Should we advocate for more merit source

Yes, as the board moderator, I will play a crucial role in determining who will be the next additional merit source, and the reporting thread will play a significant factor in my decision and how frequently the candidate sends merits to the board per post.

These would be some of my criteria for recommending the next merit source.  Anyone with a keen eye for quality posts would be an excellent merit source too..

Honestly I have taking some time to go across this our board and I have actually seen some posts wey make sense but did not receive any merit.
Let's be honest if person take out time to make good post and the post actually make sense it can serve as an encouragement to that person if they get at least a merit as a sign of recognition.

This our local board will really grow high if Nigerian see that their post made here gets recognition.
 

The issue of merits and merit sources is becoming a serious one in this local board and will need discretion to handle. As for me I will say that if getting new merit sources will help meet up the demands of the local board in aspect of giving merits to merit worthy posts, then it should be encouraged and also merits cannot only come from merit sources. I want to plead with those of us who have smerits to also help in encouraging people with good posts that are merit worthy especially those who are lacking behind in merits.

Is there any need to advocate for merit source here again when we already have 2 merit sources, even though one of them is not a local board merit source, but they still merit posts that are worth it? What we ought to do at this moment is to try to call to the attention of our admin, Theymos, to increase the merit quota of our 2 merit sources so that the merit can go round and be sustainable for the Nigerian community. I see no reason why this argument here, we should unite and make sure things go on well with our local board.

Just like our moderator has said, we should try and submit posts that are worth merit to make it easier for him to do his work, and this would be very effective here to seeing that the community grows very fast. We too should always help to make things easy for ourselves by being our brother's keeper.

I don't think that outside this board most Nigerians are recognized as low quality posters, because there are many Nigerians who don't participate in LB discussions but still earn merits because they choose to only focus on general boards. Majority of Nigerians are in signature campaigns, do you mean that campaign managers will select a low quality poster to promote a brand. Just because you don't partake in Technical Discussions does not mean that you are a low quality poster. There are quality posters in the gambling board too. Nigerians are doing great in the general board only few finds it difficult to cope over there. It was back days that you can say this not now because we are really trying.

there is need to advocate for more merit source, because this naija board don too dey populated and only one merit source can't be enough for the board anymore and secondly igebot get others things to do aside this forum so you don't expect only him to able to handle all the merit distributions that's why will need more merit source that will support him in distributing merits to quality posts and even the thread you are refering to igebot hardly visit that thread because his busy doing others outside this forum.

Less of the talk on merits sources, we can have them and also never get the necessary satisfaction we desired, because obviously it's not every thread or user that is going to attract being merited by these sources, considering their monthly allocation and some other factors, am not saying this to side anyone, but I think it's high time we all take dlfull responsibility for our own self and work harder to earn more merits from other boards aside the local board, this is my own take and I think we are also falling under the same obligations of not meriting the necessary quality post if we see one, we don't have to be a source before we can merit a post, it's individual's responsibility at their own discretion and same applies to the sources as well, they give base on how convinced they are about any post being a quality one.

IMO the way most Nigerians earn their merit can somehow been seen as scratching in some global threads, so while they are being merited some members feel it is for the sole aim of getting merit, and stats shows a large percentage of dialogue are from Nigerian members in those thread.

How do you merits a post if you don't receive merits or if the merits aren't in circulation enough?
Enough merits in circulation then enough merits are being given out to people who deserves it. Yes I support what you are saying but of recently other sources has been so tight about their merits except for few people who are doing merits review to users who are applying on their threads and these people aren't biased on their merits distribution provided you applied on their thread they would definitely merits such post without any partiality.

As you can almost everyone who grows here gained their merits from English board especially those who are that technically enough to post at the technical board do gain their merits from those area and come back here to distribute them, this shows that we need more merits source for the merits to keep circulating the board, the work are tight for the already existing source so we need additional sources to make work easier for them. For example we had two people from our local board who applied and also there are also already existing pending application which we need theymos to review it as well to know why there are so much worries about merits.

I'll drop quality posts I can get hold off by reading on the forum over the course of a week and hit up updates here every weekends as the case may be (already found a few ).

