in this category you may sell low to attract customers at first and later you can gradually increase your price to make profit. but if after increasing your price an they refuse to buy then you must look for product needed most in that environment that no one is selling and add to your business. by so doing you have attracted more customer to yourself and people will always have reason why they will buy from you because you have all they need.
You're right selling at a minimal price gets you more customer but as a business perons it should also be calculated, we do business for profits so even though we should consider selling at a low price our profit should not be in such a way that it will affect us in restocking our goods, let's say our profit in each good is $20 for instance we can reduce it to $13 they remaining $7 should be a sacrifice for us to lure more customers and another things is, before we sell at this price we would've have check around us to know the amount the goods are been sold in think with that we can actually arrive at a good price that we can sell ours, yea, looking for good that are mostly in ask for in your area to be added to the things you sell add more value to your business, this will even make things easier for most people and they may decide to be patronizing you in other things you said too since there wouldn't be need for them to keep buying from different store when you have everything they need at a cheaper price than what they think, this make such business perons smarter.

Yes many business people know the pricing strategy in theory but in practice most of them fail because they do not know when and how to apply it, those who mostly fail are not because of the wrong strategy but the wrong execution "not knowing the right timing" and it is true that in building a business from scratch, setting prices based on competition is a smart move, we are just starting out so with the current competition we must make sacrifices first to attract customers, it does not matter if the profits obtained are small because in the end when there are many customers then the small profits will become large and it must be remembered that the quality of service or products offered must always be good, that is also very important.

This is what some customers want because they think that quality will be more important so they willing to pay more for that goods. They want to buy a quality goods and will compare from one to another product before they buy and sometimes, they will need longer time to decide.
It is happen to my father because he asked me to search for the same products but with different companies. I remembered that I need to go to more than 3 stores to find the same product and that consume more time to have the details so my father can compare all of that products. Maybe it needs almost a month to have the right product that my father wants.

But what I am saying is that in the long run is the opposite, I am not in disagreement with you and I also agree with what you've said. I've just pointed out about the price war that the other businessmen do when they want to dominate the market and hurts the other competitor. They're adjusting the prices that both of them doesn't benefit at all.

I believe government price regulation is limited only to some goods and not all item's price is regulated by the government. Items that are non-essential consumer goods like clothing and electronics pricing, I think are not regulated by the government since they are purchased individually for personal use and not for production.
Governments may intervene only on raw materials and not into value added products. For example, cotton is a raw material where governments may fix a price for one ton of cotton whereas the denim cloth (a value added thing) which is produced from the same cotton will not have any intervention from the government on fixing its price. Yeah, governments also must be having some price strategy but I agree this strategy cannot be same for all the countries. If you want to build a business this can help you dictate a pricing point for your goods or services and as a consumer this might help you be more responsible in buying.
Yeah, having a pricing strategy will help all of us. Both consumer and producer must focus on quality of the product to justify its price; due to this reason, we are seeing people are ready to pay higher price for known brands.

Pricing strategy to me means the type of product and the type of competition that is in the industry, also how is the rate of demand for such a product, this are factors that will determine what price a product will be. Before determining your own price you need to consider what other people that are selling similar product, if their rate is higher or lower, also the close substitute of such a product. When you put all this facts into consideration after doing your feasibility study that is when you can determine the appropriate price to put your goods or product. Only a monopoly product that a seller can determine any price because there is no competition but then the seller has to consider the demand for his product, there is no need of hiking price when a monopoly goods or product is not in demand.

What about location based pricing. Location matters when planning to set up a business, as it either affects to reduces, or increases the price of goods. Prices of goods are different in a local area from those in big cities. As a seller there needs to be value to what you sell, hiking the price too much is wrong but decent profits should be compulsory, if the seller doesn't do well with pricing and the economy of the country suffers inflation, each time the seller goes to restock will go down in loss due to the price of good has gone up. I have seen sellers compare the general price of those particular goods with other merchants so they know how to set their price to fit in.

Urban areas tend to charge more on the things they sell than people that are in rural areas, this is because the amount spent in transporting this items from rural areas to big places cost more for them to get there and similarly, process items tend to cost more on rural areas as they are been transported from those areas as well, this is why location plays a huge role in pricing, especially when the road isn't even well equipped for easy transportation. When there is no subsidy and open market for everyone, there tend to be greed from sellers. This is currently happening in Nigeria as the government is on longer subsidizing things again and the market is now free where buyers and sellers now determining the price and this is making some greedy sellers to extort the market, it's a big concen when there is no price control in a country, that's what we are currently facing right now in Nigeria.

You have a point about all the information you provided OP, and many businesses have collapsed due to the business owner knowing all this pricing strategy while some business owners that understand the pricing strategy don't know when to truly apply it to boost their business. Having said that, when start a new business I believe using all the 3 strategies will help and the best strategy I believe it good to use for a start is the competition based pricing.
More likely, these forms to pricing are associated to certain stage in production. While all the categories to pricing could be very useful to producers, when you are a retailer, you really don’t have much choice rather than to use the cost based pricing where you get your determine what it took to get and transport the product, add some amount for profit and sell it off. Producers are the once that concerns themselves with competitive and value based pricing since, you don’t get much in value when you are breaking in the market and when the product carries just fine, then you can talk about value.

I think price of things matters for person to person because when we enter in the market, sellers judge us by our clothes and then they speak us value of thing in which we are interested. There are thousands of people who are poor but they like to stay clean and they wear costly dresses and shoes and they are buying the things at high price. There could be low price things if they use their mind but they only want to showoff and that is destroying them . Rich people always buy products from the brand and brand are earning from rich and middle class people especially because they want to show they are rich but actually they not and brand gave these products for free to the models .
