I enjoy the fact that Nigerian institutions are accepting cryptos for fees but one thing i want Nigerians to improve upon is there knowledge on cryptocurrency and how it works, when institutions are creating their payment system and are giving crypto payment options, the awesomeness is been awakened, which is why i was bit upset in my spirit that CBEX successful scammed Nigerians, if they had known or where well knowledgeable about cryptocurrency and how it works, they would know that the company was a fake crypto exchange company.

Some setbacks serve as lessons to some people for the bigger challenge ahead of them in the crypto space. Not cool that most of this people were scammed because of lack of their knowledge of cryptocurrencies, but it will make some of them, if not most of them to learn more willingly about bitcoin and not to allow them fall another victim of such scams. It was an eye opener for many to be more careful and I hope most of them will be while the EFCC continue to trace those behind it and bring them to justice. The era of bitcoin and cryptocurrency in Nigeria is fast approaching and we will see it becoming a legal and alternative way to make payments.

While surfing the internet, it caught my attention, and I realised that this kind of discussion has not been raised here in the local board meanwhile it was discussed in other boards and was praised however in Nigeria it already happened years back.

We done get this kind discussion before and I remember commenting on it, e get when churches too been come out to dey accept tithes for crypto. Infact many businesses and establishments they accept crypto low key for the county but then dey avoid to loud am because them understand how the government for the country dey work so no body go wan dey the government bad side because them go use power intimidate you and probably give you allegations wey you o go for come out from and even though you succeed, you might have spoiled the name of your business and people will avoid associating with you and na why people dey do their things low key.

Officially I don't support going against the government laws so if Nigeria say Bitcoin na illegal for the country, make e stay that way and when things change then we can come out openly to accept it to avoid government wahala. The worst wahala you fit enter na to dey problem with government especially for a country wey corrupt like this.
Na true the way the country dey if person get business wey e dey accept bitcoin or any other crypto na to do am low key but for this guy wey I talk about I notice say them no really ban bitcoin but them restrict only banks to dey process crypto related transactions but e no say make people wey dey use crypto no use am.

As e do am e come be like him na hero we fit challenge government, but na weytin person no suppose try because dem no dey fight government.

For the place wey dem don talk about this topic I no really notice am but anyways I believe say na good step towards adoption for this country.

The thing is they can announce that just catch up People's attention since bitcoin and cryptocurrency are the new wave of global trends and he wouldn't mind using that as a strategic marketing structure to announce his school to the world, mainwhile, how do you think a federal government or Central Bank would placed a ban or digital currency and a private school director go against the general law of the federal? So, it's better to think twice before we give conclusion about him accepting Bitcoin, in fact he could be sanctioned or falsely to close down the school if for any reason go against the law then his school could be sanctioned.

A lot of businesses in Nigeria accept bitcoin as a means of payment. It is just the ban the Nigerian federal government placed on our traditional banks not to process any bitcoin transactions that made people in Nigeria not openly accept bitcoin as a means of payment in their business so that the Nigerian federal government will not come after them and possibly close down their business for going against their policy. When Buhari was redesigning our local currency (naira), which led to a scarcity of naira in the country, a lot of businesses in Nigeria were accepting bitcoin as payment low-key so that people who own bitcoin could easily pay for goods and services without passing through difficult times.

This is a welcome development then Nigeria needs this types of school visionary men who will defy all the odds and and go the line of truth because as of then alot of people will have been saying alot about the school that is receiving Bitcoin as a payment method, this school will stand out today as the pioneers of this kind of gesture i just pray that more schools and businesses should learn from this and use bitcoin as a payment method in their transactions

As one of the highest adopters of Bitcoin in the world I think that Nigeria is still lacking in the areas of using Bitcoin in terms of the local market because am looking forward to seeing the day that Bitcoin will be used when you enter the eateries or shop for any business transactions that you want to do

The matter sef nor be say weda people fit afford am or not. That school normally nor be for common man children na elites dey send their children go those kind Ivy League private schools. Nigerians like classism na why them dey pay in dollars for school fees for country wey him currency value nor reach that kind money.

Woooooow, wonders shall never end, so Naija take crypto serious like this??
Funny enough, assuming say our government no follow draw us back when e come to crypto, Naija for don already Dey take advantage of the innovative opportunities wey come with Bitcoin and crypto at large. If you check some other countries now, them don extend blockchain technologies to other sectors and not just the financial sector. Them don Dey extend am from security, data analysis, educational, agriculture and several other sectors. Na all these things our country for Dey enjoy now, if no be say our government just draw us back for this side, making us to no put attention for that side.

