Yeah, you may be right but I think it depends on the kind of scammer you're dealing with. Though this has been the easiest way to detect a scammer, but since majority of people has discovered that method. They have now come up with different strategy, if it how you detect a scammer nowadays I think it will be very difficult for you to find one. Except those who are still new in that scamming system, but those who are very deep in this scamming business. Definitely, it will be very difficult for you to figure out if you're dealing with a scammer or not.

 Because they will be following you up in such a way that even if you're being told that the person you're dealing with happens to be a scammer, definitely you will still find it very hard to believe. So I think the only way out of this, is for us not to be greed. Because is obvious that greed is the  only reason why most people easily fall victim to scammers.

Treat any TG message you get as a SCAM. Period. Stick by this rule and you'll avoid 99.9999% scams.

Exactly, I'm always cautious with any message I receive especially from strangers on telegram. I've recorded many stories of people being scammed on TG so just to be safe than sorry, I treat every message from strangers as scam, indeed people are not good, everyone is trying to rip you off your hard earned assets. These notorious scammed are coming up with smarter ways to scam people and the fake offers they present are always good and it takes gullible people off guard.

This makes sense, as for me, in telegram there's no other way that will contact me first there that I don't know, and I consider most of the messages there are scam or spam. Not unless I know a person personally, and I gave my username or connected phone number, or I messaged that person first.

Consider also the channels you are joining because some scammers are using some of the channels you joined or interacted with to find their next target.

Thanks for writing a well-detailed thread. I believe most of the people are seeing this for the first time. I have never seen such a scam attempt, and it never happened to me so far. But who knows? Probably one day, I could get a similar offer in my private message. Probably I would try to figure out what is happening, but since I already know what is going to happen, I will be cautious now.

If you think logically, why would someone send an offer to you to buy your username? They could create another account and set a similar username or a unique username. Even if you successfully sale it, you should know that they will start using it to reach your friends and scam them.

Scammers are everywhere, but the question is that how can we avoid Scammers, in telegram, its obvious that most of the groups in telegram are scam groups, but I believe that you can only be scam when you are interested on something else, because if you don't have interest on something you can't be easily be scammed

Keep wondering how can be deceived from unknown message that comes to my Dm, why I don't have business with the person, and the person is busy sending messages to me, I will block the user immediately, if we want to get rid of scam, we don't need to respond to unknown messages

So everyone should use a main wallet which he will never connect or use anywhere. Even as the scam rate is higher there are projects that still uses them and it's the easier and fastest way of communication which people do connects each others with, for total elimination of telegram wouldn't be a good option rather while using it you need to be extremely careful and watchful, most times the real people wouldn't send you messages first and for that when having any business with anyone from this forum you must first confirm from forum pm before having to reply that person otherwise if not that then you should know that it is scam.

As we know, scam is no longer a new thing in the space and on internet generally including all social app. So we need to be very mindful while communicating with anyone on any platform, be it here or telegram, facebook, twitter (x) or Instagram.

A similar thing happened to me last month were scammers pmed me that they were contacting me on behalf of their client who requested to purchase my telegram name and was offering me a mouth-watering price just to get at me but I told them I could only sell me account for 10 BTC and they ran away. Currently, I came across a post on one of the WhatsApp channels I belong to that they have been able to program it in a way that once you just click on that link they sent to you attached with the price offer or request, automatically, your account is gone so anyone who receives such should do a proper verification as no body genuine person would pm you to purchase your user ID, if they want to purchase your user ID tell them to go to https://fragment.com/ to place their offer then anything that comes up from there you know its legit but if they pm you, just know they are scammers.

You're a bigger scammer buddy, 10BTC isn't a joke , you suffer scared them to death without a second chance to survive and re-strategize. Talking about scams, there's a serious scam going on LinkedIn now where a company has set out to lease unsuspecting users accounts and use it for advertising their scan services while dropping links that directs you to their main site.

