....yesterday was his birthday, and many people gathered in different parts of the world to celebrate. But guess what? The mainstream media didn’t report it. That just shows how biased the media can be and it’s being used as a weapon to discredit the ex pres duterte.

Mainstream has been in conflict with Duterte ever since he closed the number one station in the country, ABS CBN.
He did this because he doesn't want any media to interfere with politics in the country, and ABS-CBN has been notorious for this.
I have to get my news from some vlogger who follows the Dutertes and some politicians close to the Dutertes to know what's happening, but they can never discredit Rudy Duterte because his legacy is fully established.
He has done a lot for the countries, not only for the drug wars.

Duterte should have been left alone for a reason. Not because he is a saint but because he didn't do like many other ruthless readers who would do anything to hold on to power for as long as they are alive. He had the opportunity because he ruled with an iron fist, but he didn't, and he didn't allow his family members to succeed him too, which is heroic on its own, no wonder people stood for him.
Actually, he was convincing Sarah Duterte, his daughter, to run for the presidency, but on those days, father and daughter were not on speaking terms; people close to them were convincing both the father and the daughter to run as vice president and president, respectively, but instead, the daughter decided to become Marcos's running mate because of Sarah's popularity; Marcos won the election.
None of this would have happened if Sarah agreed to run for president; it's an easy win for Sarah Duterte because his father is still very popular and people looked up to Sarah as someone that will follow his father's legacy.

<..snip..>
Just a little background: Duterte was widely known for his war on drugs campaign, which, according to his political opponents, led to extrajudicial killings. This is the case that the ICC has charged him with.

So, what are your thoughts on this?

He should definitely be put behind bars for his actions.

Some people argue that the ICC has no jurisdiction over the crimes that he committed. Well, the crimes charged were made when Philippines was still under the jurisdiction of the ICC. Additionally, the case of Pangilinan v. Cayetano already set the precedent which ruled that the ICC indeed has jurisdiction over him.

The fact is that the former president of the Philippineswas a good man that has left a legacy of fighting drugs in his country which he swear an oth when he was assuming power as the president of the country and he was able to carry out his campaign promises so this is an attempt to bring all the  good works that he has done to shame what we need to know is that all over the world there are people who are benefitting from the evil that's taking place and the case of drugs which has been an issue in the Philippines is one that has some internal backing some people are benefitting from the situation that is why he is been hunted, don't forget the killing of for Libya president gadafi the truth is that when ever a country start breaking out of the circle that the big boys of the world wants it to be problems will start

A good man? I do not think so. Sure, he has the motive to suppress and contain drug problems in the Philippines. But at what cost? Neglecting due process? Committing several violations of human rights? Lots of collateral and lots of nonsense killing empowered these policement to commit these crimes due to the directive of the Former President himself.

Following your point of argument, so you think that the end justifies the means? I do not think so.

There’s some rallies everywhere in the Philippines hosted by different group in different parts of the country due to the ICC’s arrest order for Duterte. We all know that when there’s chaos, it will have a negative impact on the economy. I posted this outside our local section because I want to hear how non-Filipinos see the issue to get a perspective without bias.

Just a little background: Duterte was widely known for his war on drugs campaign, which, according to his political opponents, led to extrajudicial killings. This is the case that the ICC has charged him with.

So, what are your thoughts on this?

The Philippine government officials involved in Duterte's kidnapping committed many violations of the law, it is clear that the President was the mastermind behind all of this, nothing else, because when he says that they just followed Interpol, the ICC itself said that the Philippine state participated in them.

They say it was because of the red notice, but it was just a diffusion notice because Interpol itself said there was no red notice. By doing that, Marcos only showed that he was a useless
leader of the country because he surrendered the country's sovereignty, and he only showed that the Filipino people should not really love him, because what he did was an act of treason and various countries actually saw that.

The dictatorship doesn't happen with "he wanted to but he didn't", you either stay a dictator or you leave and not be a dictator, and he left which means he wasn't a dictator. Of course he may have wanted to keep on the power, who wouldn't, if I was a president, I would rather do whatever legal means needed to keep my power, that is how you become a president and stay a president, if you just ignored campaigning then you won't be a president.

But as long as you do not move over to illegal part and illegally keep the power using military and militia, then you are not a dictator. He could be a bad president, I don't know, but being a bad president doesn't equal being a dictator.

What's the update on Digong? It's been almost two months since he was arrested. Will he still be able to return to the Philippines? It seems like the investigation is moving really slowly. But from what I’m seeing in the news now, the focus of the investigation is on whether the ICC has the right or jurisdiction to arrest Digong.

If I were part of Digong’s camp, I wouldn’t question the ICC about whether the Philippines is a member or not. What Digong camp should be answering is what he actually did during the war on drugs. If he didn’t do anything wrong or illegal, then that’s what they should focus on. Because when they keep insisting that the Philippines isn’t a member of the ICC, it kind of makes them look guilty and the case will just make  longer.

I definitely agree with you.

It seems like the camp of Duterte focuses too much on the lack of jurisdiction by the ICC against Duterte on his arrest. But it seems to me that technical rules of procedure will be disregarded (if proven that ICC has no jurisdiction, but I beg to differ) in order to focus on the substantial aspect of the case, which is the killings that happened during the drug war.

Like what most legal professionals have commented also, the camp should establish a defense that does not focus primarily regarding the jurisdiction. Given that this case would involve the appreciation of evidences on both parties, expect that this hearing would last years.
