Alliance to End Human Trafficking Urges Senate Leadership to Strengthen Anti-Trafficking Safeguards in Digital Asset Legislation
WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 22, 2026) — The Alliance to End Human Trafficking today was joined by the Jesuit Conference’s Office of Justice and ecology, dozens of Catholic sisters, anti-trafficking advocates, survivor leaders, and other Catholic leaders in urging the Senate Leadership to address provisions in H.R. 3633, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, that could weaken safeguards against illicit finance and create vulnerabilities that traffickers and other criminal actors may exploit.

In a letter sent to Senators Thune and Schumer, signatories expressed concern that certain provisions of the legislation could create regulatory ambiguities that make it more difficult to monitor and disrupt financial activity linked to human trafficking, child exploitation, organized crime, and other forms of abuse.

“Human traffickers are quick to exploit new technologies when oversight fails to keep pace,” said Katie Boller Gosewisch, Executive Director of the Alliance to End Human Trafficking. “We support responsible innovation and recognize the promise of emerging financial technologies, but Congress must ensure that innovation is accompanied by strong safeguards that protect vulnerable people and prevent criminal abuse.”

I still dismiss this news as mere noise. Your next step will be in mid-July: a cheerful group will gather in New York, and each representative will express their opinions and concerns. If this group reaches an agreement, the bill will go to the Senate for a vote. The most likely scenario, in my opinion, is that additional hearings will be scheduled, but it's difficult to say yet what format this will take.

The decision on this act will be made by senators, not ordinary people. I think it's very difficult to manipulate senators through the opinions of nuns.
According to the unofficial rules of negotiations, this is only one of the levers for defending your position.
I haven't changed my opinion. At the very beginning, I wrote that the United States needs this law, so I am confident that it will be adopted, but I don’t know with what amendments it will be adopted. I think negotiations are still ongoing.

I recently read American reports from US sociological centers (Pew Research Center, Gallup and AP-NORC), and in their opinion, US citizens are concerned with completely different issues.
Americans are concerned about inflation, healthcare, expensive mortgages, migration, and security issues.
The nuns' opinions are important, but they represent a very small portion of the electorate.

My confidence is based not on gut feelings, but on logic. If the US wants to become the crypto capital of the world, as the president said, then the country needs this law.

I associate some secret agreements with the conspiracy, but here it's a clear political struggle for interests, with the nuns acting as one of the levers of pressure. Democrats and Republicans do the same thing, and Trump isn't the only one with interests in cryptocurrency.
Which bills *aren't* "corrupt," given that major companies with their own agendas are lobbying for every single one of them?

I agree with you, so I don't take this news seriously. The most important news will come at the Senate hearings, and then there will be more useful information.

I don't know any more than you do. If this is manipulation, we could see bad news before December of this year, and then the law will be passed in the last session before the Senate changes. We don't yet know what will happen after the Senate elections and which Republican or Democratic majority will prevail.
I'm not even looking at the Polymarket results.
