Bitcoin dominance will melt for altcoins season to start. Do you agree?

Looks like this circle will be different for altcoins because bitcoin has been dominating since last year and the price hasn't dropped to the point that altcoins will take over. I don't think that we should be expecting altcoins season anymore because nobody knows if bitcoin price will melt and give altcoins the chance to dominate the market.

One thing that I have observed is that when you see these altcoins pump, it's better that you take profit immediately, and don't have the confidence that they'll perform well in the long run because most times it use to be the opposite. More people are buying bitcoin and not altcoins.

Investors need to pick interest in altcoins, and thus move funds from bitcoin into different altcoins, pushing up the price of altcoins and reducing bitcoin's dominance and price, this has to happen for us to experience an altcoin season. That said, just like you i don't think we might see any altcoin season soon, all of the attention is firmly on bitcoin and i expect it to continue that way.

I just want to tell you that the market will always have sellers and buyers, bitcoin investors and altcoin investors. Those who have taken profits will say the bull season is over, but those who have not sold believe the bull season is not over yet. Likewise, bitcoin investors do not expect or hope for altcoin season to come because it is not beneficial for them. But altcoin investors believe it will come regardless of what others say.

Therefore, you just need to choose a side and stand firm in your position . There is no need to ask or seek advice from anyone because they are not on your side , and they like you, cannot know what will happen in the future.

Are you sure? Have you forgotten about Ordinals that congested the bitcoin blockchain? There was a time Ordi was at $2.75 but rose to $95. You can check altcoins (BRC20) like SATS, RATS and many of them that rose significantly in 2024. Also how about the memecoins? Have you forgotten? These were the tokens that people most went for but just as other altcoins, they were gambling with it. These is evident enough to know that new happening like that which people went for were a sign of altseason. The time has passed and people should not expect anything until the next cycle.

Ethereum is an altcoin. An altcoin can disappoint at anytime just like others. No altcoin to really reduce bitcoin dominance and many of them pumped when bitcoin was increasing in price.

I think we are still saying the same which is altcoins season is most likely not going to come again, this is not me saying that there wouldn’t be periods where some set of altcoins will not pump. In this space aside bitcoin that is following its trend path I think most of Altcoins now do periodic cycle or pump  base on which narrative the market is at. For example the ordinals pump were period were runes were hyped as it was the new meta then just like NFT and many jumped on it which caused the huge pump but as that meta is almost dead now I don’t see them getting back again. Same thing occurred with memecoin and to be sincere coins like TRUMP did huge pumps but they are not coming back again.

My understanding of alt season is when all alt coins starts pumping really hard more than even bitcoin but realistically I don’t see us having any alt season again, some Altcoins can simply pump because of the hype around them but regardless of that I don’t see all moving. So for me it is best to keep your funds in bitcoin other than buying Altcoins now hoping for a alt season later

I don't think that the user tried to imply that an altcoin season was not caused by the Bitcoin bull run, or that this has ever happened. He is trying to say that to him it seems that altcoins are still in the loading phase, and that an altcoin season is yet to come. But to answer your question, the main data point that everyone is looking at is the last cycle. The altcoin season in the cycle before that did happen, but it is not as relevant.

We might be waiting for the market to give us an altcoins season without realising that it has already happened without we knowing. Altcoins seasons would not be as it used to be before that it will be very obvious and all the cryptocurrency will be doing great. This time around things will be different and not all cryptocurrency are going to do great. The ending of last year saw some cryptocurrency doing very well that gave their investors profits. Have we stop to consider if that was the altcoins season that we are still waiting for the market to see much gains, I want all the cryptocurrency to do well so that their investors will be happy and also invest in Bitcoin too and increased the price but unfortunately that is not going to happen because not all the cryptocurrency projects can do well.

Bitcoin dominance is not going to slow down or decline anytime soon, but it cannot stay high forever either. History has proven this many times, there will come a time when bitcoin's dominance is bound to decline and that will be the era of altcoins.

Altcoin investors have been talking about altcoin season for quite sometime now, are you sure there is going to be an altcoin season anytime soon.

Not only them but also the BTC investors. It is because it is also a huge event, so everyone is excited for it whether they participate on it or not. They must have done some analysis for it to have a conclusion like that.

That said, capital has to move from bitcoin and flow into altcoins for there to be an altcoin season, but i cannot see that happening right now, with all the adoption of bitcoin from nations and institutions, i can only see more inflows for bitcoin, rather than outflows to altcoins that are less trusted.

At first, we can think of it but then there are also times that both BTC and alts are pumping together. It is like BTC pump just triggers it. But I like this better because this looks more explosive. But if BTC dominance drops, that can also mean that it transferred temporarily in the altcoins, making their season also beefier.

Everyone has the right to their own opinion. You say there will be an altcoin season, and I say there won't. Time will tell which of us is right.

If money starts flowing from bitcoin to altcoins, it could cause panic due to a drop in the value of bitcoin, which will directly affect the price of altcoins.

I will advice you people not to hold altcoins for a long time because if there will be a bear market, they will fall more. The world are getting to know more of bitcoin but less of altcoins. I mean institutions and countries reserves.

But, is it that some people don't think or what. If altcoins were that really reliable (as some of these persons see it fit to gamble their money on them), don't they think that these corporations, institutions and the governments that are adopting bitcoin as strategic reserves would have extended same funds to those altcoins as well. Anyone still waiting for an altcoins season may just be wasting time because after the peak we saw with altcoins in around 2024 am not quite sure we will have a repeat of that in 2025.

For your your information, there were notable altcoins that were added to the US strategic reserve as announced by the US government, altcoins Iike Solana, Ada were added along side Bitcoin on the US Bitcoin strategic reserve.
In addition, there are strong altcoins with solid features with huge potential to perform on the long run. These altcoins has good marketcap, trading volumms that should fit in as a reserve by other countries, but every nations has their choices, though many prefer Bitcoin not because there are no good altcoins.

Haha, yes. I've been part of some Bitcoin dominance discussions in the past year and while most people thought Bitcoin dominance will go down to 50 and probably below 50 so that altcoins can go up but the reverse has been the case especially now with institutional attention is centered on Bitcoin.

Paying your attention on supply like limited or unlimited is good but it's not enough.

The biggest risk of altcoins is how altcoins are very easily launched and people behind those shitcoins even don't have to know of programming. There are websites, tools to launch shitcoins very easily without developmental inputs. If a scam team invest kind of financial budget for a website, white paper, marketing and other things, they can find more victims who are careless, greedy and inexperienced enough to fall into scam traps.

Years ago, market cap tracking websites like Coinmarketcap and Coingecko did not have their Red Flag warning like "This token as an active Mint Function that can be used to mint more tokens" like now. Even so, as said many people are simply careless enough to ignore such red flags.

I have my personal mentor who is also my personal friend. And I was also taught how to read the bitcoin dominance index against the movement of altcoins in the market. And one of them is, as many traders believe, that when Bitcoin's dominance is still strong enough, the altseason has not yet started. But when bitcoin's dominance weakens at a certain point while waiting for certain confirmation then it can be said that altseason will begin. And this has been proven to be true by the end of 2024. So I believe in this.

There are quite a lot about technical indicators too. But what is easiest for us to understand is that you can check it yourself at Coinmarketcap > Altcoin season index section¹. There you will be able to read clearly where we are at the moment.

We are yet to see the end of the rally for BTC.

That's why alts still didn't shine, but it will change once investors will push BTC to the biggest ATH yet.
