Hello,

I have the following problem that the miner stopped hashing (but is still running in idle).

Physically, when you look at the miner, one fan is not running. When you look at it on a browser, one fan is shown with a speed of only 20 rpm but not zero. When I switched two fans on the miner, the "broken" fan was running again so it could be a problem with the connection inside the miner.

I've just cleaned the miner from the inside about a month ago so there should be no dust blocking something.

Is there the possibilty to use a command with FMS to swicht off one of the fans and then for example use an external power source to run the fan that is not working right now?

Another idea was, that I use a splitter to connect to fans to one output but then I still would have the problem that one fan output would be checked as not running so the miner would not work.

Do you have any ideas what I could do?

Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

I don't think there's a command to switch off the fan. The command you can use on the FMS tool is the fan speed.

If fan 1 is working after you swap the connection from working fan 2 and fan 2 is dead means, like you said, there's a problem inside the miner.

Possibly the power module on the MM board is broken, or there might be a shorted connection on the fan connection.

To confirm that it was an MM board, use a multimeter to check whether the fan output on the terminal reads normal voltage or no voltage.

If there's no voltage then possible there's a shorted part or the power module for fan is broken.
Using a multimeter, trace the line of that fan connection on the MM board to determine where the power cut occurred. It could be a burnt capacitor or resistor. If it appears to be physically burnt, replace it.

Or else replace the MM board if you don't have a donor board to replace those burnt parts.

BTC is still bearish at the moment, but it is getting weak. The market might shift while the RSI is making a reversal pattern.

Thanks a lot for your advice, I will check this the next days and will post the result here.

What makes me curious is, that when I log into the interface of the miner the dead fan is shown with 20 rpm and not with 0.

With MM board you mean the control board? https://www.letinemining.com/product_details/84.html

With MM board you mean the control board? ~link snip~

20 RPM is actually near 0 RPM, and I thought that this dead fan was working? Because you test it by swapping it from another fan slot?
If the fan is also dead then you also need to replace it.

About MMboard, yes, we are talking about the control board.

Since a fan is running but it is spinning very slowly. At 20RPM speed, the run is like a fan not running. The board has a problem, so the connectivity is not working correctly. There is a problem with the fan connectivity lines at any junction. You can check the MM board well.

Running a fan from outside cannot be done because the instructions for how much and how fast the fan should spin for the leader board are passed from the leader board to the fan. I also had such a problem once. Although I thought of running the fan from outside, I did not because the fan problem would be solved only after fixing the circuit board.

If you run the fan from the output alone, it will spin depending on the power of the production. There will be no connectivity with the board, so running the fan from the output will not be good. If you check your leaderboard and try to solve the problems, the fan problem will be solved.

Hello,

Now I've had the time to check the miner thoroughly.

The fans are connected to the Board with black plugs and one of those plugs was brittle - maybe due too excessive heat/ being old - and therefore the fan didn't connect to the board anymore.

I've soldered a new plug to the cable and now the fans are running again but for whatever reason the miner is not mining.

edit #1: I restartet the miner manually (switched it off, unplugged all the fans, plugged them in again and switched it on again) and now it is running.

@BitMaxz: in an older thread of mine you referred to the official Canaan support the get a new firmware update. The problem is, that my miner is not listed there (anymore). Is there a another possibilty to get the firmware from another reliable source?
I'll check the forum here myself if there is anything that I can find.

edit #2:
just half an hour later it stopped mining again. When it was running, I saw three different temperatures (1 input, 2 output) now it shows just one temperature again. Is there a possibility to see the last maximum temperature or the reason for a restart and switch to idlde somehow?

~snip~

The fans seems detected normally, meaning the fans are fixed, but it seems you have another issue: the PS shows no supply to the two hashboard ECMM displays 1 means there is a connection problem between the hashboard and the control board. Bootby shows abnormal on the 2nd logs and both logs show 0 hashboard under SYSTEMSTATU.

Try to disassemble the unit again, check for the terminal socket and the cable, clean the plug and the socket terminal with isopropyl alcohol, connect them again, and make sure it's plugged in properly, then test it again.

If it doesn't work, try cleaning the power terminal on the hashboard, the metal part. Use sandpaper to clean that terminal, then test again.

Update here if it fixes your issue.

BTC is still bearish at the moment, but it is getting weak. The market might shift while the RSI is making a reversal pattern.
