I will suggest Port Harcourt City in Nigeria's River State. Nigeria might have been known to be a country filled with lots of vibes and, at the same time, have a national security issue that can't be ignored, but the city of Port Harcourt, which I have spent a lot of time in, is indeed a place where you can freely spend bitcoin in a few places.

The country Nigeria also doesn't have any policies which restrict people from spending bitcoin; as long as you are not into any illegal activities, you are good to go. I can also recall making a thread about purchasing bitcoin from a physical bitcoin local exchange shop back then in the same city of Port Harcourt.

Luxembourg City, Luxembourg


Luxembourg being one of the place where saw the vision of bitcoin (having one of the oldest bitcoin exchange Bitstamp is bitcoin friendly for travel. You can book flights from platforms that accept bitcoin directly even though some major airlines don't accept but few do accept bitcoin.

You can also book hotels, shop in boutiques using bitcoin, I think it's also one of the places that bitcoin gain ground on since 2011 that Bitstamp was founded there but is not really in concentration.

Bitcoin is accepted in my country, and their was a hotel which announce that they accept bitcoin around 2021, that was the first hotel in my country that will accept bitcoin, you can just decide to give it a visit, and spend your bitcoin there. I don’t really know if any other hotel have started accept bitcoin here, but i will give you the name and the address of a luxury hotel that accepts bitcoin here, you can really visit it and explore.

Actually I haven't been in El Salvador country before but I know it's the first country to accept Bitcoin during the 2021 and it's so obvious now that many businesses and companies in El Salvador are now accepting Bitcoin and still using Bitcoin to pay workers. I would like to visit El Salvador one day to see how things have improved under President Bukele
and his very pro bitcoin-friendly policies. I would visit not only for travel but also for an educational experience.  
Perhaps going on a guided tour to learn about some of the history and culture of the country would be interesting.

In my college days I did study a bit about the history of El Salvador and its relationship with the Untied States and the IMF.
Let's just say the history of the country is not very pretty and rather sad. So I am happy to hear things are much improved now

Sandman Hotel Group is among the first hotels to accept Bitcoin as a form of payment according to my research. They have been doing so since July 2014, and they have partnered with Coinbase to process Bitcoin transactions. This is because the company's vice president of marketing realized that more and more customers are interested in paying with cryptocurrency, and he emphasized that the company should start accepting Bitcoin payments because they have more than 60 hotels across Canada.

Let me say that bitcoin is versatile and most of the countries deals with bitcoin and they do accept bitcoin, for me bitcoin has turn to general currency whereby it has being known across the nation and people is using it as traditional currency, but the problem is that it has not officially legalised in so many countries, and I have not seen a country that uses bitcoin as a legal tender, but you can spend bitcoin in such countries that bitcoin is yet to be approved as a legalised currency, in my place I use bitcoin to transact to people that knows about bitcoin, so in my place in Nigeria we use bitcoin but our government has not legalised bitcoin as a legal tender,  so in summary, we have so many places where we can spend our bitcoin but secretly and openly, the thing is that so many of us have never notice that in their country

if you need to exchange your bitcoins to FIAT, and then use that later, it is not the same as using bitcoin directly. what is being discussed here is 'places where you can travel with bitcoin' meaning places where you can use bitcoin freely like you would use regular FIAT, whether to book a hotel or buy something in a shop, without any restrictive regulations.

and also if it is Bali, Indonesia, there has always been a rule that explicitly states that you cannot use anything other than 'Rupiah' to make payments... so if anyone uses bitcoin to make payments, either then or now, it is just as illegal, and we don't need to include it in this list.

One of the places where I can add is Ljubljana, Slovenia.
It is a small capital city, but it is very modern and crypto friendly. There are such cafes as Bitcoin Cafe where you can obviously pay using BTC, there were also a couple of hotels and hostels that allowed paying with it, such as BitCenter Hotel.

Even certain coworking placess and souvenir stores are crypto ready. They actually get into the entire decentralization spirit.
It has a beautiful, green and quite relaxing city, too, so it is a good place to go in case you require both technology and nature.

I do agree with it however, it is always better to double check before you book, as some businesses will not accept BTC anymore when it is inconvenient to them. Nevertheless, it is pleasant that more and more places pick up.

Let's move on to some lesser known locations of Europe:

Dresden, Germany

Known as the "Florence of the Elbe", Dresden in the south of Eastern Germany is known for several stunning historic buildings, like the Frauenkirche, one of Germany's finest baroque churches. There are also some very interesting art museums in the city. If you're more of an outdoor freak, you can visit the nearby Elbsandsteingebirge, a hilly forested region with interesting rock formations, ideal for trekking and spa tourism.

