In past few months, I heard a lot about "AI coins" and I couldn't understand them correctly.
As far as I know, they are a very special form of utility token right? So what is their actual purpose? The holder can spend them on AI services? or they're just a way of finding investment or funds for AI projects? or both?
For specific projects (ChainGPT for example) I know that I can go with the whitepaper, but currently I just got a little confused about what makes them different from other utility tokens?

Regards.

As long as I understood from ChainGPT's website, they're trying to democratize AI tools by selling their tokens source.
I don't know how legit they're but the idea seems cool.

First, you don't have to bump your thread less than 24 hours. Because it looks like that you have bumped this thread when no one has replied yet.

13. Bumps, "updates" are limited to once per 24 hours per thread.

As far as I know, they are a very special form of utility token right? So what is their actual purpose? The holder can spend them on AI services?
Like worldcoin, it's an AI token and owned by one of the makers of OpenAI. I haven't seen it yet that you can purchase their services through it but they have a global vision of using this coin just to fund people that they're going to get their irises through their scanner that are place in many parts of the world. It's more of funding and research development.

Never saw an official announcement from OpenAI about the ChatGPT or any other AI token, so I would be vigilant around those.

Sam Altman is the developer of OpenAI and he's also part of the company that has developed Worldcoin. As for Chatgpt, it's also owned and developed by OpenAI which Sam was part of it. But I think in the latter, he has stepped down or fired or sold his shares, I didn't know what happened next. And what OP is saying about chaingpt, it looks like a company that develops AI products. Maybe it's good if they're into that development but they don't need to have any tokens anymore because the market is so crowded with that.

However, Worldcoin and ChatGPT are two completely different concepts, and neither is related to the other in terms of development level or objectives. The founder may be the same person, but that doesn't make the two concepts the same. Worldcoin likely wasn't the expected success, and Sam Altman must have abandoned the project early after realizing its futility.

As for AI token projects, they're just a new wave fabricated to capitalize on the general market trend. Can you tell me about celebrity tokens and what their purpose was other than to serve as a trading tool to generate profit from the price margin? Similarly, AI tokens are nothing more than dump tokens, meaning they're a scammy scheme colored with the word "AI".

2. I heard about the world coin (and I actually hear a lot about it from AI NFT artist community) but didn't know it is from people of OpenAI. It seems cool, but in a very personal opinion, it becomes more valuable when you can spend it on OpenAI services such as ChatGPT or Sora.

I've been curious about AI coins too! The way I get it, most AI coins are like small tokens you use on platforms that do neat AI things like checking out data, whipping up stuff like articles or running clever computer programs. You can pay for things on those platforms with the coins and they also help the project grow by getting more people to join. What makes them stand from other tokens is that they're all about AI and the fun things those platforms can do.

So my consideration is real. They're the currency you can spend on AI tools.

I think it's so confusing on what on the world is happening with Sam Altman with all of these projects that he's involved with. But for the first time when the WLD has been introduced and the things that OpenAI makes, everyone was likely hyped on that.

As for AI token projects, they're just a new wave fabricated to capitalize on the general market trend. I agree to that, with a lot of AI tokens and projects that have come out recently, most of them are scammy and are just riding the hype that it still has. But I've been seeing AI projects since 2017-2018 and I think only a few of those have remained in the market.

It's not from OpenAI but the one that's involved from it, Sam Altman was part of both Worldcoin and OpenAI.

AI coins are tokens used to support and power platforms that combine artificial intelligence with blockchain technology. They help users pay for AI services, reward people who contribute data or computing power, and enable secure, decentralized marketplaces for AI tools and information. These coins also give holders a say in how the platforms develop, making the whole system more open and community-driven.

Recently we seen the explosion of meme coins, it's pretty obvious the next narrative is gona be AI coins - with every normie starting to use AI in theri daily lives.

Well, a lot of people then start making rugpull schemes for AI tools then  Grin jokes aside, AI and Blockchain have a lot in common and a lot to combine. I guess a well crafted integration can make a really good change in people's lives.

