I downloaded the Whatsminer Tool .RAR file from the official Whatsminer.com site.  The browser tried to prevent the download and then my anti-virus identified a trojan called Trj/Chgt.AD.  I uploaded the file to Virustotal and 23 of 63 vendors flagged it as malicious.

Am I being paranoid about installing this software?  Is MicroBT trying to install a backdoor to my system?

As long as it was downloaded from their official site here you should be safe because by default most if not all crypto software is flagged by AV software. Just allow it on a case by case basis based on Crypto Community trust of the company. That Whatsminer site is 100% legit.

it is a backdoor to the miner. but all their miners are that way.
