I don't even know which side you are on anymore, as you said against military and elected officials both. Well, for better clarity of my earlier post, let me break it down in other words.
For me, Democracy would have been better, but with the situation of things, Africa is not ready (both the citizens and the government). Now, since it's the government we are talking about, I will stick to it. Those leaders are stealing big time in the name of Democracy, and more offices are being created to steal that money (national, local assemblies etc). This is why I don't care if the Military is ruling, after all, the Military rulers in West Africa are arguably the most performing now, far better than their democratically elected counterparts.
I love Democracy, but it's not working in Africa, and even if I support Democracy, the power of the President on the continent where the System is still not working is too powerful because they don't hold them accountable, everybody fears the President and the President also truly intimidate with the position in the name of Democracy, and some rule with an iron fist, so what's the point?
My country, Nigeria, for example, is not ripe for the Presidency. The prime minister is enough, so that they will not be intoxicated by excesses power where everyone, including the judiciary is afraid and has been compromised.
That is true probably for all of the nations in the world, no nation should have a "president", like anyone who has more power. We should have congress or anything like that, which is elected, and then we should have a "speaker" type of role, a prime minister, someone who doesn't have any excess power than others, and just be able to represent country.
Basically a model for the other nations, a talkative person, someone who can chat well and nice, that's it. Giving someone powers, like USA does, which president can use executive order to get things done, isn't really a nice idea and should be staying away from that as much as we can. Would make more sense, and should be the way to move further with all of the governments in the world.
