So finally, we will have a unification fight at the welterweight division for this year. Since Crawford and Spence has left this division, it has somewhat lost his luster as the champion is not a household name.

Although Ennis seems to be the one carrying the torch, he need a big fight to showcase if he has want it takes to bring this division again in front of the headline or at least boxing fans interested again at 147 lbs as this is the center weight class which produces great fights before.

Ennis held the IBF belt while Stanionis was elevated to full champion by the WBA.

I go the opposite mate and voted for Ennis to win by decision. Yes this is going to be a great fight as both are undefeated by Ennis has more fights and I think he also has the better KO percentage. I check one sports bookies and there are no odds yet for this fight as it  could have been released and very fresh as posted by @Baofeng.

Yeah, nothing against Stanionis, he could be what we call a live underdog and maybe pull a upset.

But I'm basing on the record of Ennis and it seems that he has a better resume and have more fight under his belt and this could help him as the experience might show in the championship round as I'm seeing this going into distance.

But from a gambler’s perspective, rooting for the underdog adds excitement. Hoping for an upset makes the whole thing more fun. It’s not my first time betting on a heavy underdog, especially one who’s also a champion. Honestly, I feel like Ennis might be a bit overvalued here, which makes taking a chance on Stanionis even more tempting.

This is an unpredictable match, as you can see on the standings between these two fighters. Ennis has a higher standing compared to Stanionis, like heights, wins and reach, and you can see Ennis got more knockouts than Stanionis.

Isn't it obvious from the standings who is going to win? The probability goes more to Ennis due to his current standings so I think this going to be "Ennis by Decision".

My analysis is not finished yet, so I ended up watching their highlight fights. Stanionis is more defensive, whereas Ennis is offensive.
So this might end up KO by Ennis.
The only problem with Ennis was that he didn't follow more of the number 1 rule, which is to protect yourself at all times, so if Ennis got hit by Stanionis badly, this may turn to Stanionis winning. Let's see.

Plan for Spence is to up at 154 lbs and fight Sebastian Fundora. However, he back out in the last minute citing health issues. Remember that he was involved in a horrific car accident and he has problem in his eyes, a detach retina. And he has been going on a lot of mental stress as well as there are reports that him and his long time trainer coach has separated and they are in a bitter legal battle.
As for the fight, it's just about time that the two champions in his division face each other. And as just what majority said, this division has somewhat lost the interest of fans because the two champions left. But now it's the new breed of champion like Ennis who has a lot of hype on his name and then a very hard nose fighter like Stanionis. In any case, I will go with Ennis to win, and this will showcase his power and hand speed and could win by knockout.

It's not his fault to be inactive, as far as I can remember, he had a scheduled fight with Vergil Ortiz, but Ortiz pulled many times in their fight because he got injured or is very sick. And so with that he move to fight Gabriel Maestre and won by a lopsided decision last year. And if this fight happens, it will a year of inactively for him. But I think it will be a non-issue on him.

And I will say that this are the two best fighters at this division, although I will say that Stanionis in very underrated champion. So let's see how this fight is going to go, I have Stanionis though, but a very close decision win and hopefully the judges are not going to screw this up.

Inactive how? He had a fight last year, so I wouldn’t say that makes him inactive. Everyone’s probably expecting Ennis to win easily, but this is a unification bout, meaning the other guy is a champion too and deserves respect.

Speaking of Thurman he will have a fight this year here. But Thurman has somewhat disappear and there are a lot of what if fight, against Spence or Crawford. So I do agree that it's really a shame because they've been in the same era but haven't had the chance to meet up in the ring.

So this is the new set of the 147 pounder, Ennis for me though has the upperhand in this fight. Stanionis is a good boxer, but it seems that his belt has been gifted to him. So I wouldn't be surprised that Ennis will have two belts after this fight. I do not think that Spence will continue to go back to 147 lbs, I think he has outgrown this division and if he ever decided to come back it will be at 154 lbs.

But looking at the polls right now, it seems that majority see Stanionis as a good bet here. Perhaps his knockout percentage or his mental toughness. Ennis though has been calling Crawford for the last couple of years, but Crawford duck him, not because he was afraid, but there is no financial incentives as it's obvious by now that Bud is looking for big money fights as he is getting older.

Anyhow, let's not overlook Stanionis here, as this could be the biggest test for Ennis, as he said, that he is waiting for this fight and he is built for moment like this. So let's see, hopefully he will live to that hype, otherwise this weight class might not get all the attention that it should get when fighters like Crawford and Spence was once dominating the 147 lbs division.

It will always excite the boxing community whenever two undefeated champions collide on who should reign in the division; its a faily even fight, and this is going to be a close fight.
I voted for Ennis to win the bout because he is a dominant fighter, but he will be tested here as Stationis never backs down and always moves forward.
The big factor here is the power, and Ennis has an edge on this, as we can all see in his knockout ratio 87.88% to Ennis's 60%.
I don't believe this fight will end in a decision, as both fighters love to slug it out and go toe to toe, One's knee has to come down when this happens.

What I enjoy about exhibition fights, especially when one fighter is clearly more popular, is how the underdog often comes in more motivated to prove themselves as a real champion.

I’m hoping Stanionis can deliver a solid performance, even though the bookies have made him a heavy underdog. It would be great to see him rise to the occasion and give us an exciting, competitive fight. Sometimes, it’s the underdog’s determination that makes these matchups memorable.

The Crawford vs. Spence fight was a bit different as they built the hype for so long before it finally happened. Back then, it was considered a 50-50 fight, even though Spence ended up losing. This one, though, is a lot more one-sided. It’s pretty clear that most people are rooting for Ennis to win since he’s the heavy favorite. If Stanionis, despite being a champion too, manages to pull off a win, it would definitely be considered a major upset.