On the scam side, I noticed an ai website is just a scam project on this subforum. AI hype can motivate a lot of bad guys to scam people.

The actual purpose of AI coins may be to make money by its developers and the same goes for most of the altcoins in the industry. An altcoin is being made/minted keeping its insane ROI in case the coins hits the people expectations. Usually, most of the coins have a very good White Paper and roadmap, but many of them do not follow them and cease to exist in some cases in mid to long term. Since there is a narrative of AI these days, people tend to launch AI coins with no use case whatsoever but to make money.  Sad

the purpose of AI coin is as a coin to support things related to AI, it can be like a chatbot-like product, or other AI products, or basically it's just a shitcoin that uses AI as their marketing gimmick. because no one knows if what is claimed by AI coins is true as what they say. it could be true that they are developing a chatbot like chatgpt, or it could just rely on the AI trend just to take some profit from the crypto market. so be smart in choosing which project you will put your money in because most of the projects in the crypto world today are scams.

There isn't an official token of openAI in the crypto world, never heard of it, if there was any then we would have bought that long ago and it would have been top 10 easily. They do not need it, they are getting investment from all over the place, hell even from governments.

But, the one thing that I am pretty sure about is the other AI coins are just shitcoins that are using the trendy name of AI to get funding and make themselves rich, nothing more. Do not look into any of them and just ignore them, but if you really want to, then research them very carefully and use their products if you can, you will realize they are not to be trusted, and many do not even have a product, in which case why would you give your money to them on a promise on a napkin?

I guess if they show a working product first, it can make trust.

On the scam side, I noticed an ai website is just a scam project on this subforum. AI hype can motivate a lot of bad guys to scam people.

It depends on the name and reputation of the team behind the project and what their platform can offer to the community. Take a look at Venice.ai; the man behind its creation is Erik Voorhees. He happens to be  the founder of the cryptocurrency exchange ShapeShift, and the AI's purpose is
Quote
its purpose is to provide a platform for users to interact with AI models in a private and uncensored manner. The platform allows users to ask questions, seek information, and engage with AI without the constraints of censorship or data collection. The focus is on giving users control over their interactions with AI, ensuring that their data remains private and that they can explore a wide range of topics freely.

And not only that, you can stake their Venice chat token or VVV for more information about Venice.ai check this out : https://venice.ai/vvv

Thanks for introducing this project. Since I had some similar ideas in mind, this will be obviously helpful.

I'm gonna be honest, some of AI coin are just literal chatGPT wrapper, while some of the other at least have some underlying functionality like being an AI agent to fetch prices and so on.
But there are so many projects trying to take advantage of the hype and capitalize on it.

This is also the reason why I'm so hesitant investing in AI coin, I don't feel like there's the need for the coin in the first place, but if it's something like nillion, render, and so on which actually bring something to the table and what I mean by that is, real innovation into decentralized space which is crypto basically, then i'd still invest on them. For the most part, I just ignore majority of AI coin.

I also analyzed ChainGPT. They offer OpenAI based solutions (like API or Agents) and also they offer solutions such as decentralized data repository and in their future programs they also have plans of becoming a GPU provider (I guess this is what render does currently).
The problem in most of these tokens (based on personal observation) is the problem of clarity. In the current space, everyone can mint a token with a price of a bottle of soda and can advertise it like it's the next bitcoin. The win-win game will be when the project is clear and the investor did enough research.

If we can have a proper AI company that does crypto as well, we can have a big project in our hands. Why? Because it can access not only money, funds like crazy, but it can access computing power as well. Make the mining and rewards based on computing power people give, and they make coins/tokens based on that, like mining. That solves the computing power that AI needs.

And then let people buy/fund/invest into this token/coin so that the team could hire more and more people to make money based on how they could move further and they would be getting a much better result, it should not be that easy to handle but they can do it, not going to be that easy but not going to be that hard neither. So we just need a proper company to do this, not just some wannabe dev who wants money but an actual company who wants to grow.
