Why is Africa so poor?

Let me correct OP of one mentality here concerning Africa that they are not poor at all, because one of the richest continents of the world with abundance of mineral resources is Africa, come to think of the sunny weather, the climate, its fertile soil for the purpose of agriculture and many other benefits which in which they enjoy in terms of abundance of what nature offers, but one thing i must confess to say they lack is in fast development and increasing rate of corruption, but aside this, Africa is not poor and they have everything needed to make riches but their leaders are not open to such development needed.
