As far as I know, there is no such option. They notify the sender that the receiver has disabled receiving messages at the moment. The only feature the forum option has is to disable receiving messages from newbies, but if you don't want to get messages from anyone, you can just block anyone from sending you messages by adding them to your message ignore list if their messages are bothering you.

Go to your profile settings. Then enter the personal message options, there you will have an ignore list, add the user you do not want to be able to send you pms there.

I cannot tell how it shows on the users side, but you will not receive the message.

As far as I know that there is no options like that to disable the messages.

But you there is the option for not allowing the newbies to PM, And apart from that, if you have any problem with personal messages, you can set the "Notify by email every time you receive a personal message: " option to Never. This will prevent you from receiving any PM notifications in your email.

If I understand you correctly then you want to disable receiving personal message from other users? Then you can go to Profile - Personal Message Options - check/uncheck Allow newbies to send you PMs.

Try to add "*" instead of usernames on your Personal Message Options to ignore all messages as per describe on that page.

Wouldn't it seem i only block certain people that way?

As per the description, if you add "*" it will ignore "all" the messages (incoming messages probably).
If you put a username, then that specific user only will be ignored.

There's no note related to it, so i guess there's character limit to it as long, it's an existing username.

But that would be the most ignored user in this forum if everyone follows same settings.

That means people have to ask you in public before they can send you a PM. Imagine the number of posts if everyone would do that.

No, only private members, specific users, can message me only.
Others don't have to know who does.

You can disable all newbie accounts from sending you messages by unchecking that option in profile settings.
That should be enough in most cases, but you can also make your own ignore list, disable popups and email notifications.
If you don't want to receive any messages than this forum is not the good place for you.

Do you mean to disable incoming messages for everyone or just for one or few annoying users. If the later is the reason, there is a solution. You can block individuals from sending you pm. But if the former is the case, then there's no need being in the forum if you wouldn't want anyone to message for anything.
