Will the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) cause a shortage in labour?

Artificial Intelligence, so far, has been of very good importance in the society as it helps reduce stress and makes sure things are done easily, but that is somehow far from the truth, and what people are not getting clear is the redundancy or drop in staff workforce in organisations as they adopt the use of AI into their workforce. I read an article online where a manufacturing organisation replaced their staff in place for AI, but the result they got could not match or surpass the input of their staff, and they were forced to get back their staff, and business began as normal. With this, it could be said that AI can not really give an accurate output without the supervision of a human, as it is that AI are already programmed to function in their own ways without much assistance from humans.

As we all know, AI stands to be a major competitor in the workforce now that employers are beginning to look in that direction. I have a feeling that in the time to come, there would be a rise in the use of AI and that would significantly affect the labour force as many organisations would key into it and there would be redundancy at various organisations that use AI for their services. Looking at the fact that AI would save costs, ie, salary payment, running costs, and other costs that involve human engagement and activities, with AI, those costs would not be necessary anymore as AI does not need them to function but do you not think the out put would be a way different from the real human output?

So far, looking at the fact that AIs are programmed by humans, do you not think they would be exploited by hackers to malfunction or work contrary to their initial function for which they were programmed? Because the possibility of AI wars or whatever you call it is not far from reality, as hackers do to their victims in the crypto world. Come to think of it, if bots can be programmed to steal information from humans, what makes you think AI  systems can not be hacked by hackers to do their dirty deeds as the case may be. Anyway, the advantages of AI in society would be of more value. But I just feel that not every agency, department, or organisation would need the service of AI that much than the human input, and as such the AI services could be limited in some industries compared to others but there would be some shakeup in those industries that decides to do with AI against human workforce.

Did you notice that if you want to go on a live chat with a crypto exchange customer care, you will first chat with a bot. Those bots are AI. That is the field that AI has really replaced humans the most which is customer services and call centers. Other areas AI are reducing employment are IT services, warehousing and logistics, banking and financial services, administrative and clerical according to what I saw on the news I was watching recently.

Globally it was reported that 14% of jobs have been affected by AI. 1.9 million jobs has reportedly been lost in United States and 1.2 million jobs lost in China due to AI. But the thing is that some jobs are created due to AI development also. It has been predicted that 75 million jobs can be lost due to AI in 2026, but it is estimated that 133 million jobs may be created. Which may require entirely different skills.

Worth knowing that according to a United Nation research that women are more at risk. That 41% of women's jobs can be affected but only 28% of men job can be affected. I have make examples above like the customers service jobs that are more of women.

Also some people that wanted to replace their works with AI later noticed that not all works can be done with AI and still employ most humans when they know or noticed that AI can not replace humans in certain fields.

So far, looking at the fact that AIs are programmed by humans, do you not think they would be exploited by hackers to malfunction or work contrary to their initial function for which they were programmed?

But I was unable to see data of percentage of jobs lost in Nigeria due to AI and also the percentage of jobs created due to AI. Also no information about what the future of employment in Nigeria would be in relation to AI.

Personal I believe that anything that has it own advantages also have it own disadvantages, as Al has it own advantages it also have it now disadvantages, but am not going to be listen the advantages and disadvantages of Al you can carry out your own research because I want my reply to brief and readable to others I will only focus on answering your question if Al systems can be hacked to malfunction or work contrary to their initial function for which they were programmed.

Yes Al systems can be hacked, because the Al systems rely on vast amount of data and if not properly protected the data can be targeted by hackers, and if the hackers eventually get access to the  Al systems they can steal sensitive informations, which includes personal data, financial records or research data.

Secondly Al can be manipulated to malfunction. there is what will known as model poisoning, which model poisoning involves manipulating the training date which is used to train the Al model, By injecting a malicious data to modify the existing data, which can compromise the integrity and the performance of the Al system.

AI can harm people more than it helps them. Our modern world is becoming more dependent on AI and is about to surrender its existence to AI. We are forgetting human skills and giving priority to AI for the sake of saving. This is destroying the jobs of many people, especially freelancers. I never consider AI as a friend of humans, rather it is our enemy. We are losing our existence to AI. AI is a development we are not ready for. AI replacing humans is real, AI making our jobs faster is also real. Whatever part we choose has its positive and negative sides. The world is getting modernized we can't stop it even if we try, better take charge before things get worse. Both manual labour that we did back then, machines are now authorized to do the job perfectly, who doesn't like a clean job done, machines do it better and faster.

There are also fields in which AI can perform better, some of these AI also need to be operated by humans before they can perform task, in every scope, it will only reduce employment rate but can never entirely replace humans. The only way humans can adapt to these changes is if the developers of AI function can create earning opportunities using the intelligence if otherwise, there will be total mess with job scarcity.

The emergence of A.I have actually crippled a lot of job opportunities that ever existed in the last 10yrs, such as jobs like Voiceover, Copy writing, content & video creation, trading and e.t.c. and other fields as such Data analysis, Banking and finance and I.T.C sections, whereby A.I does almost 80% of the work processes that is been carried out in those sections. But on the contrary, there are other sections that A.I can't be used, such as the medical field, the construction field and agricultural fields, as these fields involves the used of physical hands, and not digital where A.I can be implemented.

Playfully, AI might really cause more harm than good in the future because just as the name implies; Artificial Intelligence, that is how its creativity has gone out of this world. I have seen some videos online that were generated by the use of AI, it was almost impossible for me to know that it was AI but what helped me to know is that when an AI does a video, everything is just like a perfection of the exact thing you want. Just by giving it a command it will just act immediately, which human can do that? Even in the toughest situation because as a human there are times when your brain has been occupied with a lot of things, and you will start finding it difficult to perform a particular task even when it is something you do frequently but with the AI, it responds to numerous commands and delivers within some seconds. AI will really render many people jobless that is why people need to be prepared ahead and possibly improve in technical skills and sort for self-made jobs.

It is common for people to think that a new invention will lead to job losses. This was the same thing people said when automobiles, computers, and telephones were invented. But they fail to understand that new inventions also create new jobs. Artificial intelligence might make many jobs obsolete but more jobs will also be created by this technology.

All technologies can malfunction due to different reasons. Bad actors will always devise means to exploit the weakness of these new inventions. Hackers and system failures can affect the operations of these AI tools.

The world is moving to a level where every sector will have to depend on artificial intelligence in some areas. Today, no company can do so without computers. We might soon enter the era of AI.

In my opinion, there are pros and cons of AI. Yes, in the future some job roles will become obsolete as a result of AI advancement. But there are also opportunities for people to earn money from AI, the AI industry is still growing and to be honest I don’t think we actually know how much we can go with AI so the possibilities are endless. Very drastic how some companies are adopting the use of AI. Definitely some staff will be layed off because of this incorporation, this for sure will be a painful experience for somany of the dropped staffs. Not to forget how this AI developers are there trying harder to develop it to higher quality making it more human influence free apart from the already done programming....

Therefore it becomes reasonable not to bother about job displacement because new job will emerge definitely considering how tech advances has always been.
It becomes critically creative for redundants to look up to the new job around that field or suffer the pain of getting into entirely new job/skills.

Even human beings are hackable (manuplations), much less a software... The security can be so strong but that doesn't mean that it can't be hacked or attacked into malfunctioning as it has been in so many cases and it on such matters requires human aid.