It was surprising for me to see that Dresden has a really good number of Bitcoin-accepting businesses for a city of that size (500,000 inhabitants), more than nearby Leipzig which has a higher hipster population. There are several accomodation options as well as food, places to drink beer and even a bakery See BTCmap.

Another interesting fact is that in Germany you have gift cards from several supermarket chains you can re-fill directly with Bitcoin.

I have checked Bali at BTCmap and there is at least one accomodation and several food businesses listed. So the entry of Bali here is OK. Maybe they circunvent the "payment prohibition" by simply declaring the transfer a barter. Normally everybody is free to exchange any (non-illegal) good for another good, and if one of these goods happens to be Bitcoin ...

El Salvador, on the other side, is really a low hanging fruit , but okay it's of course welcome here too. I'd like to know more about specific destinations there

Hong Kong
While a lot of places around the world are getting stricter with crypto, Hong Kong still feels surprisingly open when it comes to Bitcoin. The local regulators have taken steps to build a proper licensing framework, so legit exchanges can actually operate without looking over their shoulder all the time. It’s not a free-for-all, but at least there are clear rules. OTC trading is still alive and well, and plenty of crypto firms keep offices there because of the city’s strong financial system, low taxes, and connection to the mainland. Things aren’t as wild as they used to be.

I can easily search online for places that accept Bitcoin but in my country it is still unclear Bitcoin is legal or not so there are not any places that accept it for payments or visits in my country. I never travel abroad or I personally did not visit any place which is accepting Bitcoin but I hope my country will soon announce official rules for crypto. Once that happens I am sure many businesses will start accepting Bitcoin and I will definitely visit those places.

Can you share some locations in the Phillipines you would recommend, and where you found accomodation and restaurants?

Bitcoin-accepting restaurants, accommodation, spa, stores, and others are sparsely found across the country, but if you want a specific place where you can easily spend your Bitcoin on pretty much everything, it's gonna be Boracay Island or what they're now calling the Bitcoin Island.

I was there 2 or 3 years ago and, indeed, you can easily find 'Bitcoin accepted here' stickers all over the place. You can find a place to stay, eat, get a tattoo, have a haircut, grab a drink, get a massage, and everything else using Bitcoin.

I think if there is any place consider to be a safe heaven for Bitcoin then it would probably be Switzerland, I mean Bitcoin is virtually accepted in almost all city and there are countless shops and business that accept Bitcoin for payment.

I think Estonia is one of the friendly countries that accept Bitcoin and Bitcoin users don't have to hesitate when it comes to it usage although just like every other countries one or two regulations are here and there but nothing taunting to affect the use of Bitcoin.

Infact it's well known and even recognize that one of the biggest financial firms in the country offers client to trade and explore in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general which is sound statement to how Bitcoin is acceptable in the nation.

Czech Republic- Prague.

Prague is a gold mine to Bitcoin tourists. The city is historic with its beautiful castles and pavement road, yet there is more of a shock as to the number of businesses that receive BTC. BTCmap states the existence of more than 150 businesses (hotels, hostels, restaurants, etc.). There are such opportunities to have a good Czech dinner (such as Restaurace U Ceske Lipe) or stay in a hostel friendly to BTC (such as Czech Inn). It is also easy to find some Bitcoin ATMs around the place where one can cash out on them in case of necessity. It has long been a tech-savvy city, and it is also highly walkable, and you can stroll around such iconic sights as the Charles Bridge and spend your BTC.


El Salvador, San Salvador

Since 2021, when El Salvador currency laws were updated to include Bitcoin as a national currency, the city of San Salvador is the crypto enthusiasts favorite destination. Hotels such as the Sheraton Presidente or smaller guest houses can be paid directly with Bitcoin as can many restaurants, both local pupusa stands and also high end places such as La Gastroteca. Approximately 50 companies are listed by BTCmap and there are more than 60 Bitcoin ATMs within the city. It is a bright city where the crypto scene is developing and one can explore such a symbolic place as the Metropolitan Cathedra.

Thus I start this thread to gather a list of cities and other places where you can travel with Bitcoin. The idea is that those who want can post cities and towns, be it in their own country or in locations where they have been, or whatever, where there is some Bitcoin acceptance. And add a photo from every location so the thread becomes a bit "visual" too

When I saw the title of this topic, the first thought that came to my mind was "are there only certain places where you can travel with bitcoin?" After all, bitcoin allows to travel around the world without any restrictions (still). I understand the specifics of the topic being discussed here (the ability to pay with bitcoin directly without exchange), but I still wanted to note that with bitcoin you can travel anywhere where there is electricity and internet.

Also, after looking through the posts in this topic, it is very noticeable that bitcoin is accepted most often in tourist places, in luxurious and expensive hotels and boutiques. That is, payment for bitcoin still remains something exotic and not for buying everyday items. In my opinion, this is more like a way to attract rich tourists with the famous slogan "bitcoin accepted here".
