A major distinction between the two types of traders would be the mindset that they approach the market with. For the trader who was part of an institution and worked there, they may not be under a lot of pressure to deliver satisfactory results at all times simply because their survival and salary does not depend on it but for a self-made trader you are under almost all emotional and psychological pressure because you are trading for the purpose of survival and whether you would eat or not depends on the trading results that you are able to get. Trading under such condition puts you under a lot of pressure.
Agreed and for someone that's under alot of pressure, their results mightn't always be what they wanted because every decision that they're taking has to be calculated to result in good outcome or they're going to miss making money that day or week. I can't be trading in that type of pressure because I know it'll affect the way I'm trading and the outcome I'll be getting. There are some traders that'll do so well in those conditions but those types of traders aren't too many in the market. Most of the traders will prefer to be in a very comfortable condition that it isn't a must that they'll win all thier trades as their survival depends on the trade. Trading is stressful and also being time consuming hence as a trader, you'll need all he relaxation that you can get to get the job done perfectly.

I thought formally learned trader is someone who learn trading from a tutor while using the skills learnt to practice trading for his own benefits, that's the way i could define.
Though, there are many advantages and disadvantages of these traders in terms of risk taking and understanding of trades, a self made traders already understand the important of repeatation and had witnessed many circle of market movement to the point he doesn't waste much time to enter the trade when such opportunity arrives while the other trader will only learn repeatative market conditions but doesn't fully grasp what it means.

Where experiences are built more, that kind of trader will likely to succeed more. And most likely, self-made trader develop his own knowledge and skills, and create his trading experiences in the market, compared to a formally learned trader where it’s more focus on theories rather than practical experiences.

Same here but it can be the former too, or it can also depend on their way of learning trading. Obviously a tutor are only good at the start but once we end our session, it is now all up to us. Even though errors are still there, I think this is far from a practice anymore. It is when we are still starting is where we practice the most. Yes, each has their own kind of pros and cons when it comes to trading. If there is one that doesn't like to waste time, that is actually the traders that have a tutor but both can experience a repetition, I mean what about when we do the actual trade to earn over and over again? Having a grasp can only or also depend on the individual and not if they have a tutor or not.

Actually having a work related into market is a good opportunity because not everyone has the background to give on it they just know the process but if you know how it works and can apply with your own and use this as make an extra income its another good win but if you don't have but have an internet of course seems like everyone nowadays have their own internet can now easily browse and learn from their own, now its depends on the person how they will take the learnings to generate another source of income, yes failure is part of it but every time you fail you will learn to avoid in the future trades and prevent mistakes.

That’s also my own understanding from OP’s narrative. Though both have distinctions, but they share the same goal, that is to apply what they’ve learned and end up in profits. It’s just that a self-made trader is more likely to succeed at times because he is already used to how the market reacts or behaves, while the other trader is still focused on developing his concrete knowledge and skills, finalize his own strategies before he’ll decide to go on real trading.

For me i think it doesn't matter that a self made trader is earning more than a formerly learned trader. What I know is they are all traders and what really matters is that if they can be profitable in their trades then they are good to go. Because you can still find a self made trader that still hunts for more knowledge and he may tend to go learn or grab some knowledge from the learned trader, and then it makes the learned trader earn more in this regards cause he'll be the one coaching the self made trader. So what matters here is the ability for both to be profitable and lose while trading.

A formally learned trader could still that be able to end up on the same on which they can be able to learn on things on what self made trader could have. It is only just that on the duration on which these both traders do able to know but in overall or making up some generalization that everything is sharing up with the same goal and targets on which they do become profitable on dealing up with this volatile space. There's no way that we can be able to make ourselves achieve success without hard work and perseverance. For those who have that formally learned trader on which they do came up with a mentor on which it doesnt mean that they are less knowledgeable into those who are self-learn. Both things will came up into the same path at the moment that they are the ones who are already making up their own traders with their own decision. This is where you do apply all the knowledge that you had obtained or gained. On the moment that you do become a trader and learn all possible things neither from other sources or path or method but still sharing up with the same goal on which is to make profits with this unpredictable market. This is why its not that important on where you do put up your path whether in other one or the other. It all matters into your preference and it all matters whether you are capable on providing yourself into those aids when you are just that starting up. What matter the most on here is that you do able to learn the specific skills and the rest of those learnings could be acquired through real experience.

And when you said somebody is self-made the person's tolerance is very strong and can withstand anything because the person has gathered enough experience and people will not have a choice but to just chest whatever they might be encountering because of the kind of waves that Bitcoin comes with is not everyone that can withstand it, and the trader has a lot to do when they are building there skill because they don't expect anyone to take advantage of others to teach you when they barely have time. After all, it is not all traders that will teach and the few ones that will teach will charge a huge amount of money and they won't even teach you everything. If you look at these academies they are always teaching theories and another strategy they use to make money is there different grade classes that you can register to i not as if you can register and learn and then finish everything and you can start trading and this is why sometimes if you look at it, it is better to just use self-learning and gather enough experience because does academy you will waste your time and you won't learn anything.

