not Fragment but "xyz.com"

They at first target everyone possible that they can reach out to on the social media platforms then narrow their efforts down to their baits, people who must have shown interest in their proposition then they patiently wait for you to fall a victim and that's all, you never get to hear from them afterwards.

This is an old scam that is coming back again on telegram where a stranger will message you telling you he or she loves your username and will pay you certain amount of money (usually huge) to buy it then they act very serious about it by showing you evidence through fake proof of money and other stuffs just to make you believe. Then they also tell you to go to fragment.con buy your username with toncoin firstly then thy will send you the big money that actually never comes.

For quite some time now, I have known Telegram to be a scammers eden and I'm always careful dealing with unknown person there. Some few days back, I received a message from unknown person offering to buy my Telegram Username for 700 TON which is equivalent to $3,990. If you are greedy type you'll easily fall for their trick.

This type of fraud is common and can be devastating for those unable to verify its veracity.
I'm also frequently contacted on Telegram for specific reasons, usually inviting me to collaborate to make money in an unnatural way. I usually ignore their chats.
The question is, why would they buy your Telegram username unless you have a good reputation, such as having a blue tick on your profile, so your Telegram account can be used for various purposes? The goal is likely more to gain credibility or authenticity, which can support the development of their ongoing business.

Otherwise, they might try to trick you in some way, so that when you fall into their trap they will eventually ask for something, whether it is a money transfer or something else.

I may be wrong, transferring a username doesn't automatically transfer premium status. The UID is the premium reference, as one UID can control around 30 usernames to own groups, channels, and bots.

As far as I understand, NO! You have only auctioned your "Username", not your premium status! That's not related to your username, but your account or ID or registered number or email.

As for why would anyone sell that isn't it obvious? You don't necessarily have to have any decent reputation. Imagine you have a business named Urban Clothes, and now you are required to create your official social handle, lets say urbanclothes_offical, but someone already took that name! That's when you can go to fragment, look for that username whether it's available for purchase and bid on that. That's the explanation I understand.

But scammers found the loophole here! They are directly sending unsolicited PMs and since the buying and selling is actually a real thing, many people starts believing these scammers! They can't distinguish between the official way and the scammers way!

Thesw scammers look out for two kinds of people; the greedy ones and the naive ones (newbies). Iis actually safer not to interact with these guys at all. Some victims of these scam fell victim because they thought they had everything under control. Along the line, they decided to give it a trial. After  life is a risk. Let's all stop giving these scammers the attention they so crave for because one small mistake can lead to a disaster.

I have used Fragment in the past, and even though it requires you to connect to the Telegram wallet or any other TON-based wallet like TonKeeper, it doesn't require you to have a specific amount of TONs in your account for receiving a payment like the scammer was telling you.
That whats seemed strange to me. And the next thing was "you are about to give an access xyz.com to your TONkeeper wallet" Not Fragment but "xyz.com"

The scammer just wants to make sure that they don't scam and connect into an empty wallet, so they try as much as they can to convince the victim to fund their own wallet with a specific amount and above, so that if they eventually gain access to it, they will have something to steal from their victims which that act alone if every other thing is overlooked should be taken seriously.

The question is, why would they buy your Telegram username unless you have a good reputation, such as having a blue tick on your profile, so your Telegram account can be used for various purposes?
I may be wrong, transferring a username doesn't automatically transfer premium status. The UID is the premium reference, as one UID can control around 30 usernames to own groups, channels, and bots.
The premium subscription is associated with the mobile number not the username so the only way to transfer the ownership of premium is to transfer the mobile number too.

And blue tick on telegram? That seems new to be, I saw that on WhatsApp but not on telegram even if it is official channels or bots, they use the emojis that comes along with premium feature which often look like blue ticks.

I know what he was trying to do. He would basically make you connect your account with the website, and then make you purchase something from there, possibly a username, that he has listed there, I don't know how the listing system works on Fragment, but he was probably trying to do something like that.
If the wallet is connect to the phishing link there might be no need to purchase anything again from there because automatically the balance will be wiped off since they now have access to the wallet connected to their end. I am just making assumptions not concluding anyways but I just feel the link would have given the scammer edge to withdraw without stress if the link was clicked at any point.

TLDR. If you are sure what to do then you should just abandon the thought of clicking the link or do what the other party wants you to do just to be on the safe side. I am not experts in that premium status or username auction thing but one thing I can say is if you are not sure about it then you should just avoid it especially if there's funds involve in it. As we all know, scammers will always find ways to scam someone.
