Acceptable uses of AI in the forum (unofficial)

English ain't my native tongue, and often my brain runs faster and makes up sentences but it doesn't really understand the sentences (even I find that funny), so I ask the ai to explain my sentences, so recipient can understand what I am saying. Does that make sense?

Is that acceptable use of ai?

I don't know if you have translated that with an AI but I don't understand you. If you translate with AI be careful because the text can look like AI generated at least partially when it has only been translated. Then, hypothetically you could find people tagging you as IA spammer.

If you want to sum it up in one sentence, acceptable AI use is anything that does not involve passing off as your own something that has been generated by the AI.

It depends on what you do once the AI you are using explains your sentences to you. Understanding what he explains and then using your own words to write it in the forum shouldn't get you in trouble, but copying and pasting the whole thing can be problematic.
By the way, what do you mean by saying that your brain works fast, you get a lot of ideas, but then you can't write them? Do you mean that you think of the points in your native language and then find it difficult to write them in English? Learning English is not that difficult, you should start learning the basics from YouTube, and within a couple of months, you will be good.

No, I didn't check that comment with AI, and I am not translating using AI, it's using AI to explain already English sentences, intention is to make sure what I am writing is understandable by reader.

You're playing with fire. Too much reliance on AI can be harmful. One day, this AI will get you something you don't want or can't take.

The idea of using AI too much is more like a plagiarism issue because in the  end no matter how much you try to put it you are still copying a text or idea that isn't yours.

This Ai thing will end critical thinking some day just like text messaging ended quality letter writing. I'm now beginning to understand that I ain't the only one who see this Ai thing in text as not too good. It's for this same reason I classify those who use Ai as plagiarist. Just make a prompt and Ai gives you a load of information, then copy and paste with quotation marks (for those who are decent to notify others that the texts aren't theirs), others will just pass them off as theirs. If critical thinking ends then AI will obviously take over from humans replacing them at their various places of work. We are in the experimental phase of the AI generated prompts so we can't categorically say what it's effects will be until it is proven over time. My only problem with AI contents is that users most times try to take credit for what they didn't put in effort to do.

As for laziness I believe it's those who chooses to be lazy that will end up becoming lazy courtesy of AI prompts but for people who sees AI as reference tools they will do beyond what their imagination can phantom.

Yes, of course, and the printing press put an end to the “quality” medieval copyists, in the same way that the computer and word processors put an end to the “quality” typewriters.

The other way around. You don't use AI much either, do you? What I use it for the most is to learn. That's like saying that the harvesting machine encourages laziness because people no longer harvest by hand. What these innovations do is increase productivity. And in this case exponentially. And it is precisely the increase in productivity that has led humanity to an increase in population and quality of life standards that were unimaginable two centuries ago, when Malthus prophesied the opposite.

It is the same as with the Internet. It has made it much easier to communicate, acquire and transmit information. Not to mention many other things, such as bitcoin or AI itself. But there are lazy people who only use the internet to look for likes on Instagram or TikTok. Or that they use it to plagiarize, instead of doing honest research citing sources.

AI is a tool with a lot of potential. How it is used, honestly and properly or not, depends on the person.

Exactly, just like they say too much of everything is bad . I don’t bother or even think of using AI yes am a human and am not perfect am going to make mistakes one way or the other and the good thing is that there are going to be other users ready to but me through , so I don’t see the reason I would have to rely on Ai now and days folk are now getting lazier due to always relying on AI that some can’t even have a normal conversation with their fellow folk without involving AI .