The self-made trader has the entrepreneurial spirit but lacks the granular details of how a bank operates. Both types of trader have their hurdles but at the end of the day,it has more to do with each person’s commitment to doing the additional work necessary to risk their own capital for a living.
The self made trade has got their own disadvantages just like the formerly learned trader. But commitment of one's self comes in the most for a self made trader because a formerly learned trade can be kept under monitoring and a regulated environment that force's them to behave in a particular pattern the firm trust to make them some profit, this at some point is an advantage for them because it helps them grow discipline over time unlike the self made who has to condition themselves into this and since they aren't under any form of monitoring its possible they could derailed at some point but the other may not, at the point of conversion it's actually a bit difficult for the formerly learned guy unlike the self made who has been in the environment already, personally I would rather be a self made trader.

It doesn't matter because trading is not just having a lot of experience or knowledge in order to earn, but it depends on how they apply their learning. It is more on strategic planning and market analysis.
Might be an advantage to having proper training, but still, that never guarantees success because these traders may change for some reasons—emotional and mental issues.
At the end of the day, traders rely on their approaches and decision-making. And the results vary from their actions. We can be good traders as long as we are determined to work hard.
True, trading isn’t all about having those proper knowledge and developed skills, and even gained experiences, but it’s all about who can stood still in the end despite of how many failures and losses, yet quitting never crossed their mind. We all know that there are a lot of interested traders out there, all share the same goal to be profitable, but not everyone have the qualities of a good and successful trader. A lot may have started, but only few of them remained and succeeded in the end.

There's trading and there's the business side of trading. Every trader mustn't open up the business side of it. They can decide to just trade and not indulge the business side of it. It's the same way that not every business minded person can trade. I don't see why it should be a hurdle to crosse for any trader who doesn't want to explore the business side of it or any business person who doesn't want to go into trading. No, it shouldn't. We should choose carefully where our strength lies and use that to our greatest advantage, instead of dabbling into what we can't fully utilize.

The reason why a self-made trader can be more successful is that a person who works for a company or a firm will have limitations set because they can't go beyond one point. There can also be strict instructions for them to follow. If they don't follow them, they might lose their job, whereas a person who is doing it individually, with their own money, they will have no limits, they can do whatever they want as long as they think it's going to work positively for them, so they have more freedom to explore the industry and the market.
It also depends on a person's knowledge, experience, and budget. If a self-learned trader has all these things, they can gain success and become more successful as a trader compared to a person working for another entity. Those who trade for or with companies will also have budget constraints because they will probably be using the money allocated by the firm.

Basically the same mistake as getting a college degree = getting a decent job. Doesn't work that way. At the end of the day it's all about networking and personal skill so regardless of college or not, if you can do both then you can go high sooner or later. That and a little bit of luck can get you to heights of building your own major company or even more really. It's also why I never really tried to actually go and learn from so called "master" traders, They probably don't know jack than your average trader imo. At the end of the day it's your own money and trusting someone to spend it for you just doesn't sit well with me. And, again, well just in general, being lucky.

While self made one definitely has the pressure and to do well, the professional one has a lot more resources to learn from, even something as simple as learning from your friends around you. Otherwise it makes no sense and most of them end up with bad results if they are not careful.
This is why they need to be doing a lot better than they normally do and self made trader needs to learn all of this... well just like the name suggest, by themselves. So that is why professional one, specially one that turns from professional to personal, could make a lot more money. If they keep doing this then there won't be any big trouble with it, and I would favour the professional one to make more money on the long term as well.

Exactly. Profit is what matters; whether a self-made trader or a formerly learnt trader, the most important thing here is the profit they should be making. Both of them should be on the good side of trading, and that is what matters. So regardless of which type of trader someone is, they should be making money from the market; that is what matters. However, sometimes, as you said, when a trader attended a class and learnt the trading process well, there is something that the self-made traders must lack and look for someone who formerly learnt trading to enlighten them about, so both are very good, but the most important thing is the profit part of trading .

A self-made trader has already been in profits at times, while a formally learned trader is still setting its own plans on how make profits and maximize it. I think that’s how most likely the difference of these two. Although I would say formally learned trader has already acquired different theories and strategies, but we all know that won’t make sense unless being applied, while a self-made trader has already gone back and forth, and is still experiencing a lot more.

Formally trained means you know the basics of economics, you learn everything before you trade. And then you generally trade for a company, do the job of a broker, for a brokerage. I don't think many people on this forum are like this, most people here trade their own money. Self taught. Gambling oops I mean trading own capital.

Most self-taught people including traders were borne out of the self-motivation and to change their financial status. However, that they are self-taught doesn't make them any better or special than those who learned it in a formalized environment. Also, it doesn't mean that they are going to be more successful and profitable in trading than the others. So in the end, I agree with the OP that success in trading hinges on the trader’s mindset, willingness to put in the work, and ability to manage risks independently.

I don't think there's an argument to be held here. Self-taught or not, as long as the trader in question is making cold hard cash then it's all good. Because at the end of the day, the path don't matter that much as long as you're willing to put in the work, stick to what works and consistency refine your strategies, you'd be successful in the trading game. ~Snipped

This. Couldn't agree more. It doesn't matter the path. Commitment and devotion to the grind supercedes all.