I also want to use this as a medium to urge board members to not hesitate in increasing the output of quality posts on the forum especially in the aspects of technicals since we have very few of them.

This is really nice ngl, I just hope you be able to keep it going because this will really help to encourage more users here to focus on building the quality of their post by researching more .

Concerning the technical part , yeah is good to have some technical idea about bitcoin but not everyone can though because some people don’t literally have enough chance to go deep into technical part that is why I thank God for the tech bros we have here that’s still helping out when it comes to technical issues.

Everyone have their own different aspect they are basing on, and it will be nice if other users can also use the medium to also support other good posters via this thread , reducing the work , I will still try and help in ways I can maybe any time I have spare smerit I will also support.

Good to see that you have finally taken up the task to report quality posts weekly from the local board, it's not an easy task though but thanks for your selfless service to the local board. Just like i said that the well-being of the local board should be a collective efforts and not just to be left by the moderator alone. However, you should have made the new thread you opened for reporting quality posts self-moderated or better still you can lock the thread and open it whenever you want to write the reports after which you can still lock it again to avoid any comment on that thread as you said.

As the moderator,  I believe you're wise enough and capable of seeing majority of the activities of merit source aspirants as to how generous and active they are in keeping the board in good condition. You know better than we do, not judging from favoritism as some of us would, that make you the best decision making body of the local board.  All I ask is that theymos should give you a listening ear to our request so that the ratio of post to merit would come Close to being fair compared to other boards.

I dis agree with your advocacy, I think there’s need to advocate for more merit sources if really the merits are available to be bestowed on deserving posts. It will save energy and time especially as the forum is expanding every day, if only one or two persons are charged with the responsibility of meriting posts, then I think the work load will be much on them trying to sort out deserving merits posts. There are so many post which deserves merits but are not getting it simply because the person in charge of meriting them are either busy with other stuffs.

First question about that thread is since you don’t want the thread to be litter with spams I think you should have made the thread a self moderated one so as to delete posts from the thread or you lock it right after you have added posts on it.

My question now goes to Igebotz and you, this new thread is it going to be the only one where submission of posts which are to be merited will be sent to, if it’s so then that leaves you with only the capacity to hand pick quality of posts which in my opinion isn’t a great fit there should be room for more recommendations by others because as human our ideology differs. For you, some posts aside technical posts aren’t much of a quality because it is your niche but there will be other quality posts too from other forum discussions that others can spot out quality in so how do they recommend that to the merit source

We need more sources of merit and I would be most happy if someone could be a source of merit who would go around the entire Naija board and send a merit for a worthy post. Although it will be a bit difficult at first but we definitely have an easy method. Since our local board only has 3 sections, it might not be too difficult to read the new topics in these 3 sections and send merit for a worthy post. I can estimate that it might take 30-40 minutes a day to do this.

We can even help each other from our own position and give a merit for a worthy post. In this case, many people may not have sMerit to send. However, if we express the attitude of helping each other, then maybe this problem will be solved. But the best is to get a discreet source of merit.

Well I can say that the recent idea is a Very nice initiative and this is really lovely, Igebotz has been doing a fantastic job and this sort of assistance will go a long way to enabled him carry out his duty even better.
To the lower rank members that made it on the list good job this is to say anyone here can be seen just continue your good work and to those that did not make it there is always an opportunity for you to work harder and surely you would be seen. Thought of an easier way to fix it though making use of user name wouldn't really fit in I guess so instead I used the #number to indicate the post I'm referring to. If you were surfing on mobile you may have been able to know the post I picked since they get moved up to the top of the screen if the page is long enough.
Anyways since I added the # numbers it should be easy to identify I'll continue adding them in future submissions.

I should have but I forgot that I didn't check the self moderation button before posting. The post boldly says don't post here and a reasonable person should know to keep off. Nevertheless as for the technical stuff..... I can't deny that I prefer technical posts but that doesn't mean I'll have a blind eye for others. For example all the posts I selected this week I think just one was partially technical. So me picking quality posts that are not technical isn't an issue.
