Germany DFB Cup 2025/2026 - Discussion and Prediction

The biggest surprise to me here looks like Wolfsburg's elimination. Because Kiel have dropped to the 2nd Bundesliga and they are really bad there as well. But they still managed to beat a middle-placed Bundesliga team. 

Well to be fair, Wolfsburg had a red card and the game winning goal was a penalty, so there is that. But yeah, it's not so uncommon that a 2nd tier team beats a first league team, but away of course is always an even more difficult story.
I liked the Frankfurt vs Dortmund game! Going back and forth with BVB coming back after being down at halftime. Kobel, the BVB goalkeeper, had a great outing in the penalty shootout, he really is the stronghold for this team. Glad they picked up the pace after losing against Bayern. That last second win against Cologne last weekend and this hard fought penalty win in Frankfurt will be a good boost going forward!

The competition has always been in favor of the big guys but in as much as they push harder to get all the necessary wins to be on top and to also make a big statement that they [Bayern Munich] are coming for the title I still don't know why they are not that consistent in winning this trophy, but they concentrate more in the league title and the UCL title more than this very DFB CUP,, why?

Situation at the time couldn't give Bayern Munich the convenience to win the DFB Cup last year and it fell into the hands of Stuttgart. Bayern Munich were sternly focused on getting back into dominance in the league after a slap on their face by Leverkusen who were unbeaten champions of the league in that season. And about now that Munich has regain it position maybe we would see them winning all their domestic competitions and including the UCL, their form this season is unmatched.

You analysis is correct, as we speak bayern Munich remain unshaken presently for many matches they have played so far this season, I wouldn't be surprise for anyone to say things as you did, they heading towards a good end of the season but since the season is not over yet we shouldn't conclude yet but if we are to compare their performance with other teams, then we can say that the season is over for any ta thats contending the league title and any other competitions in Germany at the league level, I must confess those guys are too good this season, I think this is because of their poor performance last season, the have come prepared to take as much title as they can come but as for the UEFA champions league, let's not say anything about that yet although bayern has keep up to their good performance but we haven't seen it all yet from other teams in the competition.

You're getting me wrong here, you see these guys they are good and doing pretty well but we all see them as a big side that have all the tools to get the job done and to also dominate everything concerning the Germany league but they seem to struggle all the time they are in action in this particular competition, maybe this time around they are going to win and they're up to speed and no one is good enough to stop them and all I want is for them to clear every trophy this season because ever since they lost the Bundesliga title this is the best I have seen compared to last season.
I know the players are humans like you and I which we know but is like they are the only team that have the best players in that league that's why I expect them to win everything. Yes the league is a farmers league and also boring because is only one side that dominate from the beginning of the game to the end, even yesterday game Bayern was all over Koln so is not new, that's another reason I said they should have won this competing last season because they are the only best in the Bundesliga and they should be competing with themselves.

Bayern munich's move to the next round is not a surprising things because they are the king of german's bundesliga which a lost to FC koin must be questioned base on quality gap, consistency level between them and team history, so a win on that game in favour of bayern mubich was all we expected.

FC koin had an unexpected dominating force when the game started but failed to capitalize on bayerns weakness when they had the opportunity to do so, honestly they did perfectly well on that game despite there lost and would have done more than that assuming they played against a weak team

I know that Bayern Munich are on top of the Bundesliga this season both on the log and they are dominating every team this season and that makes them the favorite in all competitions especially this one that we are talking about. They are doing very well no doubt but we shouldn't be surprised when they fail to win this title for the second time in a row. I don't know why I have this feeling that they might mess this good form they're in, like I said on one of my post that they are good last season but not as good as they are this season which makes many see them as the only team to win this title but they were there when Stuttgart won it which means they'll be here when another team will win it again if not Stuttgart. I just hope they prove me wrong before this good for might come to an end on the last day of the competition, just want Bayern to show this same energy in the champions league too.

Kompany didn't want to go for a high rotation against Köln which was a bit unexpected to me. Because they had a really tight schedule recently and I thought he might want to rest some big names.

Bayern Munich couldn't win the DFB Pokal trophy in the last 5 years. It is mostly because of priorities of course. This is why it makes more difficult to place a bet on them in the cup. We will see if things will change this year.

I was hoping for a different result but actually it's kind of what I expected. Cup is always so strange. So often teams play against each other that face off just days before, this time it's my beloved BVB. After a great game in Leverkusen you would think the home match should be much easier compared to the previous one, yet they disappointed. Hopefully they don't lose their momentum right now. After having good results in the Bundesliga as well as the UCL I thought they would go into the new year still being alive in a ll 3 cups, well I was wrong. The draw of course was also unlucky. 2 top 4 teams in Germany meeting each other in the round of last 16 is a pretty tough matchup.

I didn't pay attention about DFB-POKAL games returning yesterday with the round of 16.
M'Gladbach elimination is something to be expected soon or late. They are weak this season. Leipzig victory is normal and Hertha scored a lot of goals against FCK which was surprising since FCK performance is comparable to Hertha. Otherwise Borussia Dortmund doesn't seem to care about being eliminated by Bayer Leverkusen...

Actually, Dortmund doing well in the Bundesliga and they getting knocked out in the cup is a bit funny, im not going to lie. I mean Leverkusen played good football for real and deseerved that win. I went into that match expecting Dortmund to come out victorious, if i had money i woul have staked on them even (glad i didnt) but seriously the defeat was just not expected

It was truly surprising some of the results yesterday. This goes to prove that no two games or matches are the same, that a team won  today doesn’t mean they’ll win tomorrow.
Borrusia Dortmund after defeating Bayer Leverkusen away from home at the league couldn’t do same at the DFB Pokal Cup even as they played at home.
Cup form and league form is not  always the same as you can see St. Pauli were able to defeat Monchengladbach.
These were interesting matches  to watch.

as expected, defending champions vfb stuttgart and bayern munich advanced to the quarterfinals
of the eight clubs in the quarterfinals, only two, hertha bsc berlin and holstein kiel, are from the 2nd bundesliga... all other clubs are from the first one

I can’t say it was an easy match for Bayern Munich. They always struggle against Union Berlin and I think they struggled again last night.
After making it 3–1, Bayern Munich thought the game would end comfortably, but once Union Berlin made it 3–2, they started pressing more; they just couldn't score the third goal.
With this win, Bayern Munich advanced to the next round.