The account owners aren't bothered since they're paid $20 monthly and these guys are scamming people with the account owners identity. I explained to a friend who wanted to introduce me to it that when those that have been scammed are seeking revenge, it's the account owners that they know and he stupidly replied that for the first time LinkedIn is paying him and as long as they're paying him, he's not bothered selling his identity for peanuts. Very pitiable.

They will offer you a hefty amount of TON for your username which may youre not even expecting. They always offer you 100-1000TON. Once I got 1000 TON offered.

Let me tell you their tactics, even though you maybe aware enough it's scam but how they will approch to you at a certain point you may start believing in certain points. They won't ask you any fund starting , even they will negotiate with you like a real buyer. He even tell you to list it if you know how to buy sell username in fragment.

They will ask you ton wallet address which you used on Fragment. After you list it on Fragments they will tell you that I just bid/offered you please accept it. Actualy bidding works like this, if you opened your username for bidding anyone can bid it for their acceptable price.

Can you tell if this one is fake ss or fake offered he showed you? Basically they give you the link what you wants from Fragment. But wait dont jump over and fall for it. In Telegram you can sent any text and bind that text with a link, that's what they do . They send a fake link text which didn't even exist but in that text they created their phishing website link which is a copy of Fragment. It's exactly copy of fragments you can't tell it if you're not aware of the Site URL.

That's not it, which even more amazed me even I believed it for a second   . I blocked that contact cause I know it's a scam. What that scammer did next was un expected .

After blocked , a new message appeared on my telegram from Auction Alert it's same like if Telegram send you any official text . It had me fooled for a second . If I confirm the offer it's redirect me to my wallet. But what I know for sure is theres nothing goes for easy money. So I tripple checked and found that it's a fake account. I even helped a lot of people those who are even willing to pay them a little amount of fees.

So please be aware of these scams. Just remember in this world there's nothing like free money or easy money.

And lastly If you're getting these type of Texts a lot, what you can do then?

Just list your Username on Fragment, then scammer will less appear on your wall. I've listed my username after that I don't get any offers like that anyomre.

I believe you saw the thread LM created lately. As for OP, it was not an attempt to buy their username, but it was a scam attempt. The scammer would make him pay some fees in TON, convincing him that his username was too valuable and that he would get hundreds of TONs if he sold that.

If you're not a greedy person who just wants free money regardless of how they come then you'll want to ask questions as to why would anyone want to giveaway some huge money for something that they can just get for free especially like a telegram username which they can create for themselves on telegram. What's so special about your username than those of others telegram users that some random person would want to offer such amount of TON or cash for it.

Lastly, what happens to all my friends on telegram who by that username we connect and relate together. I could be endangering them to a scammer assuming whoever bought the account decides to use it to hunt my friends and business colleagues by disguising and pretending to me. Which they would not know or detect.

Let's forget all that. I do not want to sell anything. Especially any account related things. I guess my BitcoinTalk accounts worth some money today because I saw a lot of sold account got exposed and most of those accounts has zero earned merits, but those accounts ranked up with the airdropped merits. I am not going to sell even if someone offers me a couple of thousands dollars, not even if I decide to leave the forum in the future. I will ask the admin to ban it like he banned Lauda and Satoshi and I guess o_e_l_e_o too.

Just to add on what you have extensively discussed, as I reminder to everyone, please avoid communicating via telegram with anonymous persons who randomly invite or message you to join to their groups. Even if they may claim that they offer free services or cryptocurrencies at their expense, the rule to live by (like what OP mentioned) is that there is no free money in this world.

Lastly, I also want to share with you a recent experience my girlfriend encountered. When she was looking for investment guides on Facebook, she was invited to join this Telegram group where they offered investment services for $80. My girlfriend really wanted to accept but I reluctantly told her to avoid any kind of transaction on Telegram. After a few days, the moderators of that group consistently messaged and convinced her to join and accept their proposal. After a few days, all of those groups were deleted and the accounts of those persons were also deleted.
