A supermarket like Rewe is an odd choice because supermarkets rarely have expensive goods but I like the idea and why not have "cold storage" near frozen goods. I would love to have more brands of hardware wallets in (electronics and household) markets like Mediamarkt and Saturn. I wouldn't mind if they place them by the fridges section. I want to buy such stuff with fiat money and without leaving digital traces of my purchase (despite survaillance camera footage and obscuring my face details isn't exactly rocket science; turn off of mobile phone on your way to and into the store if you extra paranoid cautious).

BitBox hardware wallets can now be purchased in German supermarket chain REWE. It looks like a pilot program because they are only available at REWE Teupe in Dortmund.
This is a good option if you can purchase BitBox with cash, since you won't leave any transaction trace, you won't have to add your name, email, delivery address and there is zero shipping fees. BitBox can't be spoiled like meat, and I see price is similar like when you are purchasing from official website.

At least in my country that's not the case. Big chains often have a tech department, and you can buy various stuff there. Everything from chargers, cables, USBs to audio & video tech, vacuum cleaners, fridges, etc. This is a good option if you can purchase BitBox with cash, since you won't leave any transaction trace, you won't have to add your name, email, delivery address and there is zero shipping fees.
I am certain you can. Germans will hold on to their right to use cash as long as they can. They are not pushovers like some other nations. Yes, I am looking at you Scandinavia. FFS you used to be vikings.

Not if they accept stupid Digital ID, that will eventually result in banning cash in most places, if not everywhere Germany today is not the same like few years or few decades ago, and Switzerland as home country of BitBox wallet already started with Digital ID implementation.

Not if they accept stupid Digital ID, that will eventually result in banning cash in most places, if not everywhere That's the sad future that awaits many nations unfortunately. The Great Britain is already making great strides in that direction. You have probably heard how Thailand's government had national banks freeze bank accounts of million of citizens who refused their Digital ID program a few days ago. That democracy is coming to Europe soon. You don't have to comply. You can simply roll over and die if you wish.

the new BitBox genevau update was released today this release comes with new features, enhancements to the user interface, as well as other improvements and bug fixes like: - decentralized swaps, no kyc
Every hardware wallet native app will probably integrate swaps in its software in the future if they haven't already done so. Users need to be careful when using BitBox's new swap option. They use SwapKit as an aggregator for swapping services. They like to say that they are an aggregator for no-KYC, decentralized, and non custodial swaps. That's not exactly true. In this image from BitBox's blog, we can see that the swap route goes through NEAR Intents. NEAR Intents performs AML checks and has the option to confiscate and freeze funds. It's not guaranteed that your swap will be no-KYC if use NEAR Intents. It's surely not non-custodial. So when using SwapKit.dev with the BitBox app or any other software, always look what the suggested swap route is. Not all of the services are good and do what they promise.

Every hardware wallet native app will probably integrate swaps in its software in the future if they haven't already done so. It looks like you’re correct because developers seem more focused on turning their products into super‑universal financial apps instead of refining the features traditionally associated with wallets. It’s much easier for them to build the flashy add‑ons than for example to implement the full set of Silent Payments. But I would still prefer if they prioritized those core features in their roadmaps rather than things like swapping.

I don't think the developers are solely at fault for that. They introduce and build features that people request and want to use. If you asked the average crypto user if they prefer that their favorite crypto software introduces Silent Payments or NFTs, swaps, or something else flashy, most of them wouldn't pick Silent Payments. They wouldn't even know what it is or what to do with them. Going with the trends and following FOMO is more important for the majority of people. Still, it would be nice to have both for those who think differently.

I've never seen anyone asking for such wallet to add swap tools, as people generally send and settle everything on CEX. Although the demand for software wallets is low compared to a few years ago. Furthermore, it's much better for me to use services like those well-known from the forum, which usually don't have problems with AML and KYC. There are two ways to look at this. If you use a service that doesn't care about AML and KYC, then you as the coin holder can have problems in the future if you transfer those coins to a type of service that cares. As long as you stay with those that don't, you should be fine. On the other hand, the odds are lower that you will have AML issues if you only deal with services that are strict about that. There are of course exceptions.

I don't think the developers are solely at fault for that. They introduce and build features that people request and want to use. You see, in general I’m not opposed to implementing features like swaps in wallets, but if they rely on pools with low liquidity at the moment the given user is swapping their assets, then the user may fall into the slippage condition and receive much less than expected. Therefore, wallet must protect users from slippage losses by any means. I’m not sure if SwapKit used by BitBox02 Nova is capable to find the best route across various pools, but if it does, then that’s great.

Some swap services and wallets have an option to set and edit a slippage tolerance within their settings. That's a good thing to do to avoid the scenario that you mentioned. The default is probably set to 1% or 2%, but if it can be manually adjusted, a user could enter 0.5% or even less if the system allows it. That way you don't lose too much if liquidity issues arise.
