Tbh is not easy to stop especially when you are addicted to it , one of the best time to stop is when you haven’t gotten deep in to it , but sometimes in some situations is best you stop for good or have some break bed gambling can actually mess with you when it’s not being approached wisely , it will be killing yah slowly without noticing it because all you care about is to win more not what the crave is doing to you ( of wanting more or trying to cover losses ) .

I mean if you have a circle of friends who're heavily into gambling, there are some people that are being forced to gamble also because their friends are gambling as well. It sounds like you're making it seem harder than it is as an excuse for your weak behavior.  Just man up and quit gambling when you think it's the right thing to do.  You don't need to blame some made up addiction or pretend it is difficult in order to make yourself feel better.  It isn't hard.  It's actually harder to gamble than it is to not gamble.  There's a reason you're doing it.  Either a belief you're going to be the one guy out of thousands to win big, or maybe you just don't understand the odds of what you're attempting.  Quit if you want to quit though.  Don't search for excuses.
