Suggestion on the Creation of Bitcointalk Entertainmnet Board (BTEB or BEB)

I have no idea how this would sound in the ears of members but it has been a thought running through my mind to share with this great platform for some time now. Although I am not a developer to do such but I have been fascinated by this idea to be shared here. If this is not the right board for this post, moderators can move it to the right board as appropriate.

Possibly looking at having an entertainment section or board on this forum aside from the gambling board where members can just go have fun by seeing a movie, listening to music maybe joining a live premiere, or watching a documentary with historical events and happenings. This could be made accessible for everyone on this platform and if anyone is interested, they could pay in Bitcoin to download or watch a live premiere since this is a Bitcoin talk platform and people would like their identity to be anonymous but would be comfortable to pay in bitcoin with just their forum username showing which payment gateway would be fully incorporated through one's profile dashboard.

I believe this could be another major source of revenue for this platform aside from other sources already existing on this platform if there are any as members would want to make use of it as it is that most of these websites require one to register with their identity which not everybody is comfortable with but if here, members would make use of that section and it would see an increasing number in traffic here which would include entertainment industries coming to identifying with the bitcoin talk community and other partnership would take place. Not only that, organizations that have been wanting to adopt Bitcoin could see this as an opportunity to start rendering services here through sales of their movies and purchase of tickets which would have your forum name to be able to access it without getting one's real identity as it has been the nature of this platform as I observed.  This Board would be located in the Other section where the meta board, beginners, and help are found.

If Theymos could look into this idea and suggestion with the team of Bitcoin Talk developers, I believe it would go a long way to adding more value and features to this great platform and the possibility of this board becoming the most busiest and visited board on this platform as time goes on. The thread is open for further discussion and contribution to this idea by members who found it worthy to be established on this platform.

I understand from the aspect of the adage which says, all work without play makes Jack dull, but this may not necessary be applicable on every situations, we have to be careful in other not to deviate from the main purpose of the creation of this forum itself, which is bitcoin discussions, talking about entertainment, we have series of activities like the contests which is more common and members of the forum participate, we also have the like of community award which members are permitted to apply or cast their votes and so many other activities as applicable on different sections of the forum like the reputation, meta, local board as well as speculation and so on, there are other entertaining boards like the gambling section, auctions, service discussion and so on, which i also think were quite enough to serve the same purpose of an entertainment, considering that many people have been coming with their various suggestions to the forum and not all will have to be considered except the admin sees a need for that as well as other members take on same.

Why it sounds like you suggest to create a new project instead of a new board?

You want people to watch movie in Bitcointalk like Netflix? you want people listening to music in Bitcointalk like Spotify?

Remember this forum not allow people to attach videos and sounds, you can only post the thumbnail and hyperlink to other website to watch the videos.

However, the administrator doesn't interested anymore in making money, hence he removed the ads banner.

You never know what might be going through theymos' head but I highly doubt that anything remotely like what the OP proposed will end up being implemented on the forum.

I very much agree with what Solosanz says, to begin with the proposal seems to be ignorant of how the forum works now and what would have to be implemented and rather than a new board it seems that the OP is proposing another forum. If you like to watch videos and series this is not your forum, I watch them but it is not the most appropriate forum to talk about it, let alone watch them here.

Bitcointalk forum is powered by simple machine forum and it's limited to such thing. You can look at it's features with the link I provided.

Creating a child board isn't too complex as Theymos (admin) can setup that at his will but entertainment in Bitcointalk is not what we are here for, if you want such entertainment you can use every other platform dedicated to it.

Bro, you need to understand that different things serve different purposes. You can't expect water to do the work of fire. Similarly, you can't expect a discussion forum to have an entertainment hub and even monetization of that sort. This forum is a place where things are discussed, ideas are shared, and knowledge is exchanged; it's not a place where users can post or watch videos or movies or get monetization opportunities through it. We have monetization metrics that suit this forum, such as signature campaigns.

What you are suggesting will turn this forum into a social media or streaming platform and we already have them. Making such changes even if it's possible will make this forum lose its essence and originality which is what most of us like about this forum.

So, no harsh feelings, but I'm not in favor of that idea at all. I love this forum as it is. Features added for improving the forum functionilities and providing more convenience is a different thing, but turning it into something else is unacceptable.

If you go to the bounty sections you would see project that has those feature you want theymos to implement, lot of projects are launching at the bounty section with similar suggestion you are giving. To me this forum is above such you are suggesting and we know we don't need noise in Bitcointalk rather than noise of bitcoin price movement and the rest are solely needed.

On a natural stands we can't combine music or entertainment to Bitcoin as we know bitcoin alone is a big entertainment altogether. We have sites that features those things and if you really want to get those sites through here you can possibly create topics where people would have to drop link for you as reference to follow and watch whatever movies or music you want.

This forum is a place for serious discussions that relate to either the bitcoin ecosystem or the forum itself. The boards you find here are basically just to sort out and group threads and posts. With that being said I don't think there is a need for an entertainment board here on the forum since it's not really necessary based on the reason for the forum.

Nevertheless there are still some fun threads on the forum and in my opinion anything that doesn't fit in any of the board s including the altcoins board will definitely fit in the off topic board. Trust me if the thread is ok and sits right with members they'll seldom visit it.

This platform is more of a formal forum, there are forums outside what we have here that can serve the purpose of entertainment. If you want to watch great movies download Netflix, if you want to listen to sounds try Spotify and if you want to set a community to go live try various social media with such features.

It is not a crime for entertainment, several users are having the best fun you can begin at your local board, i believe you can start with threads and not boards, if the development is fun enough even users outside your local board can participate.

On the contrary, your suggestions do not add any value to the forum. From your proposal, it is obvious that you’re not on other forums or do not know how forums work. This is a bitcoin forum, majority of the users on BTT are here to talk about bitcoin, everything else is secondary and some would even consider it a distraction. I doubt your proposal would get any support from the community. I suggest you get your entertainment somewhere else.

On how this is being explained is such cool and like entertaining just as being proposed but I don't see it helpful to the forum because this bitcointalk forum isn't a playhouse like the social media platforms where we cruises about our daily lives as pleases.
So if this is being implemented, then there'd be no essence for the off the topic where dramatic and pointless posts are being channeled upon. And quiet unfortunate to note how the off topic boardeis being underated which likely to be any entertainment threads on the forum being found there is assumed to be trashed because it's rated as low quality posts.

Just visit a cinema or own one if you’re interested in making money from paid movies, the both idea op is trying to create is having fun and making money. The forum is not a place where you create fun activity and for the fact it’s bitcoin related forum not an entertainment forum where ideas about movie recommendation are shared, for example if such happens the mods will move your topic where it belongs (off topic board) the forum is strictly for bitcoin discussion although the gambling section is another active board due to gambling campaign and it has been for long.