It was wonderful news, even as is almost 4 years now, I have never come across this kind of news, despite that our government behaves as if everything related to cryptocurrencies is their biggest issue in this country. They no want bitcoin to be used in any area of the country, and our local bank was even threatening us to ban our account if we do any transactions related to cryptocurrency activities. They didn't think of the good things that we get in our country, and they are stopping us from taking advantage of what their children are doing outside the country.

However, it was still surprising that someone from the North is accepting Bitcoin as a means of payment, as a secondary school, and sometimes we believe it is the North people who will be against such thing, especially in Kano state because of their religious stuffs. Everything about this country is gra gra, they will stop when they are tired. They have stopped dragging us, and the warning no dey show on our local bank.

Wow! So, something like dat actually happened for dis Naija? Anyway, na my first time to read something of dis nature for awa board. I nor even sure sey I don read am elsewhere for dis forum sef. Na bold step dat school owner take dat time then but we nor know whether na personal vendetta make am confront govment dat way or na genuine love for dis industry?

Im nor even reason sey govment fit shut down his school, ni? Na open confrontation im do so. While wetin im do dey applauded, I believe it could've been counter productive for am. Govment fit to even blacklist his school for external exams sef like WAEC or NECO for disobedience. E fit happen.

Anyway, I go like know how dat matta take be wit d guy whether him still dey collect crypto payment for tuition now wey govment don dey open about cryptos. Abi im don pack up.

I'm not suprised cause just like you and I that are Bitcoiners, any reasonable business person would adopt Bitcoin to their business, we all know that not everyone would pay their fees in Bitcoin, infact majority of the students would pay through fiat but they can still hold the tuition fees that would be payed by some parents for as long as possible.

It's also a good way to DCA since all the students who's tuition fees would be payed in Bitcoin won't be payed the same time but on different periods so that's a very bold step by that particular school and a way of encouraging parents and other schools towards buying and holding Bitcoin for the future.

He really showed that he understood the benefits that comes with owning Bitcoin, that's genuine love cause regardless of the regulations by the government by then he still stood his ground, even though he didn't continue the process of accepting Bitcoin as tuition fees, I believe that him on his own would be holding it.

That’s not true. There aren’t a lot of local businesses in Nigeria that accept bitcoin as means of payment. It’s a surprise to see a local business that accepts crypto as payment. I have seen a few and I’m always fascinated by it. I know some members of our local board myself included have adopted bitcoin as a means of payment in their businesses but that’s it. Nigerians are still warming up to the idea of paying for goods and services with bitcoin.

While surfing the internet, it caught my attention, and I realised that this kind of discussion has not been raised here in the local board meanwhile it was discussed in other boards and was praised however in Nigeria it already happened years back.

Me self go like follow up the Matta as e concern bitcoin to know whether the man continue dey collect bitcoin or any other crypto till today for the school but even the news wey I see the update dem no really get full gist about the man waka with government so I go do research on the background to know how far.

Na truth you talk too say government fit blacklist him school from all this big exams but that one no go really worry am because most private schools no dey allowed self but them dey use corner corner ways still write some na under government school while some na under another private school.

Back in 2021, A private school here in Nigeria announced they will be accepting bitcoin or cryptocurrency at large for tuition fee.

New Oxford Science Academy, a private secondary school in Kano State, Nigeria, has announced it will be accepting cryptocurrency as a means of payments for school fees despite the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) banning financial institutions from providing cryptocurrency-related services.

However, on February 5 2021, the (CBN) Centre Bank of Nigeria already banned banks and/or financial institutions in Nigeria not to process transactions with crypto related activities yet don't make it clear that individuals shouldn't use crypto or trade it.

Meanwhile, few months later Sabi’u Musa Haruna announced that his school (a private secondary school in Kano) will be accepting cryptocurrency to reduce the stress parents who will want to use such payment method.
It was a brave act from him and I applaud him for that, I believe this is the first and only Nigerian to accept crypto in his school.

While surfing the internet, it caught my attention, and I realised that this kind of discussion has not been raised here in the local board meanwhile it was discussed in other boards and was praised however in Nigeria it already happened years back.
While going through this I was very happy to read this knowing that it happened in Naija. When you come to Naija, the northerners have been so prominent in cryptocurrency and supports it by all means. The north was amongst the early adopters of bitcoin before it gradually leaked into other  zones. Kano in particular and Kaduna is one of the most prominent crypto hubs of the country. The moment I saw the location, my doubt dropped. In Kano and Kaduna, A particular crypto was acceptable for some commodity buy; ranging from cars to houses. A particular crypto is still acceptable by most northern car dealers in Kano and Kaduna.

I would love to read about the aftermath of the feud between the proprietor and government. However, we're almost in a time when bitcoin would be acceptable in possibly every big malls and business premises. This is why everyone needs to invest Aggressively and governments can push for global adoption.
